Thats right, The only diff with cluster vs solo is you work with others to make the block.

Because of the way it is done if you have a small cpu with low hash you still have a good chance of getting a block in the cluster but if you was just solo mining on the wallet you would not have the same chances to get a block.

Some days are better than others. EG... over the last 6 hours I my self have only got 2 blocks and thats with alot of hash on the cluster. I know my friend who has about 200hs has got more blocks than me today. Its just a case of leave it on and you will earn better over time Cheesy

Better on average? Did someone have make calculation on average POOL VS CLUSTER?

I've mined 2 days on CLUSTER. And got 0.
On POOL I'm getting about 50-60 ROI per day.

Hello Raster

I was mining from pool and wanted to try out the cluster mining but its not working I think. I have paste this in my .bat file -> hodlminer.exe -a hodl --url=http://roi.hopto.org:23110 -u mine -p miner -t 4 --coinbase-addr=RPbVMGKcipUtjdWNMwRhQEJUvyAsCmwQT3 -P -q

but it showing these weird things over and over -

* Rebuilt URL to: http://roi.hopto.org:23110/

Try without -P -q flags, just hodlminer.exe -a hodl --url=http://roi.hopto.org:23110 -u mine -p miner -t 4 --coinbase-addr=

There is a readme file where all flags are explained.

Just hit my first block!

May it be the first of many  Grin

Don't forget that once it's confirmed, you can deposit it for greater longer term rewards.

Trying the cluster mining right now.... can my 4 host mine on the same wallet address?

Also on average how Cluster beat Pool? I still have hard time understand it.

Thank!

Cluster mining is almost the same as solo mining in that if you find a block, you get the full 120 ROI reward.

Pool mining splits the reward amongst all the miners in the pool based on the number of shares they submitted per block.

So basically it is about 120 ROI vs a steadier income of lesser ROI.

Yes, all miners can mine to one wallet address.
But don't use market wallet address. I have mined for 4 days and got nothing. Then I switched to wallet address and with the same hashrate I got block after just 6 hours.

Thank you for the info!

At the moment, this PC is connected to our main TV and is running 24/7 with 2 x 1080 Ti's which is mining VTC. Since CPU mining currently is so bad, I figured I could try something different.

I never solo mined before so I am somewhat confused. So if I use the app, is it the case where it takes long time (days? months?) to find something and I get rewarded with many coins in one shot instead of stream of small fractions of coins from pools?

I don't mind if it takes long time to see results as this isn't going to be paying for my groceries...  Grin

EDIT: Oh 1-4 blocks a day! Which method do you use?

I use the cluster. That way I can have the wallet off on the laptop so not to be using cpu power with that. I do have a big rig with 80 threads mining it too. That pulls from 4-10 blocks a day.

When you hit a block on the cluster it is just like when you hit a block on the wallet and will show just like when on the wallet as solo mined and will take 360 blocks to confirm.

At this point in time the network is half and half with half solo mining there wallets and the cluster node and half on the pool.

I should say I made the cluster node and I do mine it. But you should mine what you feel is best for your needs. I would give it a go mining the wallet (you said you did this.) then I would give it a go mining the cluster or the pool then mine the other. to see what gives the best amount to you. But remember you realy have to leave it on with the cluster and solo in order to get blocks. The pool you can mine and get a slow stream of coins. And should keep getting coins for around a day after you finish mining it.

Read over the last few pages of the thread and you will see the cluster node is becomeing more favored over the pool.

Regards,

Raster.

A newbie here...

I've installed the Windows client app and let it run for a good half a day on my Rizen 1700 machine. I know it's running since it is grabbing close to 99% of all CPU power and the machine is rather sluggish.

But I'm seeing 0 in balance nor pending. Am I doing something wrong or does this get updated less often?

Thank you.

Hello Yhbae,

Mining solo can be hard. Don't go and think that because you have a Rizen you can earn big... That is not to say you can't. I dont use AMD for CPU mining my self. So I cant comment. But each CPU will give you very big diffs when it comes to mining a CPU coin. Each CPU can favor one algo over another.

However there is things you can do to improve your chances of getting coins.

1st is solo mining your own wallet by pointing a stand alown miner to it. This is better than using the built in wallet miner.
2nd is Solo mining on the cluster. You can find more info here http://roicluster.miner-pools.com/ along with the miners to mine the cluster. There is no fee and you will get 120 coins for the block you find.
3rd is pool mining the coin. You can pool mine here http://coinspool.cu.cc/info_roicoin and you can use the apps on minerpools.com link above to mine the pool but you will need to change the config files.

At this point in time mining the cluster is the best way to make coins. But no matter what you do you will have to wait 360 blocks untill you get the coins.

Make shore to take care to test each miner to get the most out of your CPU. As I said each miner likes other CPUs more. So take care to test them all and stick with the one that gives you the most hash per sec Cheesy

Good luck and happy mining.

Raster.

EDIT:

I should add that when mining this coin it is not like mining others. It is more like mining burst coin. Your rig will fill your Ram with 1gb of data and your CPU will look over that ram time and time again for a hash to start to build a block on.
Every CPU has a good chance to find that hash. The 1GB aes search algo (HODL) Is very good for all CPUs. I have my crapy i5 laptop mining it and that can find from 1-4 blocks a day. Cheesy

Just registered to say thanks to TheRaster, cluster mining is awesome, today is new record - 720 coins in 24h on an old i7-5930k... So far it was three times as profitable as pool mining (getting 360-480 coins on average a day, opposed to 150-160 in a pool).

You are more than welcome I am glad we have helped you and others.

Also thanks for letting me know my site has gone down. Bloody godaddy going to get a kick in the nutts. Im sick of doing this now. (3rd time this week).

alot of sites seem to be having troubles, i blame cryptokitties, they broke the internet Cheesy
i been watching this cluster pool, great idea man, i just been soloing with a i-7 6700, some days are better than others
Might have to come check you guys out Smiley Thanks for doing this, p2pools are the shit

The problem is godaddy called me last week in the hopes of rinsing more money out of me. It did not go down with them so good when I told them. No dont need it. No no no and I will call you when I need something more.

I think it comes down to the side they seen bit coin. And figgered they could make more cash. I just said look your there to hold a website nothing more. I dont need your VPS and so on. Lol.

I cant say what mining on p2pools is like as I have not used them. But from my stand point I like to make mining easy. When I came in to mining it was stupid hard to understand what was going on and it also seems alot of mining, pools and so on seems to be controlled by a few peeps. And the lil guys are the ones working hard to make any coins.
This is why I came up with the cluster node. No fee's and all the block. No matter how big your rig you can make a good amount of coins on the cluster.
This is another reason I will not give out code for the cluster node. There is no reason to have more than one cluster node on any coin. With cluster node code they could charge miners to mine and that is not what we want. We want the coin to do well. We want the miners to do well.
I like you have a few coins that I would like to see worth some cash in years to come. So I help out on a good coin. This is the 1st cluster I have done. I can do it to other coins but its only realy coins like this that need it.

I thank all who have mined the cluster node for posting that they are making coin from it.

Remember I make nothing from this other than the warm feeling I get from knowing I am helping others to gain coins and kicking the big guy in the nutts Cheesy
