Hey guys! Im on board!

What is it more profitable to mine right now? POS or POW?

It depends the price you pay for your electricity and your hardware power consumption. But if you are in for long-term mind, you can also mine, even if not profitable in this moment and stash your POW-profit to POS.

Product has been good since start.. Now we also have visibility, good work @dbt1033

I agree about @dbt1033 undoubtedly, but you've been a most helpful community member as well, @Penttikuisma, along with @Praxis. You all deserve some praise imo! Smiley

Thanks, I appreciate it =) And agree with @Praxis

It's all mathematics...!
I've been in Slack for about six months now; I never really go there due to the lack of community participation, but holy geez has the Slacktivity increased exponentially!!  To me, this is equally exciting as the bump in price, as every great coin seems to have equally strong participation on this forum and in Slack.

It's time for the DCR OG's (myself not included) to make some new channels and really keep this community fire burning!! Grin

I couldn't agree more! DBT is doing a great job on slack and I think the "DCR OG's" should make him the community manager!

Let's make good things happen  Shocked Shocked Shocked Cool

Cheers and goodnight from NY

Is there only 3.5 millions DCR in circulation right now ?!

The Proof of Stake process actually locks coins for a short period of time, so around 33% of the available supply is actually off market.

You can monitor this information here:  www.dcrstats.com

This sounds promising except theres no support to deal with another 67% of supply. It can go down with the help of a fart, similar to how u trigger avalanche by an accident belch or a cellphone sound ringtone.

Unless most of it belongs to one whale who's been accumulating since the beginning and will start dumping when the price peaks (i.e. when there're no more sellers and only buyers).

The whales are staking.  Coins locked.  You should be staking too Wink

The developers promised not to spend or stake (much? i don't recall the exact details) for one year. That ends on Feb 8. That could make a big splash. No?

You think the developers are going to dump their stash at bottom?  Like they would submit new code to github every day for an entire year and then sell the lowest prices?  The majority of funds are actually locked until Feb 2018 (The C0 funds).  The developers have much smaller bags than the corporation.

Only company0 has throttled staking, the devs are allowed to.  I know for a fact they are all staking so their coins are locked up anyway.  Nothing to worry about.

You could say these things for any other altcoin ... hell, you could say the same for Bitcoin. What if Satoshi starts selling his stash? You can keep saying "what if, what if, what if" and keep scaring away from all investments, you'll miss another train.
...

Exactly, that's how all crypto markets work. And this is good because there'd be no price action otherwise. It can scare only someone who gets this wrong. Decred hasn't had its bubble yet.

What's with all the paranoid ideas? No, there's not just 1 whale accumulating who will sell everything at once and no, the 67% of remaining coins are not an issue.

The point is to think in probabilities not in "what ifs". Everything is possible, but is it probable? that's the question.
I think it's far more likely that there's no single whale and that people won't start selling all simultaneously for some magical reason.
Instead they will keep staking and holding, most of them, like we are doing now and plan to do for the foreseeable future.
