How do you make staking active? Is there a setting for this?

On linux, at least, you have to add the following to the pivx.conf file: staking=1

But my computer crashes everyday (2 in a row) when staking. Then wallet gets corrupted and need to download the blockchain again. Are there any plans to solve this? I heard many people have this problem.

not needed.

just unlock your wallet for "anon and staking only" (settings menu) if your wallet is encrypted.

after sync the first time you need to restart the wallet and you have to wait a bit until staking starts

Is it true about PIVX going to use the TOR network to send transactions and blockchain functions?

Masternodes can use Tor right now. They also plan on implementing i2p which IMO is much better, for the same reasons XMR is working on their c++ i2p fork Kovri

Update

Proposal to get PIVX added to poswallet.com has passed with community donations to get us added there asap!

Its comes with online wallet with staking, faucet, block explorer, and exchange listing. (On Android soon)
For security they have 2 FA, hot/cold storage, coin servers are only accessible by 1 IP, ddos protection.
Would be a nice service for those who prefer such convenience. I'll post an update when it goes live. Wink

Awesome news, jaki

I'm looking for some advice on storing my PIVX.

At the moment they are on the Bittrex exchange but I am considering downloading the PIVX Windows wallet and transferring them there. Which is safer from a hacking/loss of coins point of view ? Bittrex has Google 2FA whereas I don't think the wallet has that level of security, so which one is better ?

Any feedback/experiences from anyone regarding safely storing PIVX coins is welcome.

If you are looking for safety, consider using a paper wallet and holding your coins in cold storage. You can generate a paper wallet using the online wallet tool, or by using the BIP38 tool in the wallet. I recommend using the in wallet tool.

Thanks, is there a video tutorial on how to use all of the features of the PIVX wallet, for a relative newbie ?

just quick message from me Today , no one is selling from the top will be > 48 hours, you can then invest close to blind, seriously

there is a big possibility this is a 100 mil coin potential

This coin can go much higher once it is added to Poloniex.

So you are staking from less than 100 coins every week?

No, a larger number than that, sorry...got a few MNs. I haven't paid close attention to the staking frequency with really small numbers of coins. Sorry not to have a better answer for you. I'm sure the gang over in Slack would be able to give you technical details.

I think any exchange is risky when you are holding big amount of coins. You can encrypt your wallet with strong passphrase so even if somebody steals your wallet.dat he can't use it. And don't forget when you are holding coins in running wallet you can launch staking and get free coins.

Sounds like a good idea. Wink Another lane of exposure and easy way for people to enter the PIVX world if they are squeamish on adding another wallet to their hard drive.

jakiman is back!
Does 10k automatically make you a master node?

No. It only gets locked as a masternode if you have have that 10k's txid added into the masternode.conf etc.
So it doesn't become a masternode automatically.
