How about "Sovereign Coin"

Very interesting idea, especially since once it was already a real coin.

But probably for some other crypto. Maybe those guys who want to live on an abandoned oil rig?

"Sovereign Coin For A Sovereign State." Smiley

For us, it doesn't convey the main goal of being simple.

Is it safe to read the above as IPO will not be closed before April 19, 2014 23:59 PST?    Wink

Don't worry, it will probably stay open for some time even after 20th, it's just that the probability of closing will start to rise from 0% with every passing day Smiley

You are 100% safe till April 20, 23:59:59 UTC.

How many people are working on the development os Simcoin? What is their skillset?

Currently it's only me because I'm still finalizing the design. I believe it to be much more important than code.

I don't want to take an easy way out, as BCNext did, and shift the burden to code maintainers and end users.

I announced Simcoin about a month earlier so more people had a chance to participate in the IPO.

So for the next 3-4 weeks things will be rather slow, since right now my daily routine is mostly sitting on my ass, thinking Smiley

Hi NxtChg, I´m glad you´re back. I´m in with a few bitcoins Smiley

Cool Smiley

By the way, it's 92 investors with 53.645613 BTC already. I wonder where we are on the scale of successful crypto IPO's...

Is there an infographic somewhere about cryptocoin IPO's? Anybody keeping track?

I wouldn´t invest too much time in this as there were too many ipos where they run off with the money, so people burned themselfes way too often. (see edgecoin as the most recent scam ipo)

Looks like blockchain.info is under attack or having technical difficulties.

So if you get "Failed to generate Bitcoin address!" - don't panic, come back later.

I tried to think of an alternate name as NxtChg suggested...  but it's MUCH HARDER than I thought...    Embarrassed

To be honest...  Simcoin by itself doesn't sit to well with me either...  but along with the A Simple Coin it looks great.

Same here Smiley Can't think of a better name and Simcoin rolls off your tongue nicely.

Yes, initially it might confuse people somewhat about "sim" being similar to Sims, SimCity and simulators, but human language is great - we redefine things and then don't even notice their origins anymore!

Google is a pretty awkward name, but we don't see it that way anymore. Hotdog? Do you think about Alpha and Beta every time you use the word "alphabet"? Do you say to yourself: "good thing I have this Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus", when you go scuba diving? Smiley

I also don't worry about other coins with the same name, the strongest will win and silly copycats will die out quickly.

There is already a currency called "simcoin"
http://www.simcoin.org/

Therefore, the proposed change of name

I hate it when there are 2 coins with the same name.

Remember Pandacoin? All three of them?
I bet that there will be somebody with a lot of free time that will rush to launch another simplecoin just for fun.

crypto code (90%)
network code (50%)
where is the code?

Be patient Smiley.
When the IPO is finished you're going to see one hell of a code.
I'm betting on the first released nxtcode , the one with the bugs.
