This is really sohcking. I was interested in EGEM because it seemed like a good opportunity and a cleaner ELLA with no centralization.
But from the look of things, these guys are really scammers. They advertised no premine, but there's a huge premine as some people have already pointed out. Just check the address:
0x5abfec25f74cd88437631a7731906932776356f9
It's legit.
EGEM is really a huge nightmare after I saw this, and then looked up its history. Turns out it was originally called "ELLAGEM." But then the devs couldn't even agree on which coin they wanted to base themselves off of. So they decided to go off of the more popular ethereum, and somehow, despite all the code, they did some night hours monkeying and changed their whole coin so that it runs as an Ethereum clone instead rather than an Ella clone, so now it's EtherGem LOL.
If you don't believe me, you can see their history yourself if you research it.
And now they sneakily put in this premine... oh no....
This is just the first day. Things will be corrected. No premine. We are working out the details now. More info to follow.
How can you just say "this is just the first day?" You sound like those wallets that got hacked and all you can say is, "lol this is just the first oversight. Dw, it'll be fixed bby."
HOW DO YOU MISS A 12 PERCENT PREMINE? Dude! Did you guys just copy and paste the ethereum code, then slap on the EGEM name?
I'm not trying to be a dick, but c'mon, you're overly downplaying this obviously huge deal.
You have, what, 10 devs on your team. All of them missed the 12% premine. I think that speaks to a lot of your competencies. I hope everyone takes note of who the core team is so they can watch out for these people in the future. It's obvious they're either highly incompetent or scammers.
Anytime any of them are on a project, make sure to scrutinize that project with enough depth and voracity to make sure there's some legitimacy.
I mean like, how does that happen? When you say there's no premine, aren't you supposed to literally check for a premine. Like, you know, using due diligence, and logic, this should be the very first step.
No other eth clones have had an issue this big... look at ETC, ELLA, and others.
Ironically, if you had just stuck with being based off of Ella, you would never have fun into this problem because Ella's code is original. But since you copied Eth's code, it came with Vitalik's original premine...
So I mean, even if this "accidental premine" is fixed. How do we know your project is legit? What if we invest or mine EGEM and waste electricity and money, and then suddenly there's some other huge hole that ends up happening because you guys didn't see it?
I will watch EGEM, because I believe some of you on the core team are truly trying to make a project worth being made. I hope you guys step it up and cover for the other devs who miss these holes.
