Can you beat a brand new S2 for $1450 on Amazon?
um....
if there's coupon left, then the bitmain's S2 will be $1255  Grin

I'm pretty sure all of the $400 coupons expired on June 27th  Embarrassed

$1450?... I don't know if I'd trust a seller without any feedback yet. I can discount by $110 though now! New price is $1529.99. I also have a bunch of single batch #1 S3s for sale (and 2-packs), but I would recommend buying directly from Bitmain (minimum order of 2) if you have the bitcoin since they're cheaper than I can offer when accounting for Amazon fees.

Yeah, mine expired on the 27th too. Do you offer tech support or have a policy for DOA units?

I do offer support upon request, but I've been fortunate and very few people have needed any. Those who have needed help were mostly unfamiliar with networking. I've only had 1 customer claim to have a DOA unit and I refunded him in full upon returning it to me. I was able to get the unit running right away, so I'm guessing it was another networking issue  Huh

A humble Siberian miner
I just made a heater savings calculation
so 10 antminers (or equivalent kw) would save ~40% of the gas bill. Not bad.
even better if you pay higher nat gas price (i see that it is ~30% higher in new England)
I should pay attention to it here, in Siberia... The winter is getting closer each day...  Roll Eyes

Does anyone know if there is a firm shipping date for S3 Batch 1?  Huh Huh

I think that Bitmain said that they would start shipping Batch 1 orders around the 14th.

But I would not call that firm.  They start assembling boards, heatsinks, fans, covers tomorrow.

The s1 only draw 370 watts instead of 1500 for regular space heater, and the fans are more powerful so would throw more heat around a larger space too.

Just mount the S1's in the HVAC ducts and your whole house benefits from the heat  Grin

In January and February I had s1s that were roi positive too.

But now they are not because the difficulty has gone up too much.

My point is it mines less now because the difficulty is 16.8 b not 4.3 b was in March.   Its hard to pay more than $80 for a s1 now if it can only mine about .13 btc.   I would rather buy .13 btc on Coinbase than pay more for a s1.

It will have a value as a heater starting in October. Which heater "almost" pays for itself plus reduce the gas bill?

Yes this was the good idea they had earlier. Or maybe some people can sneak into the office and use their electricity.

I just made a heater savings calculation
My house used 232 CCF of nat gas for ~$200 in january 2014
103100 btu/CCF
Antminer (almost all heat) at 190GH uses~400W=1364.85btu/h
1364.85X24x30.5 (average days in a mo)=999070 btu
hence, one antminer saves 9.69 CCF in heating/mo or $8.35mo, so 10 antminers (or equivalent kw) would save ~40% of the gas bill. Not bad.

They can mine about .185 btc left with .08 cents electricity in China.

.08 btc with .16 electricity like most of USA.

.01 btc with .30 electricity like alot of Europe.

even mining.thegenesisblock gives better numbers:

$220 in revenue in 3 mo with ~$90 in expenses
after that-pencil mod and another month of profitability.
total profit $145  or 0.228 BTC
assumed $0.12/kwh in electricity (this is what i pay in US) and $634/BTC

Your .12 electricity and 634 btc price will mine .129 btc lifetime.

this can't be right, unless you are subtracting the electricity cost. all calculators show ~0.3BTC total (BEFORE subtracting the electricity cost).
if you are assuming 18% jump every 10 days-it is simply NOT going to happen, unless hardware market goes truly crazy.

YES is after electric cost.  You have to add this.  If someone has a BFL minirig, they can claim mines at 500gh, but uses 2400 watts!  is crazy, is as useless as BFL Jalepeno, Single 30 0r 60, ASM Cube.

At 16.8 B difficulty:

July 7-11   16.8 b diff 180gh at 370 watts mines .0054 btc per day x 5 days.  At $632 per btc is $2.40 per day - $1.07 = $2.33 per day profit.  This is $11.65
July 12-23  19.8 b diff
July 24-Aug 5  23.4 b diff
Aug 6- Aug 18  27.6 b diff
Aug 19- Aug 31  32.6 b diff
Sept 1 - Sept 13  38.5 b diff
Sept 14 - Sept 26  45.4 b diff
Sept 27 - Oct 9  53.6 b diff

This is the way to calculate it, by each day within each difficulty period.

since you assume 18% difficulty, it is going to be incorrect.
According to all calculators in march of 2014, antminer S1 could barely brake even, but it had a 25% ROI in BTC plus residual value that exceeded electricity+PSU.
I am going to revisit this post on october 6. My prediction diff less than 46b. If  it is at 54b, ALL mining is useless.

YES is after electric cost.  I should say ROI .129.    You have to add the electricity cost to be realistic.  If someone has a BFL minirig, they can claim mines at 500gh, but uses 2400 watts!  is crazy, is as useless as BFL Jalepeno, Single 30 0r 60, ASM Cube.
