I posted this elsewhere but I'm going to copy it here as it's the main DGC thread :

There has been a lack of publicly posted information since Baritus resigned, I'm going to set that right in this post.

Personally I favoured an immediate announcement when Baritus resigned but waited for an official notice from the DGC foundation.

This official notice didn't come so here's my version of it :

Baritus resigned with zero notice last week, he dumped the DGC. ARG and SRC projects to concentrate on the CryptoAve software.

A few days after resigning as coin dev Baritus announced that CryptoAve will close as an operating exchange and will in the future after further development work be available for licensing as a turnkey exchange package for anyone who wants to open a Crypto exchange of their own.

Ahmed has taken over coin development and has been doing some great work modernising the coin.

You can't get more blunt than that. Baritus still exists as a holder and perhaps as a miner but he's no longer participating in coin development. It's up to anyone who's left to make any changes deemed necessary now.

This is where things started to change. Late last month Baritus proposed some changes in this thread on our forum :

http://digitalcoin.co/forums/index.php/topic,1243.0.html

After some initial replies to the above post he then disappeared from the forum for about a week, mentioned something about not having time to develop the coin. Then he resigned.

The new changes since Baritus has left are going to be as follows :

"Of the technical changes being discussed, all agreed to pursue a multi algorithm system with three algorithms - scrypt,  sha256, and x11."

" It was finally agreed to stay with 40 second per algorithm block rate, and a 5 DGC per algorithm block reward.  Ahmed will adjust the initial difficulties before launch."

"Ahmed will be doing most of this work, and everything will be implemented in a testnet so that all changes can be thoroughly tested before release. "

Testing is ongoing on testnet at the moment.

There are also going to be changes to the way the difficulty is calculated although I'm not familiar with them.

As for Baritus, I haven't seen him around much since his resignation apart from the time he came back to announce the closure of CryptoAve.

From the CryptoAve thread on our forum :

http://digitalcoin.co/forums/index.php/topic,1262.0.html

"CryptoAve.Com will cease to operate as an exchange on September 15th, 9:00 PM GMT. Please withdraw all your coins and make any share trades before then. "

Yeah, mining has gone to shit along with the sea of shitcoins/scamcoins.  Not too many altcoins over a year old holding any value anymore.  DGC will buck that trend and come out on top.

Live like there is no tomorrow!
It's sad to hear that Baritus is leaving. He made a great coin. DigitalCoin has Always been one of my favorite altcoins (and still is).

Let's hope the Digitalcoin Foundation brings this coin to a higher level. The coin deserves this, and Baritus too for all his efforts.

Hey, stop by irc (#digitalcoin) sometime and say hello.  Are you still mining away or giving up on that already?

Hi Techbytes, I haven't spoke you in a while Wink.  I quit mining specific coins with my GPU miner as it broke a couple of months ago and the electricity costs aren't making mining profitable anymore. Allthough, I do have some cloud Mh/s now, but I'm unable to point them to a specific pool / pool of a specific coin.

I'm quite busy these days, but I'll stop by soon Smiley.

Looks like the transition of DGC to the community brought some attention to DGC, as I see its value rising Smiley.

I saw that but I think the Crypto Ave and the Digitalcoin Bank are two different entities. From what I understand the DGC bank was to come later.

could this coin which is at such low price be useful in actual usage ?
the author is long gone and no actual updating could be seen from the past to the future.why you guys still care this coin?
no offense

The author resigned three days ago.

All sorts of multiple algorithm stuff is now being worked on. DGC is changing for the better.

There are changes in the works for DGC.  Digitalcoin Foundation will be more transparent and active with the development of DGC.

Buying DGC on Cryptsy now, join in on the buy low sell high Starship. Sold some CTM for LTC, LTC for BTC, sold some HBN for BTC, bought some DRK and 2261 DGC & raised the buy orders a bit. Woohoo! Tongue

Reading toward the end of the post it seems this was supposed to be some kind of extension of cryptoave.com?

What about the people who invested, sent DGC to Baritus for the Bank of Digitalcoin last year?

That would be between those people and baritus. Assuming this is in reference to cryptoave.com?  Baritus posted about that here: http://digitalcoin.co/forums/index.php/topic,1262.0.html

Sadly, here are the latest news from Baritus quitting the development of DGC and closing CryptoAve within 7 days.

http://digitalcoin.co/forums/index.php/topic,1261.msg9244.html#new

Hello,

As of this moment, I am passing on all lead development responsibilities to the Digitalcoin foundation (http://digitalcoin.foundation). I will no longer be developing the new versions, that responsibility will be up to the developers in the foundation. I am fully confident that the foundation will take DGC to new levels for all the community.

I will still be involved in the community in many other ways and will continue to host the website and forums.

Regards,
Baritus

Hello,

After discussion with the major CryptoAve shareholders, other admins of payment processing services, and the admins of crypto exchanges, the CryptoAve project will undergo a major overhaul.

Currently, shareholders are not achieving any returns on their investment due to a lack of trading activity. I do not believe it is likely that the situation will change due to a multitude of factors, not least of which is the inability for us to offer USD trading to US citizens (which are the majority of traders).

CryptoAve.Com will cease to operate as an exchange on September 15th, 9:00 PM GMT. Please withdraw all your coins and make any share trades before then.

The CryptoAve software will then go into re-development to turn it into a licensed exchange system. We will offer an easy to use, secure, and tested exchange software for a licensing fee. Anyone will be able to get a copy and start an exchange in less than 15 minutes. The software will be capable of trading any coin with an RPC interface and will be modifiable for the rest.

The payment processing code will go into developing a payment processing module that can be added on to the exchange system.

The shareholders will divide profits based on ownership percentage.  10% of my 51% in shares will be dedicated to re-investment in DGC for the first year of operation.

Thank you for everything you've done to get CryptoAve where it is.

Regards,
Baritus

Don't do anything rash, they have big plans for the coin.

Dev speed being ramped up, expect big changes in everything DGC related, changes very much for the better from what I've heard.

Disclaimer : I am a member of the DGC Foundation which now controls the coin.

As of this weekend, The DigitalCoin Foundation will hereafter assume the development responsibilities of DigitalCoin. Ahmedbodi, an early and reliable supporter of DigitalCoin (and great developer), is assisting with our transition and has accepted the role as developer of DigitalCoin.

The DigitalCoin Foundation will also assume the hosting and maintenance responsibilities of the DigitalCoin Github.

During this transition period, we are working on several technical upgrades to DigitalCoin to further stabilize the network and provide the reliability we've come to expect from our coin both now and into the foreseeable future. More details will be released after the initial testing phase has been completed, but they are very exciting changes!

Rest assured we will continue to improve DigitalCoin with the best intentions and the highest scrutiny.  The DigitalCoin Foundation aims for absolute transparency, so please, I invite any and all questions to be asked - and answered to the best of my (or another foundation member's) ability.

To the future of DigitalCoin - A currency for the digital age!

As part of the foundation, and due to baritus leaving i will be helping out with the development of DGC, ARG and SRC. the foundation will post a statement here in due course

Thanks Ahmed, they're in good hands.

Are there any plans to lower the inflation [subsidy] and dilution [max cap] anytime soon [before the next boom
Comes]?

Thanks and good luck.  I picked up a bit of DGC and ARG cause I think they're very cheap right now.

Cheers!

I am holding on to my 500k DGC.  I'm confident the DGC Foundation will make a smooth transition of the handoff and will make DGC better.
