This project looks promising, it looks like a better fork of Monero than some the others out there, such as SumoCoin which is struggling to get off the ground even with a large fan base.

Great ANN, just enough to wet our appetite for a brand new (?) monero fork, and the upcoming POW phase. Just please don't start introducing surprises like 15% premine, ICOs, MN etc..

Well, I hate to disappoint Aris, but there is a premine, a private sale, and the concept depends entirely on 'masternodes.'

However, we will be absolutely transparent about the exact details of the sale and premine, and it's all done through a registered non-for-profit entity in Australia.

As for the masternodes, they deserve the bad reputation that they have. As far as token economics go, they are astonishingly good at creating an unnatural upward pressure on coins that don't deserve the caps that they have because they restrict the liquidity of the coin and often fall prey to being operated by a select few parties who effectively act like an oligarchy on the network. If you read our WP, you'll see some of the changes we are introducing to this model to make them more equitable. The reason we are using them is because of the opportunity they present to function as the incentive layer for a trustless decentralized comms network, not because they can jack up the price of a coin, hence our renaming of them to Service Nodes.

They also serve to help balance out the enormous transaction size that Monero and it's derivatives have. At least in this system, nodes are paid to operate, despite your average Monero transaction weighting in at 13 kB (although perhaps less with bulletproofs, but still comparativley very large for networks that attempt to be censorship resistant and distributed).

I did not find Airdrop information Huh

Thank you John (?), always refreshing to get a detailed and pragmatic response. I did read the whitepaper, actually interesting, especially proposing to use bulletproofs.

I see changes in the not-too-distant future of privacy coins, with Monero introducing bulletproofs and increasing (maybe) the mixin amount, as well as (probably) changing their algo to ward off Asics, something to consider.

I have no interest in MN, quite obvious from my post above, but I certainly understand their use case, as I also fully understand that this is your project, and you must do what is best for its future. I would however request that all announcements are made concurently here, the telegram (which I refuse to use), and maybe a discord if possible. I am interested in the project, including a presale, so it would be nice to know about it here, or at the very least, include a mailing list.

All the best with the launch and look forward to supporting the project.

What are the strengths of this project?

You can have a read over the whitepaper and check out the details, but essentially were trying to solve the issue of having incentivzed nodes except doing it with a private currency
once you have a layer of nodes you can do cool things like route encrypted messages ontop of those nodes, we go into more detail about how this is possible in the paper

Whitepaper

Technology

Loki combines a private transaction network based on Monero with economically incentivised service nodes to create a trustless quorum based networking protocol. This protocol allows anyone to route small packets of data in an anonymous and decentralised way. The front end applications that use this packet routing system are private-by-design, and are known as Service Node Apps “SNApps”; the first of which is the Loki Messenger - a decentralised, anonymous and private messaging service.

Value Proposition

A private-by-default protocol that builds on proven cryptographic schemes and allows the creation of decentralised, resilient and oppression-free apps for real-word use.

Loki Messenger

Using the Signal protocol, this private messaging service will be implementing cutting edge encryption schemes including Off The Record messaging and Axolotl Ratchets. This will enable Loki Messenger to be the only fully decentralised service with perfect forward-secrecy and deniable authentication.

Team
