I also feel that the wallet would be a lot more inherently secure.  If it had separate passwords for unlocking the wallet to mint transactions.  And a separate password for unlocking the wallet for sending transactions.  So as that the wallet is not left open insecure and naked when leaving the wallet for long term minting.

For linux distros Faircoin should really create repo's with all the dependencies included as well as including the wallet software.  Or at least .DEB's for anything Debian based.

Or at least you should have an install section on the wallet downloads page.  Stating that all flavours of Ubuntu and Debian such as Linux mint plus Raspian as well.  Needs several of the following dependencies installed to run the Linux binary:

Code:
sudo apt-get install qt4-qmake libqt4-dev build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev \
        libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev \
        libssl-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev

It could help a lot of non expert Linux users use the FairCoin wallet.

Otherwise is coming one project that will generate some public attention... There are some small details pending but probably will be launched this afternoon.

Hi Enric,

Could you please take a look at my wallet?

I mean you know my address as it was in that list you made a while ago.
If you take a look at the balance before and after the wallet update you will see that there are around 30k coins missing.

Thanks in advance.

Hey ninjaskip i has made a look in your wallet, and all what i have seen is that you are minting without moving coins from may 2014
and your amount is growing slowly for this minting. I dont appreciate coins missing,

Perhaps you has been confused some time, for the minting process, that creates like two new postives transaction, and after that a negative one, when  you mint, in a way that makes the accounting oscilates up an down?

Thanks for having a look Enric,

I will send you a pm.

i'm trying to run rpi wallet but i'm experiencing some problems:

my raspberry is the old one (armv6l with 512mb of ram ) i'm on a fresh installed 2015-02-16-raspbian-wheezy with all updates.

at the first start of ./FairCoin-qt i received various missing dipendency warnings, i resolved with:

apt-get install libboost1.50-all libdb5.1-dev libdb5.1++-dev libminiupnpc-dev

after this finally the wallet starts...

but is just a gray square with no fields and buttons, so for now i can't take a usefull screenshot, the terminal report a bunch of Error:BadDrawable probably because i'm connected to the desktop via VNC seems to be a common problem.

http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=78672

the solution didn't work but the node is up.

so the quest for an HDMI cable can begins  Grin

I think you should try with the daemon and see what happens

I'm running the daemon here and probably overdid it on the apt-get, but what I installed was:

libboost1.50-dev libboost-filesystem1.50-dev libboost-system1.50-dev libboost-program-options1.50-dev libboost-thread1.50-dev libssl-dev libdb5.1++-dev libminiupnpc-dev qt4-qmake libqt4-dev qrencode

What I noticed however is that I couldn't daemonize the FairCoind app using ssh - it worked perfectly from the pi's own terminal. So I'll have to add it to the pi startup at some point Wink

The Crowdfunding campaign is not directly related with FairCoop / FairCoin but the same group funded by this campaign is working also for Faircoop with me,

Also the campaign accepts Bitcoin and Faircoin (alternative ways of payment in the checkout)

@Jack, thanks for supporting the FairCoin network with some mining Smiley

Code:
gen=0
tells the wallet explicitly not to mine. But if you put
Code:
gen=1
in your FairCoin.conf file the wallet will start mining, provided you have it unlocked first.

ehm wasn't this, usually i mine with gpu and sgminer on an unlocked wallet... but this time i was on a locked one i've just forgot this detail.  Grin

Alright guys, seems like i am missing around 30k coins.

How can we sort this out please?

Thanks.

You can write to [email protected]
to show which coins are this missings, and send your sign to show ownership

I suppose, this was coins not touched, neither minted from the first distibution,
if not could be very strange...

I think is just strange, because i do have all my coins in one wallet and i missed the distribution, and also i did run my wallet every now and then to keep up to date.

But i am indeed missing 30k.

So, this has nothing to do with the coin recovery! Did you leave your wallet open after the hard fork? (block 94613) If so, your wallet most probably minted blocks on the wrong chain which confuses it. Do you have any unconfirmed transaction in your transaction list? If so, do a right click in the transaction view and select 'Clear orphans'

regs
Thomas

Thanks for your reply Thomas,

I just cleared the orphans and nothing happened really.(i mean apart from clearing the orphans .. )
I don't think i opened the old wallet after the hard fork, in fact the old wallet in my mac got updated to the new one.

I also don't see any transactions or any coins going out of my wallets, just the balance 30k short.
