Hopefully if just-dice decides to accept bitcoin, dooglus will add bitcoins slowly not to destroy the CLAM value. CLAM may be used more widely than just-dice before just-dice closes.

You love talking hypotheticals that are almost certain to never happen.  Clam will be used more widely then JD, its an inevitable fact of exposure which JD is giving plenty of for clams.

Its been just over a month since JD reopened, why don't we give it some time...

Sorry my post was badly phrased, I rephrased it. On one hand, it is likely that CLAM will be more used as time passed which is bullish for CLAM. But on the other hand right now most CLAM use is for just-dice so it is bearish for CLAM because it means CLAM high price is very dependent of one bitcoin casino and one bitcoin user dooglus.
I completely agree that that much power in one person's hand goes against the idea of decentralization. However, Just-dice has been a... "good" thing for clam since it reopened.

FortuneJack has started taking clam bets; hopefully this levels the centralization problem soon.

But what would happen if just-dice closes or accept BTC?

If I understand correctly, JD originally suspended operations because of legal concerns about dealing with a cryptocurrency that can be directly sold or purchased with US dollars. CLAM doesn't (yet) have that "problem."

If my understanding is correct, JD is unlikely to accept BTC ever again, however, if the regulatory environment changes (or an exchange starts trading CLAM/USD), resulting in CLAM being similarly verboten, it may have to close (or at least cease using CLAM).

If dooglus decides to accept bitcoin on just-dice, he will hopefully add bitcoins slowly not to destroy the CLAM value.
Also, CLAM use may increase which will mean the CLAM price will not go down as much when just-dice closes

I am making a new bootstrap.dat and then realized that some might ONLY want it to come from dooglus.

If anyone is interested I can edit the post with a URL and sign the message and add sha-1 and md5 hashes.  It is through block 285,000.

I can generate the same file locally and publish hashes. They should match yours:

$ clamd dumpbootstrap /tmp 285000
$ for i in md5sum sha1sum sha256sum; do echo $i $($i /tmp/bootstrap.dat); done
md5sum 7509afde3ded54ee6807ed56e0b03346 /tmp/bootstrap.dat
sha1sum ff9757107325832a4b7d0906dce982d20c43ff05 /tmp/bootstrap.dat

Do they?

Code:

Thanks Allejuppa, deleting the style.qss file worked a charm.  Smiley

Glad to hear that, certainly don't hesitate to report any issues you encounter. Hopefully it can get released shortly.

The only thing I had to change in the new client was to stop using the black visual theme (under Options => Display) so that I could see the mouseover text for the locked/encrypted, staking, network connections, up to date icons (in the bottom left of the window).  When using the black visual theme, the transparency was hard to read.

You should not have copied over the style.qss file.
Delete that one and you should be good.

Thanks for testing!

Dont put any BTC in SClAMs if you are not prepared to lose it.

I am convinced this Coin will ultimately show how bad Piece of Shit (POS) coins are laid out without POW.

I can understand if you do not like something and are a civil human being with a willingness to converse about it.

But this is pretty much a big red banner saying I am still a caveman and communication still yet eludes me.

Well done 'uv' in one statement you have shown the world some true colours.

Random letter names are always dumb & I always wondered what uvwvj stood for.

I think it his non-troll username (jvwvu) backwards, where j and v are his initials and wvu is his employer.

Hey Uv! please, tell us what you think! Your opinion matters very much to us!  (that was sarcasm in case you couldn't detect it)
We haven't had a troll in a while so thanks for meeting our troll quota for the week on the forum!

I see your trolling has finally extended beyond the JD trollbox. I won't bother engaging in your opinions as I've realized trolls don't accept logic. In fact from my experience the more logical you are the more the trolling continues.

Have a great day friend!
I also recommend extreme sunlight! (LOTR readers will catch this; sarcasm *unintended*)

Can the blockchain be copied over from the Windows client, or must it be completely downloaded again?

I've honestly never tired... but I would suspect yes.  I'll try myself later this evening

I've just installed the new CLAM Wallet on MacOSX Yosemite.  I loaded the application and it started to download the blockchain.  I closed the client and then I was able to copy across the blockchain and wallet from my Windows machine.  Files were copied from Windows (%appdata%\Clam) to MacOSX (~/Library/Application Support/Clam).  I restarted the client after the copy was complete and the blockchain and wallet were available and in sync.

The only thing I had to change in the new client was to stop using the black visual theme (under Options => Display) so that I could see the mouseover text for the locked/encrypted, staking, network connections, up to date icons (in the bottom left of the window).  When using the black visual theme, the transparency was hard to read.  I tried it against my dark wallpaper/background and against a light background but it didn't really make a difference.  I do like the black theme but I can't use it atm.

You should not have copied over the style.qss file.
Delete that one and you should be good.

This coin is doing better than I expected, and works very well as far as I've used it.  Congrats.
Avatar is familiar, toddtervy... Cheesy

Anyway yes, CLAM is doing well. I lost most of my clam today gambling at JD, but that comes with the tides of fortune. Buying back in with what I have in other assets. Smiley

CLAM is like a micheal jordan rookie card. everyone wants one and they are drying up fast. 3000 clam dumped 2 hours a go. didnt affect price at all

well. went -0.0054 to 0.005. but went back to 0.0054 in 10min.

polo used to have 8000-9000 clam in sell. now it never more than 4000

i love clam and know its going to up. fun to make money on altcoin again.

ride the wave. ups n downs like clockwork

But what would happen if just-dice closes or accept BTC?

I don't think JD has any intention of closing down, I'm sure the owner wouldn't do that to us or himself after the time and money he's put into the project.
