Two raffles

One for a loaded Dash wallet handed out on a USB stick

and one for some XMR on a toilet paper based "wallet" (non-GUI but most likely gooey.....)

Paper wallets or usb sticks? Nah InstantX to people in the crowd. Preferably to their phones. Boom.

That means scanning addresses, NFC works?

Want privacy? Use Monero!
As a follow-up to my post showing that dnaleor started the post on planning for the flyer. Here is the link to the cache of the deleted for info

Did I ever deny to have handed out those flyers? I don't think so.

And I don't regret it. I exposed some facts that day to people who didn't know about the instamine.
I handed out those flyers to people who asked me for more info on the instamine after I asked a question and to some people who asked some critical questions themselves to Evan during Q&A. I didn't force my flyers in the face of DASH-believers (because that would be a waste).

In our next issue we will shed light on the rumours and investigate the alleged connection of Riccardo "fluffypony" Spagni and a secret underground sect of homosexual "My Little Pony" fetishists.

I've just choked on my cornflakes (breakfast time where I am). Hilarious!

basically he wraps new code into a little block
and then he can use Bitcoin's alerting system to enable / disable it
So if he turns malicious one day they are basically fucked?
yes
[...]

That's not possible, because Dash uses a deterministic build process so everyone can check the source code and verify that the distributed binaries are indeed build from this public source code.

And, yes, I check this for each public release. My second name is paranoia.

This. The lesson they should learn is: if you ignore how other projects are doing things just dont comment on them and focus on your own work. Show some class.

The great thing about DASH is that it's the topic on everyone's minds.

The takeaway from that exchange is a general state of cluelessness and ZX Spectrum programming mentality.

There's nothing incorrect in what they're saying (as far as I know) - it's just the total absence of perspective on competing priorities.

I don't know if either of them spent the last 30 years of their life building professional software systems or not, but how Evan's approaching it is absolutely consistent with an optimal strategy IF you're continually targeting protocol level revisions/improvements in a deployed technology.

He's alternating between development and deployment priorities. Thats what the spork is - an airlock for deployment.

Who cares if it creates a temporary window of control - all these currencies are in an embryonic state. If any of them achieve anything near their development objectives then that will be the least of anybody's worries. Anyway, the worst he can do is revert to the previously adopted protocol logic.

Two things:
1) Dash is open-source. If you think Evan has put some "sleeper" code in there, then I suggest you start looking through the source and find it.
2) The spork is nothing more than a command that tells all clients on the network: "disable new features/revert to last stable version." The spork doesn't enable anything new--it disables the new stuff allowing an automatic reversion back to your previously installed software.

It goes with the territory Tok. The "territory" of a group of people that haven't comprehended (at all it would seem) that their hidden/obscured blockchain simply cannot carry the fundamentals of "money" per se, hence it will never get up as a serious alternative monetary system.

I hereby propose a budget allocation for something along the lines of a raffle at these presentations. Is that how you do budget proposals? Anyway, some creative way of getting a few coins into the crowd, can't be hard to come up with something less tacky than printed bog paper Wink

All right
I´ll let you know what dnaleor thinks about it (will just copy him this conversation).
kk
Btw, if I may ask, how are the performance issues proceeding? (This is regarding your post on reddit)
it's going
that's NoodleDoodle's domain right now
and he's made excellent progress
hard to tell when he'll be done
Nice to hear, let him take his time :-P
I rather have something right than a network split a few days after the release of the tagged version :p
agreed
this isn't Dash with "sporks"
I still don´t get the spork thing :p
Do you perhaps know what it exactly is?
It atleast isn´t decentralized
basically he wraps new code into a little block
and then he can use Bitcoin's alerting system to enable / disable it
So if he turns malicious one day they are basically fucked?
yes
Or under a gag order or whatever
That´s kinda scary
he can leave some dormant code in there and then remotely enable it
and they're too retarded to even notice
and they're too retarded to even notice <= Yeah reading their thread alone makes my brain cringe
lol
They behave as a cult though
yip
I find it odd that they call him by his first name Cheesy
It´s not like we call you Ric all day on the forum
lol
imagine that
And otoh is still buying
I think my finance professor would get a sudden heart attack if he sees his portfolio
lol

Oh dear. Don't these guys realise that anything you type, speak or video online will (if it means something to someone else) eventually find its way into the public domain?

dEBRUYNE there's absolutely nothing odd about calling Evan by his first name because from the beginning he's been a real person with a real name that's his real identity! What is odd (and frankly gobsmackingly AMAZING that no one has said "WTF!") is that one of Monero's core "devs" (and I use that term very loosely) is named "fluffypony"!!! I would rewrite your "I find it odd that they call him by his first name" statement to "I find it odd that you call yourself fluffypony. How do you honestly expect anyone to take you seriously?!"

There was no volume changing hands at those low prices.

I guess that means Dash isn't collapsing after all

Dash's Total Bids have collapsed to <90BTC.

Price will eventually collapse without new money flowing into bids.

Otherwise, bidders will race to the bottom and sellers will have to follow them all the way down the death spiral.
Everyone is free to make their own decisions. Ignore me if you disagree.

I think there are plenty of warnings regarding the DASH instamine and other red flags in the alt coin section already.  Some people make assumptions about coin popularity based on the length of their announcement thread (although this is often a bad assumption).  Why not keep our criticisms about DASH in the alt coin section devoted to those topics and ignore their announcement thread? I estimate that their announcement thread is at least 1 or 2 thousand pages longer than it should be because of people posting about their instamine and other problems.

I actually have doubts that the DASH community is larger than Monero but the length of their announcement thread gives that impressive. Our Reddit page for example is more active than theirs. Some of you may have noticed that r/dashpay recently decreased from 5000 readers to about 1100 (I suspect many of their fake readers were deleted). As much as the DASH community complains I think they actually like Monero supporters posting in the DASH announcement thread to make it longer. I propose we stop posting their and post in the topics already started to discuss specific topics (instamine, lack of masternode mode blinding, mining rewards, sporks etc.) instead.

Although unprofessional behaviour by other Crypto-Currency devs,  thanks for funding the promotion of DASH... We would like to thank you for keeping us top of mind on this forum. As the saying goes... There is no bad publicity!  Thanks...

Please share your thoughts.

Agreed. I'm going to stop posting about DASH already.

Dash's Total Bids have collapsed to <90BTC.

During the decline they were floating around anything between 30 Btc and 60 Btc. So that would be a collapse up the way then.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
