anyone?

The "Likely to be Geistnet?:" should be true. Try recompiling and using the default geist.conf without any changes, it should be OK.

Thanks. Got it working. I shoudnt have changed it conf file too much.

Hi,

I want to try this out. It seems strange though.... After all the configs are done... When the file "GeistGeld_Portable_Cons" is running it seems it is connecting to the server... Do I need also the regular GUI miner that came with files running also ?

Where do I know the hashing speed and how many coins rewarded are there ?

Got the source downloaded to my Ubuntu machine and compiled it successfully. Started the daemon and it started to download the blocks, but it stopped at 99.

Any ideas why?

Getinfo shows:

{
    "version" : 36977,
    "balance" : 0.00000000,
    "blocks" : 99,
    "connections" : 10,
    "proxy" : "",
    "generate" : false,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "difficulty" : 1.00000000,
    "hashespersec" : 0,
    "Likely to be Geistnet?" : false,
    "keypoololdest" : 1319965096,
    "paytxfee" : 0.00000000,
    "errors" : ""
}

Is the item "Likely to be Geistnet?:" supposed to be false?

PS: and yes, my date/time is synched via NTP.

I don't mind it anymore, I checked on the BTC exchange no buyers, a bit discouraging.

Is GG dead now?

I have collected thousands of GG coins as it was fun to mine, but the pricing at BTC does not look too appealing, wonder if the developer has any plan for this coin.

Yeah, no one will ever do a 51% attack on Geist, as there is simply nothing to double-spend on  Cheesy. Heck, there's nothing to simple-spend on either !!!

10000 at once is too much.
Assuming your inputs are block rewards (7 GG each), you're trying to create a transaction with 1429 inputs.
each input is ~230 bytes -> that'd be a ~330kB tx.
Stock client refuses to create transactions > 100kB.
So if all you have are generations, either do 3000GG or less at a time, or if it has to be a single tx send to yourself first to consolidate your generations into a few bigger outputs.

Thanks a lot, I should have thought so. Then again, I had never experimented with such a big transaction. Good thing to have in mind with all the alt chains.

Why the interface GUI for GG is very different from other currency clients?
Tenebrix has a nice interface which is very easy to send & receive coins.
While in GG client it is very hard to use every option.
Every time we have to wait & check with getinfo whether we got NTP connection or not.
Also to check balance have to use getinfo & cannot copy address that easily.
Also no address book to see stored address.
While the default bitcoin has all these facilities, why GG for windows created & forced to use commands instead of GUI?

Getting transaction error:
Code:
user@miner:~$ ./ggd sendfrom "" .... 10000
error: {"code":-4,"message":"Error: Transaction creation failed  "}
(address removed from paste)
The same thing happens with sendtoaddress  command
my getinfo:
Code:
{
    "version" : 36977,
    "balance" : 10095.36637813,
    "blocks" : 149802,
    "connections" : 8,
    "proxy" : "",
    "generate" : false,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "difficulty" : 34.51992560,
    "hashespersec" : 0,
    "Likely to be Geistnet?" : true,
    "keypoololdest" : 1318209102,
    "paytxfee" : 0.00000000,
    "errors" : ""
}
Been mining solo for a few days, with properly forwarded ports.
I tried to recompile the daemon, but the error remains.
I tried to change the transaction fee to 1 GG and to 10 GG but nothing again.

Any ideas?

Hillariously voracious
Warning about NTP means that you are best to restart - most likely, you've merely got a shitty NTP server talking to you (I find the "ntp=0 crowd strikes again" to be somewhat implausible at this point), but better safe than sorry.

I am just curious what is the warning about the NTP for?  Is it something we should configure?
