masternode-pool

you mine,
when the pool hits 1000 DRK it creates a masternode.

you can only cash out when the pool has more than 1000 DRKs.
You get % for all the DRKs you didnt cash out.

...if the pool reaches 2K a nother Masternode is setup, etc.

so you dont need 1k, to run a masternode,
you only need a miner, and some time.

someone of the well known pool operators willing/able?
I would point my small miner to that direction... ;-)

That's a cool idea only problem is once the 1000 DRK have created the Masternode, what if someone wants to cash out? You need the 1000 for the MN but if they contributed to say 10 DRK of the 1000, they can't get them?  Just thinking out loud...

yeb, you can only cash out, if the pool is liquid.
And if you know that, it is your own risk.

(and the pooloperator could create a cashout-que, so you mark your account to be cashed out when the pool gets DRKs... (masternode-payments, other people mining)

yes it is a risk, for the operator, and for every single one.
but if 1000 people risk 1drk,
the (probable) fall is not that hard...  ... more shoulders, more strength

It's a lot of money (that isn't your own) to be responsible for as a pool operator.

Ok guys, I am excited for the hard fork and masternode payments.  However, I am a bit worried about the security of my wallet on server.  Wallet has nice strong password, I have only port 22 open to my IP, 9999 open, and 2FA setup for Amazon Web Services.  Should I be ok?

I think so.
Although I have no idea about clearing bash history so it doesn't store the wallet pw on it from when we ran "darkcoind masternode start 'mypassword"?

it seems like most people are looking down all but port 9999, but SSH shouldn't be a problem. i think I remember reading that it was possible to have your 1kDRK stored in a different wallet keeping them 'safer'?

So your hosting is with AWS or is it your own machine? I'm looking at running a masternode with near future too

You can store the 1k on a different machine, but the wallet with the 1k in it has to stay online for now. Cold storage is not implemented yet. But AFAIK it's planned
Here's a thred regarding local/remote setup on Darkcointalk:

Clear bash history with
Code:
cd ~/
ln -sf /dev/null .bash_history

oooh linking it to /dev/null clears it. I had done that so I guess theres no need for my overuse of
Quote
history -c
thanks  Cool

Masternode question:

When I start the masternode with
Code:
darkcoind masternode start mypassphrase
can I then shut the terminal window? I am worried about the wallet passphrase being there in plain sight.

Plus what happens if/when my local box goes offline for whatever reason, does the masternode persist?

Apologies for noobness at this.

And is there a site that lists masternodes, so I can see from elsewhere that it's up and running?

Thanks.

This works on linux:

darkcoind masternode start `head -1`

Type your password on the next line. If you do it this way the history will show 'head -1' instead of your password.

People, hold your Darkcoins, this is just starting. It is 7am in the United States East Coast, and 5 am in the West Coast right now. Same in South America,  America will be getting in the game soon.

its not working when i type sudo -u red ./darkcoind masternode start mypassphrase
i did everything what is needed before and sent exactly 1000drk
any help would be nice

Forget the sudo, just run it as normal user. And use single quotes around your passphrase.

./darkcoind masternode start 'mypassphrase'

Hello,

I am a film music composer, but also a huge fan of crypto-currencies and especially DarkCoin.

DarkCoin has inspired me to compose a DarkCoin Anthem and the music was already performed by a huge 100 musicians symphonic orchestra for me. The music theme is really great and will motivate all people who invested in DRK and also their friends once they hear the anthem. It is also against all trolls, who think they can manipulate people to lose their motivation.

I will soon upload the music to YouTube, but will need some graphics, images and also a possible 3D video of the DarkCoin logo. I would be happy if somebody will provide me with this media, so I can make a great YouTube presentation of the DarkCoin.

Feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Thanks,

Georgii Cerkiin

Here you can listen to the music, feel free to use the music for all projects concerning DarkCoin Smiley

DarkCoin Anthem - The Short Version:

I hope all the fans of DarkCoin will enjoy this music. Thank you!

I will also appreciate your DRK donations here:

nice, but a "Proof-Of-Originator" would be very appreciated.  Wink

some website, facebook with your equipment?

Who made you internet cop all of a sudden and what is your relation to the darkcoin project that you ask these questions?

do my own reseach on the Proof-Of-Originator problem. this example helps me a lot to go forward to a solution.

It seems to me like the fact that drk is doing so well, that the worst in people is rising and trolls start infecting the boards. And this all because of the moneyflow into drk.

All because they missed out on getting it early, but really its still very early.

Indeed it is still early and not too late for anyone to jump in.
