Here it is:

Official fundraiser for Darkcoin marketing & branding

Since Darkcoin was 0% premined, we will be doing this the old fashioned way, with a fundraiser. Many people in the community have expressed an interest in pushing our marketing effort along. We wanted to make sure the time was right, while Evan sorted out the kinks in the Darksend code. But we are nearly ready to show Darkcoin and Darksend to the world, so let's get this moving.

I will release a list of bounties for marketing & branding in the next day or so when I have a bit of spare time. For now, you may donate to the official fundraising wallet (anonymously if you like!). You can also PM me with your donation details and I'll keep some accounting, if only for the sake of making sure your donation is accounted for and spent appropriately.

As always, you are a fantastic community and we appreciate your support!

What are the key dates going forward for this coin - another 2-3 weeks for Darksend to be out of beta? Anything else? 2-3 weeks is an awful amount of time to watch the coin continue to sag like this.

I think every legitimate coin is suffering due to the auroracoin effect.  Most traders moved a lot of their funds out of other alts to hop on the AUR rollercoaster.  with 20% swings every few hours, it's a daytrader's dream.

Having said that, once the fallout from AUR happens, I think a lot of legitimate alts might have a chance to shine.  I guess we'll see.

The one thing I'm fairly sure of - when thousands of people In Iceland are handing a free $1500 dollars worth of AUR, they are going to have a hard time finding enough people to pay $1500 for them, or $1000, or $500.  The value of an item tends to gravitate towards the cost of production... or in this case, acquisition.

You know, people say 'Whatever-Coin' is not a pump and dump, but DarkCoin really isn't a pump and dump. In 2-3 weeks a lot of stuff will happen, including more advanced beta releases, a first major darksend release out of beta, a first coordinated marketing push. Good things take time.

So,
What's going on?
The price is dropping! I don't really understand if it's a big dump or other.

What do you think?

It's sad to see the price falling continuously.   The week view isn't pretty.  While on the other hand the difficulty continues to rise.

This tells me two things.  We have two groups, the onces who want to sell off now before they feel it's going to fall even more, cut their losses as such.  And the other group who believe in Dark Coin, who are finding this coin and mining it hard to get as much as they can before the price (hopefully) sky rockets, along with the difficulty.

You have to factor one thing: There are people who bought tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands when DRK was at 0.0000xx and 0.000x price ranges. These people are not "cutting any losses" selling at 0.00x. They are simply locking (major) profits.

Regarding miners etc, as the difficulty rises (and it is already quite high) the equilibrium of mining DRK to sell for profit changes. This means that instead of mining/selling/locking daily profit, miners will shift and instead other coins will be mined/dumped. Those who believe in DRK will mine and hold and those who believe (but do not mine DRK) will buy DRK with the profits of mining something else. This will reduce the coins profitability but in turn, paradoxically, help the price.

As for the "falling continuously", it's not an isolated incident that affects DRK per se. Check other alt coins and their graphs. But, at the same time, coinmarketcap position is relatively stable (we may pass worldcoin actually - it's getting closer).

When was the price that low? I checked on cryptocoincharts.info but I don't see anything close to those price levels (0.0000xx most especially). I mean if I had known it was that low it would have influenced the point I bought in. Damn....

price is dropping yet difficulty is rising .  Huh Angry Embarrassed

That's because many people have a lot of faith in this coin and the fact that each coin will be worth way more in the future.

They're not mining for daily profits.  They're mining for the future.

I mined this coin when it was worthless (not even on exchanges) and manged to get a few hundred a day with my crappy laptop.  My mining profits per day at that point was $0 per day.  But now it works out that I was in fact mining $200 a day or so..

Mining for the future Wink

+1

Price is actually quite stable relative to other Cryptos.

For me:

mine -> hold.

For Darkcoin:

DarkCoin -> DarkSend (complete) -> Marketing -> Attention (press, etc) -> Price Rise.  In that order.

Yeah, some people (miners for eg) have short term goals, others long term.  Some want to mine and trade to BTC or other asap, others will mine and hold long term.

...the people than made tons in bitcoin were the ones who were mining it when it was worth nothing (their elec cost was higher than the mining profit) and held it till it was worth a ton.  I always keep that in mind.

I mine and hold.  I've yet to sell a single DRK.

buy now while its low  Wink

Only thread in the entire altcoins sections where someone saying this EXACT phrase, doesn't really mean ''Buy while I dump this shitty coin on you" but actually means DO buy it, cause it really won't be low in a short time.

Hell, people in the rabbit coin thread were saying buy while it's still low - while at the same time they were being removed from both exchanges carrying them (mintpal and cryptorush). Hilarious.
