I'm not so keen on the logo.

Any views? I could get someone to produce some alternatives.

The problem with crypto space is that there are bright ideas, just not the talent to support them. You need to develop a way for verified magnets to be tacked on to each mined block. Already such a system requires a deep understanding of the Blockchain + torrents. Then you need to manage it so that there is less or no duplication. Then you have to avoid blockchain spamming , all the while making it interesting enough to draw in more users and seeders.

Not an easy task, not in the slightest.

+101

Good points.

What many projects lack is a use case: 'we need retailer adoption'. LTC is still trying to find places that will use it. Charlie Lee is a senior figure inside Coinbase, and they won't add Litecoin.

This type of project has a use case. Done right, the use case can be backed by revenue from rights holders.  PoS = proof of seeding. The better your seeding infrastructure, the more you could get from rights holders. I'd buy a few more servers to keep files up and running for my local area if it meant getting paid to do it.

It doesn't help that the dev only post when he feels like.

I just am here to laugh on the fools who still did not sell their coins even when i warned them!!!!!ahahahhahahahahahahayh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this Dev doesn't build it, I will make sure it gets built.

That's the whole point of crypto. The project can be forked by consensus. That's what happened with Monero. I've got an early bag of those too.

Lol!!!!!! I pity your bag holding!!!!!! Such noobish behaviour --- begging everyone to baghold!!!!

Rakesh you have no credabilty due to the amount of trolling you have done, so go and commit suicide.

This is definitely an idea whose time has come. I hope this is genuine and will actually be built.

People download torrents because they are free. Since I don't watch TV and only like one or two TV shows. I download them, watch them and then give a copy to my friends.

If I had to pay for content with coins I would simply not use the system and go back to the old system: Piratebay or KickassTorrents.

The only reason I can see for a torrent coin is to pay the guys that upload and seed. As in seeding is mining. These guys deserve to be paid. They sit in movie theaters risking arrest with cameras and then take the time to edit, sync the audio and put out a release for us.

The rest of us can buy it and speculate on it. I think a system like this can have great success.

"I want it, and I want it now"

From memory it wasn't until about 3-4 months after launch that Darkcoin started really working on its anonymity features. I know, I lived through it. Each DRK is now worth more than LTC. One year on, the full features are nearly finished and there are now around 5 devs and another 10-15 active supporters working on everything from the twitter feed to the darkcointalk forum.

What the dev asked for, which is what the Darkcoin dev asked for as the start of his journey, is some community feedback on what features people think are important to build into a crypto <> torrent wallet - that is the main feature of this project.

From my perspective, I'm looking for a wallet where rights holders can share revenue with seeders and turn crypto torrents into incentivized p2p hosting services and not a p2p enemy.

A way to pay seeders direct, share revenue from sales or ad supported. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc are all free, yet they are worth $billions ----> ad supported content distributors.  VTR, a distributor by nature with commerce baked in.

How else can VTR compete with free to download torrents? It can't compete with free. It can compete by being free for users while getting seeders paid to seed.

Want a road map? Lets get the project pushing $0.25 / VTR and at that point offer out 100 BTC bounties for additional dev support.  Get it to $0.5/VTR another 200 BTC bounties for more dev support.   $1/VTR, 300 BTC for additional dev support.

I bet that Peter Todd will help with coding if a 300 BTC bounty is offered up.

Good ideas start the process. Good ideas with some refinement draw people in. Good refined ideas with community support pull in good developers to help support the core dev.

minute by minute dev updates is what ICO scams do.

@dev hi any news

I am currently working toward improving user friendly side of the client, main idea is to move away from just normal 'wallet' to a client which 'wallet' is just a small part of it. Any ideas from community is always welcome.

Thank you for your support.

Also when are we going to get the new wallet with in wallet trading?

Could you explain what you mean by wallet being a small part of it?  What other plans do you have? Search for torrent function? Maybe a comment section for users to rate the torrent and give some feedback as to weather it's good to download.

Kim Dotcom likes crypto <> torrents

http://cointelegraph.com/news/113343/what-would-kim-dotcoms-meganet-look-like-op-ed

But I think he is on the wrong side of the fence. Yes / No?  Possibly just a different fence.

Linking crypto to torrents introduces payment expectations on the part of hosts / seeders. That I think it is a positive thing that could lead to torrents becoming legal and actually being promoted by movie houses, produces, actors, etc.

I can just see Steven Spielberg with a VTR wallet and posting here some day  Grin

A good idea for a coin does not mean its price will reflect that too.
Even if the dev creates a great coin, it doesn't mean the coin will be worth much.
The idea is worth a lot, but why would any one be willing to buy this coin.
It has no added value for buyers over other coins.
Miners will be happy that you are willing to take this coin of their hands.

Have you never seen what happens to most altcoins,
even if the ideas thrive, the price usually 'bleeds out'.
Unless you have some great marketing tricks up your sleeve.

I assume that the value of this currency will be directly tied to bandwidth that users share or use; I imagine for people who just want to download a single file they would be able to get enough free VTR from faucets and then generate the rest by being a courteous user of the network.

Users who share quality files should be awarded the highest amount.

This still needs more explanation obviously.

I'm hoping the Dev will give us the new wallets today, now that this forum is back up.
