I bought some Stipend and joined the Stipend community awhile ago because I was impressed with their roadmap and ideas. I have done a decent amount of freelancing myself over the years on various platforms, so the freelance platform really intrigues me. And while there have been a few speed bumps along the way towards achieving the roadmap goals, I think the Stipend team has handled everything very professionally.

I'm really excited about this new stage in the Stipend journey, and looking forward to seeing how the prospective partnerships pan out. Way to go Stipend!

We don't actually have an end-date in mind, and have enough passive income from the premine to make the campaign an ongoing thing. Primarily just apply to the form once and we'll make a note of whether you're accepted or not. If we accept your application, we'll check your profile weekly and manage payouts if you fulfill the posting/activity guidelines. No need to report individual posts, we can do so on our end.

     Today, companies of all sizes are rapidly increasing their use of freelance work for a number of reasons. It is often cheaper and easier, and the talent pool much larger. Accordingly, there are a number of intermediaries already operating within the marketplace; however, they are not utilizing blockchain technology—a technology that would benefit prospective employers, freelancers, and intermediaries enormously. We believe that the blockchain is a revolutionary, industry-changing technology, much the same as the Internet before it. Stipend advances the vision and promise of a decentralized platform for freelancers that will: 1) enable anyone to post an offer, 2) allow an individual to apply for an offer without restrictions, and 3) securely and transparently provide  a record of user performance, history, and many other data.

     Perhaps the main flaws inherent to most platforms currently operating in the market are their excessively high fees—some amounting to more than 20% even before any payment processing charges are included. If a freelancer wants to get paid via credit/debit card, the fees are even higher due to anti-fraud inspection and overhead processing expenses levied by credit card companies; PayPal fees also take a substantial cut out of any paycheck and bank transfers. If such fees weren’t bad enough, most methods also incur significant delay—taking up to a week to clear, with faster options costing even more. Beyond payments and fees, there are countless other areas ripe for improvement, including ensuring work is timely and of sufficient quality, payment is made to the right place, any disputes are properly settled, and more. Overall, the entire process is inefficient, costly, and time-consuming, limiting the untapped true supply and demand in this already rapidly growing market.

     Stipend will therefore be an all-in-one platform for all kinds of freelance tasks. Teams will be able to easily and efficiently disburse payments to contributors who have fulfilled the requirements of any task using the currency they prefer.  Project managers using Stipend’s native currency (SPD) will be charged no fees, while transactions using any other supported coin for payment will be charged a small fee. The blockchain also allows for an integrated verification process, a reputation system, and other functionality that can provide crucial validation before any payment is disbursed.

     Stipend is our vision for a next generation freelancing platform that leverages the unique, powerful features of blockchain technology. We wish to create an expansive environment beneficial to both freelancers and employers through low fees, near-instant payments, and a unique reward scheme that explicitly incentivizes the highest performers—all without the exorbitant fees and hidden costs of existing alternatives.
