Now would be the opportune time for the vTorrent dev to present himself with a progress report.

Hahah this is obviously a scammer. Nothing but a few visuals that any media graduate could knock together In a day. The guy took the premine and mined and made some money.....that's it. Amazing he kept the plates spinning to continue to dump this long.

What's up with the volume on Trex?

Is there some private testing going on?

Hmmm, something strange is happening?Huh

Node count has dropped to 3. Usually around 10.

I don't usually get 3 VTR per block every few minutes.  Grin

One of the interesting things about vTorrent is this:

Expandable Consumption.

To a certain point, competition doesn't matter.

If you ask the average torrent users, they'll probably tell you they have more than one torrent app. So they are happy to consume torrent programs from multiple sources - their consumption of torrent software is expandable.

They will also probably tell you that they watch and listen to the same stuff over and over, to a point. So their consumption of torrent files is also expandable.

There are also a lot of torrent users in high bandwidth, low income areas (such as Romania) where providing some income source towards their upstream would be beneficial.

Joystream will be ready soon...

Not a big fan of paid Torrens seeding... In fact commercializing torrents kills the ideology standing behind them. If people are paid for sharing, it becomes not about freedom of information, but just about greed and making money.

If anyone seeds licensed content for free, you might consider him a rebel or fighter for information freedom, but if he takes money for seeding licensed content created by others, he is nothing more than a thief, who sells the stuff he stole...

You sir just made want to sell my 10 cents of vtr..

What you said makes literally no sense at all.

There is a difference between "it makes no sense at all" and "I did not agree" or "I did not understand what you meant".

With all the respect - would be nice for you to understand that difference. Not going to argue on this level.

So vtorrent has kindly let me try out the new wallet (minus torrent features); I've been asked to keep the file private but can share screenshots here.

So yes, it does exist. It is functional, it is pretty slick and barring the blockchain completely syncing (it is taking some time) it looks quite nice. There is a BitTorrent section, but it has been deactivated on this particular copy of the program (vtorrent stated that it would be without torrent functionality as this is still in private testing)

New features:
-multiple windows for trading on bittrex
-2FA via Google Authenticator
-Key management
-HD addresses
-Block explorer

Regarding the lack of any update on torrent functionality this is what vtorrent said on December 31st, 2014:

Since Magnetz scam, I prefer to keep all the details about torrent implement from public until we release our first beta client with torrent implemented.

As to when to expect torrent release, I have no information.

are you still running the test client? any updates on your testing?

Negative. I use Windows as my main OS and don't keep an Apple OS running on any other computer, so to get the test client running I had to install a VM. Since then I can't get the VM to run again.

If I did use OS X natively then I assume it'd be running fine still. I did recently try to boot the same VM recently but it unfortunately didn't work.

While still keeping my pledge to keep the code/copy of this particular release private, I did look through as much of the source code as possible (through notepad/etc) and found several references to torrent related things which I can't comment on further otherwise I would be reneging upon my pledge to the developer by going against what I promised to the developer. Needless to say there were several references to actual torrent related terms/details.

I'm not a 'real' programmer or anything, only an enthusiast, so I can't really make any claims to the validity of the project beyond seeing references to torrents beyond what is shown in the current public client and the fact that I'm not a douchebag and don't go against my word regardless of the project.

I honestly don't know where I stand on this particular project. My personal investment is well over $3-4000 USD (which is worth a bit less now), but the dev doesn't seem inspired by making a quick buck and seems devoted towards providing an actual solution, no matter how long it takes. I honestly don't think this kind of tech is suited towards the bitcoin blockchain and works much better as a sidechain.

As much as you should take what I say with a grain of salt, I could easily sell up all my participation in this project and in turn make the price reduce by a hundred-fold, however I still have faith in the developer and interest in where this project could transition in the long term.

I still have the original file/client as provided by the dev for Mac OS X and I could reinstall said OS when I have enough free time.

What you said makes literally no sense at all. More than a market VTR will promote 1:1 seeding on the many trackers around.

For instance on one site at the moment with 255GB:8049GB. The bandwidth doesn't magically appear to seed that much and many, many people stop seeding older torrents because there is no incentive to do so.

In my opinion it is more an idea of people with shitty bandwidth being able to pay tiny amounts for bandwidth. I doubt someone who is even seeding multiple TB per day would make that much money off it.

lol, " I'm still encouraged, dev is still logging in regularly."

That must be a sign of success  Cheesy

no, sign of life, sign vTorrent dev is still here. Qora dev went missing for many months and didn't  login here ... I was discouraged by that, but he eventually came back and handed Qora over to new guys

If he gets it right, market cap of $15m is easily within reach this year.

It will be used by artists, the ones who produce will sell their stuff, not the thiefs.

Imagine how many micro producers, like hobby DJ's and other small entrepreneurs could sell their stuff there.

Whereas big record companties dont accept them.

vTorrent will be a toolbox for content distribution. Who uses it, and how, is still to be determined. I'm still encouraged, dev is still logging in regularly.
