Decided I could get the ball rolling on an IRC channel - #fedoracoin-dev

Channel is public for now while everything is getting figured out, let me know if/when you think that should change and I can make it private and set a password.

Getting pretty psyched about this, I knew it was a only a matter of time before the fedoracoin community surfaced  Grin

We already have #fedoracoin, ##fedoracoin-development and ##fedoracoin-marketing on freenode.
Please note that you are not allowed to use a single pound for channels that are not the main discussion channel for a FOSS project on freenode.

Ok cool thatnks for the update, maybe we have enough IRC channels, I know I was on 1 the other day and there was no activity, which ones have the most active community atm?

An API would be nice, and a simple faucet script!  I love it!
Sorry for triple-posting, I should have probably read the entire thread first Smiley

There's an Abe API up here: http://fedorachain.info/chain/Fedora/q

No problem post away. Your ideas and help are helping this move forward. I am in talks right now with some other members, st0ned, and Nthused and we are figuring out the exact plan with design of the website, I meself am not amazing with straigh html and php coding so we are figuring out who will do it and how we should look.

Also that info about the APIis great, good to see there is still so much available that we can utilize.

Wow looks like things are moving fast. Awesome to see the support from withfedoraco.in - thanks for helping the community out by providing hosting. It seems as if a dev team is starting to grow here so I'd like to get involved. While my programming skills are no where near on par with a lot of people on here, as long as I'm working with someone who has a solid understanding of what they're doing then I definitely think I'll be able to accomplish a lot.

I see a lot of initiatives like gambling sites, faucets, merchant services and I think those are definitely going to help propel the visibility of fedora. In particular, I remember doge-dice.com being one of the best implementations of a simple gambling interface that I've seen. If someone's looking to work on some type of gambling sites (I believe there's already one), I think using that as a guideline would be a great start. Having a feature that allows people to invest in the site is what really sets it apart and I think something like that could be extremely helpful for fedora right now since I think there are many people who will invest that are otherwise just throwing away fedora on coinedup right now for next to nothing...

That said, personally I'd like to work on development of something more central to fedoracoin itself. Either forking the github repo for the site like withfedoraco.in mentioned or beginning to work on updates to the actually fedora client itself as I think it could use some work getting cleaned up / modernized / improved with unique features. Both of these need to be done at some point and with the community starting to rally, I couldn't think of a better time to introduce a new website and a clean, updated fedora client.

Are there plans to form an official dev team and maybe create an IRC chat or something of that nature? Keep me posted, I'm open for anything.

At the moment we are going to try and keep it community based just because we are just getting the ball rolling, but down the line we will form an official dev team. If sooner is better than later let me know and it can be discussed.

That being said, we would love to have your help as our ideas for the website start becoming a reality, in the meantime if there i anything you could do on the side, like the IRC channel, is greatly appreciated.

theking7426 I just sent you a PM about hosting, in regards to the domain name(s).  I can offer free hosting if you need, at a very awesome host.  not hostgator or godaddy or any of that crap.  This has shell access, etc.

Long live the FedoraCoin!

Thank you for the offer I will be removing the donation sheet for the domain hosting now as there have been a few offers.
Your domain hosting offer is now going to be added to the discussion but it does look like a promising option. Will keep you posted.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT FOR THE HOSTING EVERYONE, GREATLY APPRECIATED

MystPhysX, theking7426, we'd like to offer hosting for the new site.

We don't plan on officially supporting it, since we have our own things to code, but I think the best thing to do from here is to fork this: https://github.com/icanprogram/fedoraco.in and make the text a bit more serious.
Then, we'll just host that repo for you.

If everyone is OK with that, I'll send nameserver info to MystPhysX

Where's the original website designer's IRC info?

His name is icanprogram, he's also the guy that did the faucet front-end, like theking said.
Here's the source for the site, incidentally.

The faucet and details will be worked out with the withfedoraco.in team later this week.

As for an API that is a great idea to help the community keep track of the coin  Smiley

Hey all - I've been poking around the Fedora community for a while now trying to see if there was any plans to get development started and it looks like I finally found what I've been looking for!!!  I'm not an expert programmer and still somewhat new to the coin-dev community, but I'd like to help with this as it looks like momentum is picking up.

I'll make sure to keep following closely and looking for initiatives, but in the meantime please let me know if a new dev group is being formed as I'd definitely like to be a part of it and support the community any way I can.

Do you think you would be able to make some gambling games that could use TIPS. Dogecoin has a wide variety of games and that is something we are really looking for.

Also, how much do you know about the hosting services for coin games and things like that? Just trying to get a feel for the skills we have at our disposal. If you are willing to of course.

Ya it seemed that way and no problem it is a step in the right direction.
We are working on getting the hosting setup do you have any service you would recommend?
Sorry I don't have any experience with hosting services, I've always hosted on my own servers.

Just wondering, what was your intitial affiliation with Fedoracoin? Like were you part of development or any of that?

Well sure, Invisibel doesn't seem to be around so set something up and I'll point the domain towards you.

Awsome, really appreciate it. Any idea what happened to him btw?

And are you the owner of fedoracoin.net or fedoraco.in or both?
He pretty much dropped off the face of the Earth, he hasn't replied to anything I've sent him in a long time. Unfortunately I only own fedoraco.in so I have no control over fedoracoin.net.
