SMC BTC price is gong down so hard
Price should be 0.00006500 comparing with other coins with similar features.
Why market is not moving?
 Huh

99% of the alts right now are tanking hard.  This happened last November too as people pull money out to pay mining bills or to invest in BTC as they feel it's about to take off.

Summer doesn't help as many people need the extra cash for vacations.

Should be a really good sho-ooo-oo-ooo (Ed Simian)
Hi,

I have a problem.

Running on XP.

Downloaded new 0.9 wallet from http://www.smartcoin.me/.

Attempted to run it and got,

"Not a valid win32 application" error.

??

Downloaded the wallet again, changed files save as name, same thing happened.

??

Looks like applications built with the Visual Studio 2012 toolset cannot be run on Windows XP. I have resolved this issue and added an XP wallet: https://github.com/psionin/smartcoin/releases/download/0.9/smartcoin-0.9-xp.zip

Thanks for bringing this up!

Thanks for that, it works well, synced again and received some coin.

Alright, I'm glad we have made the switch to X11 but we got some big problems.

First of all I want to say that we have a skilled dev and I'm happy and thankful for that but I have the feeling everyone sits and wait for a miracle that some kind of Wolong pops up and pumps this coin which will not happen. This coin is completely out of control. A skilled dev is not everything, someone needs to take care of the website, someone needs to take care of social media etc.. etc..
Psionin can't do these things alone but you have control over the website etc. Everyone knows this coin has non development related problems but we just post shit here and let things slide. I am ready to help with everything in my power.

So my request is this:

We all (Psionin and everyone that has interest in contributing to this coin) meet somewhere, doesn't matter where, IRC Skype or one of the other million possibilites and create an organized team to determe who does what. Things can't be done the way we've done it until now. So Psionin, I beg you to organize some kind of online meeting where we can discuss this. It would be a shame to waste the potential and the work you have put into this coin.

We are lucky to have psionin as our dev.  Yet I still am not seeing the love for smartcoin that it deserves.

Hey guys, it looks like we have successfully went through a third SMC fork! Thanks to everyone who has been with SmartCoin over its 5 month history. There are still some nodes that need to update, and if anyone has ideas on how to encourage that to happen, please share. I noted that the version numbers were reset to a lower value for consistency, and hopefully there isn't much confusion in regards to /Satoshi:0.9.0/ being the most current, while there are still some prior /Gopher:1.3.2/ versions on the network.

The updates should be well worth the effort. Over the past few months, there have been significant underlying structural changes within the software, making it easier to work with and to keep updated in line with new bitcoin innovations. I also noticed that the client is overall more stable and takes less time to open and close. A very important change to the coin subsidy has been made in reducing large SMC creation inflows into a market without adequate demand, and thanks to all who have made suggestions regarding that. Meanwhile, the new X11 mining algorithm should bring more attention to this coin by making it attractive to mine because of the reduced heat and ASIC resistance.

It's curious how things happen sometimes -- I lost electrical power on the morning right before the fork, and spent several days over a cafe WiFi setting up the development environment and building dependencies and tools on my laptop in order to debug the sync issue and build another wallet. On the other hand, the main SMC pool had not been updated, but stonedpuppy came out of nowhere with an SMC X11 pool, making it possible to transition to the new mining algorithm without major issues.

As for the future, there currently isn't anything planned on my end at this time, and it is likely that I would be mostly unavailable in the near term, as there are other non-crypto responsibilities to attend to. However, it is entirely possible to be able to continue to work on the SMC software eventually.

As for features, anon could be added, but it is not important at this stage. There is also an integral area that is parallel to the client software, which is merchant integration, and it may be worthwhile to think about how it can be explored and what can be done to put SMC into practical use.

Overall, this is a complete product and it is quite usable in its current state. There are reasons as to why SmartCoin is a good crypto to choose:

- A vast majority of coins out there are sold at the initial launch and abandoned afterwards -- having SmartCoin still around after 5 months is very significant. There was an article somewhere claiming that more than 80% of alt coins don't even make it past the first month.
- SmartCoin probably has one of the fairest distributions out there! The >0.8% premine was not sold at the initial launch, and some of it even got passed down to later developers after the original team left. While many coins now have a 100% mining period of a week, and many others still have a heavily skewed initial subsidy, the SmartCoin block rewards were a uniform 64 coins for the first two whole months, and 32 for three months after that!
- SmartCoin is very, very cheap when considering the continuous work on it and organic growth underlying it in the recent months. The quality of the software and the responsiveness to requests and issues is likely to have been much higher than the average.

That's all for now, thanks for reading!

Is their anything we can do to step up the marketing efforts ?

https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/158 shows a persistent downtrend over the past 30days
psionin doesn't want to give over some control like twitter etc.. he thinks the technical part of a coin is everything. he can't do everything.

Wow, where did you get that from? I have been hoping that someone would take the initiative to represent SmartCoin in social media. I've tried to get access to the original Twitter account "smartcoin" at the beginning, but there hasn't been a response for that. It's fine to create accounts with other names, as long as they fulfill the purpose. Invisible Hands has an account that has been used occasionally, and I linked to its feed from the website. I made an account, but it's not just about tweeting, it's also about developing the connections. And for social media to be effective, there should be multiple people impacting multiple networks, in order for the message to have a significant reach. I'm willing to discuss promotion strategies and answer questions, but I can't really help with the effort since that isn't my job or specialty (of course it is important, though). Also, in case you didn't notice, Bittrex's reply was that they add coins "based on community demand", which implies multiple people would need to be active in communicating on behalf of SmartCoin.
