Since the official date of airdrop isn't announced yet. I think the registration process should be made open for a few days as I can see many people were not able to sign up for the airdrop.
This would just increase the number of sockpuppets.

I would argue against that. There was plenty of time for anyone interested to get in, it was pushed back for a week to give people more time already. Pushing it back further would mean that people involved who should be doing the pre-testing the testnet and doing other needed work would need to go back to looking through the applications again, further delaying potential progress. If people are interested they can buy on launch, i plan to do so.

Do we have a date for testnet/mainnet yet?

Testnet binaries should be out soon. Mainnet will be evaluated against that - the original stated goal was one week after testnet.
Cheesy thanks. We are waiting for it . I need an exchange asap cause i have to buy some on the very begining:D

I doubt you have one hour. If you visit the Decred forum you can see the number of users with ready rigs for mining and users with BTC prepared to buy.

Me as well. Probably I will buy some at the exchanges when they are out.

I really like the concept and the participation rate at the Airdrop was quite huge.

Good luck!

The best way to work against sockpuppets left after dev's checks is to set some low orders for there dumps to become your buys. That way those who missed the airdrop will get cheap coins & coins will be in hands of someone who wants to help in voting & staking & also well divesrsified. I am sure no cheaters got enough coins to affect decentralization/voting so dumping their coins is best way for them to make profit.

I agree.  Also, based on the number of total submissions versus the final number of accepted particpants that also submitted an address (8,793 total, 3,244 successful participants -- in other words ~64% rejected), I don't imagine all that many scammers made it through anyways.

Certainly there will be some since no process is perfect, but it is highly unlikely to be as bad as some of the trolls (who are, frankly, probably most likely lying anyways given they never followed up when specifically engaged about the supposed duplicates that made it through by _ingsoc) on this thread would like to lead people to believe.

Is anyone gonna listen to this guy ?

The response is here:

However, in response to community concern, and as a show of good faith, the project has decided to conduct another (and final) sweep of the database to check its integrity and remove problematic entrants that are identified as fraudulent. The outcome of this may result in each successful participant receiving slightly more coins than stated - but no less than 258.93958076.
IMO these "security checks" raises the thrust of the community in Decred pretty much
Yeah and first of all, we get rid of sockpuppets. They would just dump their coins at the first chance for some pennies. Filtering sockpuppets also influences the whole ecosystem of a coin

It's all mathematics...!

What bothers me,

c0's % of the premine should be priced at $1.00 per decred. The price "at which this project may be able to sustain itself at 10% subsidy"

(Beyondtext said "If we assume the value of 1 decred averages to USD 1.00 over the first year, this means we'll have USD 302K to spend on development work.  This is a small amount of funding and can pay for 3-4 full time developers for 1 year, so if we went below 10% dev subsidy it would mean the project cannot fund itself unless its exchange rate is well over USD 1.00 per decred")

But then c0's guaranteed 400,000 decred PoS awards in year 1 MUST also be considered in the "compensation package".
This 400,000 "free and guaranteed" PoS is more than the dev fund receives in year 1, yet is totally unaccounted for in the c0 "compensation package"

c0 "imply" they are not seeking profit here. They just say they want "compensation for bring up costs" = $420,000. ok fair enough.
But, c0's "compensation package" is structured to produce 3x that figure = "compensation for bring up cost + 200% profit"
(100% profit at launch + 100% profit in yr 1. based on decred price "at which this project may be able to sustain itself at 10% subsidy")

So, a fairer "compensation package for bring up costs" would be something like,
TOTAL received by c0 at end year1 (premine + PoS) = 420,000 decred.
(ALL the premine/distribution/PoS figures would need changing)

Just let Decreds concensus process take care of new ideas and changes, it's not Bitcoin where PoW miners can easily block a consensus change.

This is Decred where consensus is mutilated and deliberately violated, where significant 34% minorities are being pressured and forced into major changes to consensus rules. Like it or lump it... This is a joke!

You know whats a joke? Less than 1% of the bitcoin community deciding everything and 99% are being forced to major changes to concensus rules, like it or lump it... this is what u call a joke.
You couldn't say it better. I don't know why people start to complain about this consensus stuff. This is a privilege. Very few coins offered you something like this.

Actually no coins offer what this coin offers! No doubt that has grabbed some attention in the community...

someday we will write books about this...but for now

Prepare for more paid shills...

In total, 3,244 participants have successfully completed the airdrop confirmation process through the submission of a Decred address. The airdrop opened with the public announcement of Decred on December 15th, 2015 and closed on January 18th, 2016. The airdrop sign up was open for 34 days and participants joined the project from 99 different countries.

I'm thrilled.  Cheesy 99 countries out of 196 total count for our entire planet means already more than 50% of countries.
