After the crash of ZEC... I don't think this coin will do something... and with all those new scam clones of ZEC (ZCL, ZDASH,...) it won't help either.

I ended up with 2.69M KMD (i.e. 2.69% of the vote)

I've had a few enquiries so far.

Now that the ICO is over attention should turn towards the coming election.

At one extreme there are tech guys with skills & time to run nodes, but not enough KMD/votes to elect themselves

At the other end there are guys with enough KMD/votes to elect themselves, but not enough time & skills to run a node

Some testnet node operators will have sufficient KMD/votes to elect themselves - my offer is obviously not of interest to you

Some testnet node operators will have arrangements with other large holders now - my offer is probably not of interest to you now (but maybe later)

Some testnet node operators will not have sufficient KMD/votes to elect themselves AND they don't have a current arrangement with another large holder - my offer should be of interest to you!

To those people running testnet notary nodes I will point out the obvious - If you don't get elected, you wont be running a notary node!

I'm looking for a long-term 'set and forget' arrangement. Assuming a standard first-past-the-post voting system, my KMD/vote quota should be enough to guarantee ~1.5 notary nodes ... Forever!

I accumulated BTCD since 2014 in the hope of securing a hassle free income stream for many years, I'm planning to hodl my KMD for many many years.

If you want a hassle free income stream for many many years too, but you're not 100% sure that you'll get elected, and KEEP getting elected, then my offer might be worth considering.

If I can't come to a mutually beneficial long-term relationship then I'll bite the bullet and pay someone to setup and manage a node for me, and I'll keep 100% of the profits.

BUT, I'd be happy with 50% of the profits if I didn't have to worry about ANYTHING.

Komodo uses the same zkSNARK parameters as Zcash.  We have not generated them, we are using what the Zcash team has created.   Genesis Block creation  is different than zkSNARK creation.     

As of this time we have no reason to doubt that the Zcash team performed its parameter generation without collusion towards the end of "creating money out of thin air".    What people seem to forget is that the Zcash team is a legitimate company and many who are on their team are well-respected professionals.  If collusion did happen between the participants of the parameter generating ceremony, the company would be in a hell of a lot of legal trouble  not to mention many of the individuals careers would be over.   The consequences of being caught combined with the limited amounts of gains from collusion  ( only profitable if amount of transparent coins is under the amount of coin supply ) makes the likelihood of the toxic waste having been reassembled very minuscule.

In addition the extensive "ceremony" used in parameter generation makes it very unlikely that an outside party would have compromised them.


As to why we do not generate our own parameters and have our own ceremony

1)  We could not accomplish the same degree of security and procedure that the Zcash team had for the ceremony.
2)  Having our own ceremony would do nothing to alleviate the constant FUD surrounding the infintismal likelihood of the "toxic waste" being reassembled, and would in fact just bring in more illegitimate criticisms because we would not have done an extensive ceremony as Zcash did or rumors that the Komodo team was somehow colluding.

By using their parameters we rid ourselves of that headache.

As it stands right now, Komodo will do its best to launch in 2 weeks  and all appears to be on track for that,  if some issue arises that we have to delay  we will  however  we will not delay for no reason.

Where a platform for buying and selling Komodo?

Ok so if we have invested with BTC we should wait for distribution of KMD?
Can you tell us what will be procedure to get both KMD and those Assets for BTC investors? Or we just have to wait for few more weeks to know about what we have to do?

The ICO phase was for BTC investors and BTCD peoples didnt have to do anything.
The next phase is for BTCD peoples, BTC investors dont need to do anything.

When the BTCD is into the ICO site, then we can do the elections and distribute the KMD.

We are now waiting for the ICO site to accept BTCD. If you invested with BTC, nothing you need to do.

Notary node candidates

The deadline to become a candidate is next Sunday, November 27th 3PM UTC.

The election will happen roughly one week from that, but no exact date for it yet.

In newsletter #7 we said the following:

There are four regions and within each region, there is a separate election. With each KMD you can vote once in each region.

In other words, we could simply say 1 KMD = 1 vote on each region. There are 100M KMD, so each region will get 100M votes.

We will do an election guide, where we explain how the election process goes in detail.
