Hey, I am also an investor in SMC, in addition to which I've also done work on the client and have continued to host the site and block explorer.

I'm currently in the process of hiring a full time programmer or two to work on SMC, so it is reasonable to expect further advancement of the project.

Which version are you using? If 0.11, then you could try the 0.9 one - https://github.com/psionin/smartcoin-legacy

Generally, if there is a good connection to the network, it takes a short time to sync, like 2 hours or so.

On my side I have made a lot of progress. The hardware wallet is coming, which is likely to be branded as a "SmartCoin hardware wallet", and several engineers and other specialists are now part of the team. There are also other projects besides the hardware wallet.

In regards to SmartCoin the SMC token, I do not mind spending some resources working on it, and developments have been leading up to having a more serious opportunity to do so.

Any more news on this. Really want to help get this moving!

SmartCoin could have been a great coin in my view, if only there had been more active development. I don't fully understand why the lead dev should want to park SmartCoin to go and focus on dogecoin.

the problem is one here, you can believe how much you want, but this world runs fast, there are projects and currencies with continuous developments, communities and dev active and present, and then without denying it, people want to make money, and smartcoin does not have any of these characteristics, which make me think, why hold or why buy it? More in this fomo time, why i must buy this when there is more active and promising coin that made me make x20-30 of my investment

Do you have your old .dat file or only the actual private key? If you have the .dat file, just forget about importprivkey and simply replace the newly installed wallet.dat with your old one...
