I'm pleased to announce that Halofire has agreed to run the SmartCoin Donation Fund. Halofire has experience managing public funds for FLT and OC, so this is a welcome development.

That's right, folks. I'm here to provide a financial service for SMC, to collect and direct donations, and to represent the funds when called upon. A small % will be taken to go towards compensation for providing the service, as was discussed with psionin. I'm not here to get rich off of your donations, but I will be working for SMC and the community. 10% of Psionin's 20k will be allocated to compensation, then all subsequent donations will have a lower fee of 5%.
You can be rest assured the donation wallet.dat is it's own wallet.dat, triple saved on different sticks, and is safe and encrypted on the computer that is currently holding those funds. After a method of decision to be determined, I will direct them appropriately and transparently. If anyone has an idea for a way to spend the funds, please start a discussion here. I have a SMC address from Psionin in case of emergency. Please feel free to check the donation address against the explorer at anytime. I want to give a report in case some of you have seen other posts of mine or know info regarding a failed hard drive of mine. The SMC funds are safe, screenshot can be provided if need be, but I did have a hard drive crash. This is exactly why I saved the wallet's on 3 drives/sticks. I will not be sending the bad drive out to get the data back for added security measures. I know I could move the coins, but people in "clean room" lab coats are smarter than me, rather take zero chances.
I am very surprised that minimal community members have contributed to the donation fund. This fund is made to continue development, to spend where seen fit. For the remainder of the year for the holiday season, to aid in SMC growth, I will reduce the fee to 2.5%. Cheers! Happy Holidays!

Even if we don't win next tuesday, it's still good advertising to have smartcoin in the top voters.
smartcoin is in 4th place currently, but is falling behind the two top coins in the voting list,
and some coins beneath might try to pass smartcoin.
Please be warned that Askcoin is pretty much empty. Oh, the exchange works, but all major traffic it shows is fake.Anyone who wants to,

The operator apparently was not happy that all coins were showing a volume of less than 0.1 BTC per day,
so the exchange is constantly injecting paired bid/sell offers into a few major coins (it started with only JPC,
but it now about 6 coins that show the fake traffic), so this is inflating the volume to hundreds of BTC while
there are less than 1 BTC of coins changing hands of traders....
I have reported the weird behavior on JPC to the exchange owner a couple times
and you can easily stop the fake traffic by placing a buy and sell bid 1 Sat apart, then the volume goes to zero
(because the exchange cannot inject bid/sell pairs) until someone manually removes (buys) one of your offers
and then the fake traffic restarts.
So - be warned (I have seen unwise people dump 1 BTC into buying votes and the result was... no traffic at all.
Pass this warning on when you see people suggest using Askcoin.
We need to weed out the fake and bad, in order to avoid people spending time and money getting lured into a scam.
I bet that the investors in Smartcoin are too smart to fall for this, but you need to know to see the more elaborate scams.

There's a fairly new exchange cryptex.biz which I believe SMC may be able to get onto if some coin were donated to their daily give away. Not sure how much they'd expect but it might be worth asking.
