gpu miner = bad idea.
cpu only  = good idea

gpu miner = secure network
cpu only = botnet control

Seriously, the CPU supporters are either quite ignorant or botnet ops.

Heheh the botnet ops used bots to vote for CPU Cheesy

Is it known how much time it will take for all 250 000 000 coins to be mined?

Im sure you can do the math, it starts with roughly 250k a day.

This will be possible to mine from the Wallet yes? How would mine from Wallet, what command?

Wallets are not yet released, so, no-one knows the answer to this question for sure. BUT the indication is (from the pre-ann) thatyou can mine directly from the wallet. When you can download the wallet then you can be 100% sure of this.

gotta say guys for someone who has never successfully mined and only has a cpu im getting quite excited about this and hopefully can get my hands on a good few mined coins for the first time!

You should do ok if you jump in the MOMENT the pools (or coin) go live, be as fast as you can, early birds always catch the worm in Crypto!

I am happy that this will be cpu only so that person who bought computer graphic cards for speculations(instead of gaming) will not get advantage of it.

I would rather see botnets making money of it than some speculator with mining rig.

Heil to Max!!

I suspect some people will have gpu mining capability within an hour of launch. For the rest of us it's CPU only Sad

Bot net joins pool.

 Cheesy

We aren't talking about creating a new network of zombie machines here, we are talking about people who can rent an existing botnet/use one they operate themselves.

Depending on the individual download speed of each machine, we're looking at a matter of minutes before that machine is mining away.

So how are they going to get the bots mining?  Where will they get the code to mine from?  You are assuming the devs release the code immediately on git.  If they don't do you honestly think they can reverse engineer the code from an exe that quick?

Is this guy trolling us? Another CPU only supporter, I assume.

I have plenty of gpu's but I like the idea of this coin being cpu only.  Anyway waiting for the answer to my question.  Maxcoin uses a modded sha-3 algorithm so waiting for you to tell me how the bot controllers are going to get hold of the code so quickly and get on their networks in minutes.

You really don't know how botnets work do you? Imagine an IRC channel, with hundreds of zombies listening for your trigger command to execute. It will take the botnet as long as it takes a solo miner to start mining away.

LMAO..  yes I know.  Right tell me.  How does the cpu on that controlled computer mine?

Now as far as I am aware the wallet for this coin will contain the mining code and the wallet will do the mining.  So unless that code is released straight away then the people who run the bot nets will not have access to the code.  Without access to the code how can they run anything to mine on the controlled computer?

For a cpu to mine it has to have something executed on that machine.  Be it via an executable or a script running in something like a browser.  So if the bot net owners only have a wallet and no source code HOW CAN they activate the mining on a controlled cpu Smiley  They cant.  So going back to what I said initially.  HOW will the bot nets be active in minutes when as far as I'm aware the code will not be available straight away.

You know a program can run in the background without showing any obvious signs in the GUI right? Either you are trolling or I am wasting my time hammering an iron nail in a rock. In any case, I am done.

Until a seperate getwork miner is released bot nets will not be an issue period. Thus at first the distribution of coins shall be fair because it is a level playing field with the lowest common denominator (CPU).

If they release a pool before the release and they issue a seperate miner (not even GPU maybe), then I'll be far away from mining this and probably buying maxcoin as possible.

Ok Well I had not seen that post.

This line though

"These should also be ready for launch and for use with pools"  Does indicate a separate miner but if this does not get released on Wednesday at 7.30 then my comments still stand.  However if they do release this then yes Bot Nets will just be able to use it.

Lets hope they don't release the miner for a while then that will hold back the Bot Nets  ( AS I POINTED OUT )

I am wasting my time with you it seems as clearly you do not have a clue.  You are assuming there is mining software.  If the only mining software is the wallet then no bot net unless you are about to tell me the bot net will transfer the wallet onto the target machine, execute it and then connect to transfer coins to its own wallet LMAO.

Anyway I have software to write and don't have the time to teach muppets the obvious.

There will be mining software separate from the wallet available at launch. Already confirmed by the devs.

Where was it confirmed?  Iv been following their twitter and the only thing I have seen ( apart from indicating the miner will be in the wallet ) is when they asked if someone could do a gpu miner before wednesday.
