Normally, KYC procedures are only intended for an ICO but with regards to exchanges, some requires KYC and some don't. But I think KYC will always be required on every exchanges as regulations are now becoming strict.

KYC is actually a form of prevention, future days regarding crypto are hard to predict, many just try to avoid these future problems. Repu can follow this example of some Icos if he wants to cover himself

No there is no official announcement for a demo so far.

I think I saw an announcement earlier from developers that the demo version will be released in the 3rd quarter.
