jakiman is back!

hey jakiman thanks for the update

maybe stupid question
i can use a chain backup from a newly re-synched 2.1.7 version for masternodes?

Yes, I'm pretty sure you can. This version basically weeds out corrupt blockchains better. Wink
BTW, I"ve updated my guide so that you can just try updating only the binary files first.

New v2.1.7 Wallet Update

Official NON-MANDATORY (but highly recommended) v2.1.7 wallet update has been released.
Includes critical fixes to address wallet instability reported by users using prior versions.

NOTE: Due to some critical changes, it may attempt to re-index your current blockchain when you first launch the new wallet with your existing blockchain.
If this fails, this means that your existing chain may be no good and you will need to resync from scratch to ensure you get a good copy of the blockchain.

Changelog
- Stability Fixes
- Fix Re-Index
- UI Transaction Sorting Update
- Multisend Fix
- Checkpoint added
- Update Translations

How to Update
0. As always, backup the existing wallet to a safe location if you haven't done so already.
(File -> Backup wallet or ./pivx-cli backupwallet)

1. Download the appropriate wallet binary for your OS from link below.
 https://github.com/PIVX-Project/PIVX/releases/tag/v2.1.7

2. Overwrite the existing executable files with the newly downloaded wallet binaries.
(this can vary greatly depending on your current OS, use of non-default folders etc)
(if you require assistance in this area, please ask in #support channel in PIVX Slack)

3. Re-start the wallet. If prompted to re-index, then let it re-index. (or may do it automatically)

If #3 is successful and your wallet launches fine, you are done!
If #3 fails to re-index your blockchain or wallet fails to load, follow next steps:

4. Close your current wallet. (File -> Exit or ./pivx-cli stop)

5. From your data folder, delete the "blocks" and "chaninstate" folders. (Only those 2)
(feel free to rename them as a temporary backup if you want but they aren't critical)
(default folder locations for each operating systen are listed below this guide)

6. Re-start the wallet. Done! It will now take a while to resync back from the network.

Default Config / Data Folder Location
Windows:
Go to Start > Run
%APPDATA%\PIVX

OSX:
/Users//Library/Application\ Support/PIVX

Linux:
~/.pivx/

3 days uptime for my MN and still 0 first reward ...
is it normal ?!
we already had to wait for 48hrs+ with ~1000 nodes and if i'm right the more nodes the longer you have to wait for first payout

maybe someone can confirm this cuz my nodes are up for a looooooooooooong time now.

Yeah, I just had to restart one of mine and it took more than 3 days to start getting payouts again. As long as you have everything set up correctly and the MN has been consistently showing up as 'ENABLED' in your wallet, just be patient.

for example    if i have 12k pivx       10k give me some rewards for MN setup  and only 2k ll stake mining with unlocked wallet ?!

btw how many connections do u have ?! inbound/outbound  details ..

first question: yes
can't answer second question (no access on my pc with controller wallet atm)

Regarding PIVX being on Poloneix. Which many are waiting for so that we gain more support and maybe boost in price. It is also amazing we are in 12-15 MArket CAP without poloniex, which show the coin is solid.
But If they are gonna add PIVX on poloniex, will moderators of PIVX know before it happens? I mean whats the process? Does Polonex contact you or you contact them? or it just get added suddenly without any notification to anyone?

Polo usually does not announce the coins they are adding to any dev team. They only usually announce after the coin has been added. ZEC was one of the few exceptions to that rule. Anyone can apply for a coin to be added to Polo even if you are not directly associated with the coin. Poloniex will add PIVX if and when they see fit too. I rather see PIVX added to Shapeshift first but I think all of Shapeshift's coins are on Polo so that may not happen until PIVX gets on Polo.

Do you know how often polo adds new coins? I hope pivx gets accepted soon.  Smiley

What do it means when I am staking and the coin are "generated but not accepted"?

Someone else who understands will have to give you a technical explanation, but it literally means the stake wasn't accepted by the network--you don't get to keep those coins. I don't really understand why it happens, but it's occasionally happened with every PoS coin I've played with so it seems to be 'a PoS thing'. I have always found that my total staking rate stays right where it's supposed to be, though, so you aren't losing coins relative to what you should have. As far as I'm aware, there's nothing you can do to avoid this happening sometimes.

Basically, when 2 or more wallets submit for the block hash, only one can actually get the block reward and others get orphans.
So someone beat you to it that's all. You can get rid of them by going to Tools > Repair Wallet > Recover Transactions 1.

I am now searching for POS coins and this looks intresting.
With 52 million coins in circulation it should dump couple more times before it will cross 1 $. Am I thinking right or not?

In the finance world, that's referred to as the Gambler's/Monte Carlo Fallacy.  It's nearly impossible to tell in rational/far more efficient markets... in the crypto world, trying to game dips and time markets is additionally foolish.

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/g/gamblersfallacy.asp

this and i also don't understand the logic of Super Trade's post. at least this logic is illogical to me  Grin (no offense @ Super Trade)

btw: from 52mio over 21 mio are locked for masternodes atm

btw2. i guess 2104 mn's is a new ath?!

have nice weekend all Cool

Thanks,

My logic is that I try to understand the next lowest trade price to come. As people tend to trade for profit gains, price never stay frozen long time periods. That is natural capital movement in market.

I am new to alternatives of bitcoin and this masternode stuff looks quite complicated Cheesy but cool

the altcoin markets can be really strange Smiley

i second EleanorZ and i guess you can be happy if you can buy in @ around 70 cents. but yeah make your own opinion, you never know ....

just some things you maybe want to consider:
don't speculate on fast money. think about market cap. check the roadmaps, things to come and stuff and set your goal a project can reach in your opinion for market cap.

example:
one of the pivx key function the ZEROCOIN PROTOCOL is not even released.
if you think pivx will reach ~2-5$ with ZP released it dosen't matter that much if you buy at 60 cents, 70, 80 Cents or whatever .... if you think pivx will not reach more than 1$ with ZP you maybe don't want to invest at all.

the above is only a example and no advice in any way!

investing for short term and some quick money is very risky for almost all altcoin, and in the end you maybe only loose money.

however thats the way i make decisions about investments. i don't think about short term dumps and stuff to much. it worked out not to bad so far Cool

have a great day all
Great and honest advice!
