Maybe we should either just plan for April-May time period, or wait for the crash and celebrate once it reaches $1,000 again or proves that the new low is still above $1,000, or just cancel it completely and start planning the $10k party.
Does everyone pretty much assume that there won't be a correction coming any time soon?

Might be an issue if its too soon... Still in college here, class... Best time would be summer, even if its delayed a while, more people can make it.

Is there a tentative date for this event?
January, if Bitcoin doesnt crash within 5 days.My opinion is not really important because I don't have enough BTC to celebrate $1000 yet. When we hit $10,000 or $100,000 perhaps, but wouldn't it be a good idea to have the party around the 1st? Many people are on holiday around that time anyways and it might be convenient. It could be a great New Years Eve/BTC reaches $1000 event.

I would rather wait a few weeks more after the trigger than originally planned and have a really great party

There doesn't need to be a crazy rush. The time can be well used. I'd still like to help out and ensure there is a charity element and so on; the idea of rich mostly male geeks having an expensive party and showing off their money is not endearing. Bitcoin Friday has shown what can be done that's positive in one way.
I suggested to the team that we set up a Bitcoin charity day for the same day as the party, and try to get supported by the Bitcoin ecosystem in various ways. I'm sure it'll be worth my time to try and do it if people are supportive.
we welcome this. what about getting a initiative/team started that does take care of charity connected to the party?
if you wish you could go ahead. as soon as something is worked out we add it to the website and op.
