BTW what do you guys think of Orbitcoin?  The devs are asking me to add it.

I say the more the merrier, especially once the auto-convert function is enabled. There are other coins which have been more profitable though (BitGem, Starcoin...)

By the way, I am unable to cash out LTC.

It's back up for me, but Chrome just wouldn't load the page, I forget the error but if it happens again I'll write it down or something for you.

Is the pool down for others as well? Like, the front end?

Oh and flound, if I were you I'd focus on implementing the auto exchange to bitcoin feature like middlecoin is based around, more profits for everyone!  Smiley

The frontend has been up.. what error are you getting?

Right, but autoconvert to BTC is coming soon, so you'll be able to mark a checkbox next to the coins you want to autoconvert and you won't have to deal with them.

How will the exchange rate(s) be set?  The price of any given trading pair (xxC/BTC) can vary from one exchange to another (even BTC/USD varies from exchange to exchange!).  And how often will it be updated? Will there be a fee for the service?

I think it's a GREAT idea, just wondering about the mechanics.

There won't be an exchange rate, per se.  The coins will be sent to an exhchange and sold at the best offer price.  Once the sale is completed, the BTC (minus fees) will be credited to your account.  There will be a detailed transaction history so you can see what exchange rate(s) you get.

Right, but doesn't autoconvert NVC to BTC still require a minimum of 1 NVC?

Why would it?

The minimum withdraw is there to keep the pool from getting killed by transaction fees.  Convert to BTC will be done in batches so this won't apply.

Don't spread the multiport too thinly is my point.  I'm sure 1000 shitcoiners are going to ask you to add their shitcoin to your multiport in the next year.  You going to add them all?  Just take a democratic vote?  It's getting ridiculous.  I think this altcoin explosion fad will be over in a year.

I have 1800Kilohash...and I regularly end up with like 0.3 Novacoins.  The effect isn't that bad for me.  However, someone with a single GPU might end up with .1 Novacoins, thus, they are going to have to wait even longer for the multiport to choose NVC and get it up to 1.
I can't speak for Flound, but I can give you my .0002 BTC...

Having more coins is good. If the coin can handle the load, and it is the most profitable, then why not mine it? Just because we have 30+ coins, in any given day\week, we aren't going to mine them all, as they go through cycles. And when we have less coins, the chances of those being the best to mine, are slim to none.

Once the auto cash out feature is added, the argument that you don't have enough coins to cash out will go away.

Here's what I think.

If you add 25 new crypto currencies to the mulitport, then we'll have something like 0.5 coins of 25 crypto currencies.

The minimum withdrawal is usually 1 coin

So if you don't have a huge hash rate, you might find yourself with 25 shit coins that you can't withdraw,
and you watch their value depreciate so that the next day, you would have been better off just mining litecoins.

In other words, a line has to be drawn.

Also, suppose the multiport spends 99% of the day mining 24 different shitcoins.  Then 1% of the time it mines novacoins.
Well, now I have 0.05 Novacoins just sitting there, stuck, because it's below the 1 NVC minimum withdrawal.  In the meantime
those novacoins depreciate, so that the pool THOUGHT it was smart mining novacoin for 1% that day but it really wasn't.
So mining all those other coins leaves you with small amounts of high value coins such as litecoins/novacoins that you can't withdraw.

Flound was busy last night.  FTC, MNC, LKY, and CAP are all disabled on the MP and CMC is gone entirely.

CMC will be back once I figure out the problem with block submission in stratum.

CAP has been disabled for a while.  The new client came out this morning, so I'll be compiling it shortly and I'll turn the CAP pool on after that.  I'll re-enable CAP on the MP once it has been stable for a few days.  If it forks again after that, I'll be leaning toward removing it permanently.

I disabled FTC, MNC and LKY last night because those were the last of the coin daemons I needed to move, then I realized I had to recompile them on the new server because the version of libboost was different..  And of course I violated my policy of not doing things before going to sleep on a derpy day to begin with so I forgot to re-enable them.  We didn't miss anything, though.  We nearly missed a mincoin spike this morning, but middlecoin was nice enough to stay on WDC, so we caught it when I re-enabled MNC on the multiport.

Site and pools back up, however the selectable difficulty on pool2 doesn't seem to work.

edit- Nope, I restarted my worker and it's all good, never mind.

Flound, I see that the estimated block time on all currencies are 0 minutes, was this because of the DOS attack?

It's because I rewrote part of the site to exclusively use a cached variable, and didn't update that part..  It's fixed now.

So there was an attack on the pool?

Seems like an attempted DoS on the frontend.
