It's steadily gaining adoption, the people I talked to went apeshit over it. Basically it allows you to play a game in "the real world" using landmarks as points of interest on your mobile phone. I asked them if there was any reward which you can trade in for cash or goodies and whatnot, they sad "sadly you can't, that's the only thing thats lacking"
What is the significance of this? First of all, I talked to about 10 people so I'm hard pressed to generalize my findings to the general public at this point in time. But can you see how this pertains to the potential of Checkcoin? Checkcoin will be the linking pin between these kind of games, social networks and cryptocurrency. The incentive for the adoption of Checkcoin's technology is there.
I explicitly withheld any info about Checkcoin as the platform hasn't fully matured yet, but trust me there is a huge untapped market out there.
Hold on to your coins, be patient. Don't be tempted to sell early. It may take 6 months who knows, but this will be epic. Rest assured that I will market the heck out of CKC when the time is right.
I play Ingress (very casually) but have friends who are very into it. Even here in Japan there are many hundreds or thousands of players even though the game is all in English and notoriously difficult for newcomers to get into. It's quite a popular game, and yes you are correct... if something like that was integrated with a cryptocurrency (like CKC), it could be very huge.
