Can anybody possibly offer me some guidance here please?

I sold 3 Antminer S1s on eBay, and when they left here they were working perfectly.  The 3 units are stacked, one on top of the other.

Photo of the units: http://www.cryptocointips.com/s1s.JPG

The person who received the units is telling me that one of the boards on the middle unit is not powering up.  Supposedly the top unit works fine, and the bottom unit works fine.  But only 1/2 of the middle unit is working.

This is pretty obviously a power problem, but I don't have a unit here to even look at to see if I can suggest something.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have him hook up the one that's not working by itself to rule out the power as the cause.

This is part of what I suggested he try, as well as a couple other things.  Later he said he got it figured out, but he did not say what it was that got it working.

Thanks!

Swap the power supplies around, I have some that throw a strop but only in certain psu/board combinations.
Spent a few hours swapping psu around to find the best mix.
Some S1 boards draw a lot more power than others, for the same hashing rate.

Actually, I think that did it. Thanks. I suggested the buyer try this, and a couple hours later he told me that he got it figured out.  Not sure if he even tried this, but I did suggest it, and it is now working.

Thank you very much for the suggestion.

We planned to open sales for AntMiner S3 today. But we have to say sorry here, as we still need one week time to make a promise, which is 100% sure to be fulfilled.
Thanks for your support and waiting, and we will make one new product that is stable, reliable and high ROI to the Bitcoin community.

This is today?

Yes, that would be today. Let's see if it was really 100% sure.

Pressure from neptunes?

The neptunes can not compete against the S3.

Most  likely the S3 will be a much superior product that may ROI.
Here I will provide a basic comparison:

S3:
Good:
1. May ROI.
2. More reliable, uses 4 pci-e connectors to supply 400 Watts of power, since each PCI connector will be using 100 watts, and they are rated for 150W, it is very safe and reliable.
3. Based on S1 design which has proven to be very reliable.
4. Very important, sells from stock, makes it easy to calculate possible ROI.
5. Enclosed case, with 2 fans on each end for improved cooling.
6. even though chips are 28 nm tech, they are not overly overclock and therefore yield 0.8 W per GHahs/s, that leaves room for overclocking.
5. 500 Ghash/s
6. coupons?

Bad:
1. if priced to high may not ROI.

Neptune:
Good:
1. 0.7 Watt per Ghash/s.
can not think of anything, other than being 20 nm tech, but highly overclocked already.
Bad:
1. It will not ROI by far, it is highly overpriced.
2. the pci-e connector is being highly stressed, pushing 400w on a connector that was designed for 150W is not only a fire hazard, it guarantees that in a short time the connector will burn especially if ambient temperature is high.
3. poor case design, each neptune is actualy a box which is 1/5 of a neptune, and the controller  board has no case.
4. no room for overclocking, the pci-e is already stressed, in fact underclocking may be needed in order to prevent the cables from burning, in which case the speed whould equial the speed of an S3, but the S3 having a much lower cost, selling from stock, and more reliable.
5. already on the knc forum it can be seen they suffer from the dead core problem, jupiters had this problem, but on the neptune it seems to be more severe, decreasing the effective hash rate.
6. many power supplies do not work with neptune.
7. pre order only, does not sell from stock, guaranteed not to ROI.
8. on Batch 0,1,2 refund are taking forever, and seemed to have stopped.
9 . batch 3 no refunds.
10. miner protection is false.
11. hash while you wait is an scam, after refunds had stopped it was anounce that it could cost a neptune.

If I had to choose between S3 or a neptune, the choice is obvious, the S3 is the way to go.
Conclusion the neptune will have no influence on S3 purchases.

For the record no retail btc ASIC machine even comes close to ROI.

1TH .7 watts/GH system would need to be priced under $1000 usd.  Assuming Btc price $600, Electricity .16,  Difficulty jumps @ 18%

Spondoolies and t1 dragon

They are no match for the S3, the S3 will sell from stock which is a huge advantage it lets you calculate your ROI in real time, and shipping is only 48 hours.

Try calculating your ROI 4 month in advance and you will understand why spoondoolies and t1 dragon do not stand a chance against S3.

Unless of course if they change their business model to sell from stock, which I doubt, so at present neither spoondoolies nor t1 dragon can compete against S3.

I've bought dragons from stock for the last 3 months..Huh

You should have shipped them back in the original boxes they came in.  The foam is pretty good.
