I've searched a bit but didn't find any decred faucets (nothing on OP). I want to test it a bit and get used to it. Is there any faucets where I can get a bit of free DCR?

Unfortunately not

Oh, it's kinda sad. I have to buy some then. What will happen next with DCR price, any opinions?

Decred - The crypto which implements all the features needed in a one package with good governance-system. Hodling and staking since start.

yes. DCR has got a spectacular increase for 2 weeks and it's quite stable increase nowadays .
I'm very impressive with this coin and I will hold it for a while .

Solo staking tip!
I tried staking with the default config for the last couple weeks, but never got any tickets using the auto buyer.  After some tuning, I did get it to start winning ticket auctions. Here's what I changed:
Quote
; the ticket prices swings up and down by 2 or 3 times, so the default 1.25 prevents you from bidding
ticketbuyer.maxpricerelative=5

; when ticket prices are low, the fees are higher than the default config max
; so pick something higher than 0.1, but not much higher (0.2 is good but still often too low to win any auctions)
ticketbuyer.maxfee=0.34478

; avoid buying tickets when the prices are too high
ticketbuyer.maxpriceabsolute=50

There's alot more to consider, and I think the staking guide could use alot of improvement. I've only just gotten started so I'm sure others have better suggestions.  Otherwise pool staking is more reliable at this point.

Luckily this should get easier once the vote completes and the new stake difficulty is implemented.

Ya I was thinking the same. New algo should eliminate those peaks and dips in difficulty, making the variance from period to period much less.

I thought version 1.0 should have fixed the swinging ticket prices? Did I read wrong? since prices are still going all over the place

It has been corrected, but run only when a vote is over:
https://voting.decred.org/

This is essence of Decred. Voting deciding instead of hard forks.

Huh im a bit confused now I thought we can vote on new proposals that automaticly could execute a hardfork? I thought latest update was a fix for things like the balance issue paymetheus had and the swinging ticket price, but maybe I dont remember correctly. Not complaining about the ticket price but everyone (including myself) only buys when its like 40dcr a ticket.

You've got half of it! Yes, 1.0 gives us ability to use tickets for voting on proposals, but not the algo fix. One of the first 2 proposals we're currently voting on is ticket price algo update. If (when) that passes, then we'll see the update roll out.

I suggest bookmarking this gem: https://voting.decred.org/ Cheesy Cheesy

Also, https://dcrstats.com/ has nice charts at bottom of page for voting proposals.

Ah oke thanks, 2nd one was allready onmy bookmarks, the first one is now also Wink

I'd be interested to know: who here is mining decred?

I am dual mining ETC (instead of ETH, because ETC is immutable) and DCR.

ETC won't be going anywhere compared to ETH. You'd be better off just mining DCR Cheesy

DCR is the #1 coin in cryptospace, or at least top 5.

I think it's becoming well-known that it's at least a top 10 coin...
For it to kick something else out of top 10, it has to go up ~5x... Even top 20 requires 2x...

I know what I'm buying.

Only 21 million coin...  Roll Eyes

In my mind this fact it's a huge differential!
