Dear all,

This project is indeed still being actively developed.

Due to nature of BitTorrent sharing, we have been experimenting with the possibility of migrating ZEC's zero-knowledge to VTR core to improve users anonymity and try to do without needing of reseting the current chain.

vTorrent 0.9.1z will be the first version to incorporate the zero-knowledge protocol and if resetting the chain is needed, there could possibly be a fork of vTorrent-Classic running by community keeping the 0.8.x chain.

There are some other plan along with this new chain, which is still being in discussion in our team.

Regards,
vTorrent

You've lost all trust with your investors, why should we believe a word you say?

If you do not believe in the Dev team there is no need to bullying around here.

We should all try to keep this thread as objective as possible and discuss technical issues and the development of the project rather than blaming the Dev. The problem which is tackled with vTorrent is huge. So is the opportunity and the vision. This project could potentially be the first blockchain B2C use case after sending around virtual money.

A project/company cracking that code and having such a use case could easily be worth hundreds of millions. vTorrent would not even need the current crypto craziness to justify such a valuation.

Thanks for the update vTorrent.

Sounds like there is a solid plan for implementing the necessary anonymity features. How about riot? Is this still on the cards?

Please engage with your supporters like this regularly because if you don't we are completely ignorant, ignorance leads to speculation and speculation leads to FUD.

Cheers

Good to know. Video of torrents working would probably keep everyone cool and calm for months and months.

edit

Also, you need to think about perception of trust as the ZEC launch process requires proof that all traces of the set-up keys are destroyed. With some around here already throwing mud, that could make things really difficult.  A video and some other info would help bridge that trust gap.

Hello dev, I have downloaded vtorrent 0.8.1 (8.1.1 isn't available) for linux and have zero active connections to the vtorrent network after an hour, how to I add a node in linux ? I am currently on linux mint 17.1 .

Also, I have an idea for your project I think is worth considering. That is to add a third party store option. Now, how does that work ? Lets say I have a torrent website , all I'd have to do to set up a store is to share a vtorrent address, this address would point to the latest ip address ( or a torrent file) of my web store which would be displayed in a window within the vtorrent client. This would be great to limit censorship, also the store being displayed within the client it would be very very easy to tip a store or pay for a product, moreover it would simplify things for less technical savvy people.

I read some of your posts and seen that you want to create an ecosystem where everything related to vtorrent can be done within the wallet. Please do consider this.

Dev you might as well just give up now after wasting two and a half years of your time, you have missed the boat in the most bullish crypto season in history, you could have been a multii millionaire but its too late now and by the time you even reply on the thread to update investors its likely we will be a few years down the line in a bear market again when no one cares

Good luck my friend

you are retarded.

Allocate 5% or 10% stake to JoyStream.

The Classic chain is a bonus to everyone already in vTorrent, so this would be a good incentive for JoyStream devs or their shareholders.

Yeah I like the idea of allocating some staking. Though, I think there could be a lot of unclaimed coins.

Just so you are aware, when JoyStream goes open source, we'll be forking it and merging it with vTorrent coin holders.

There is a developer that is happy to maintain the new chain.

The new JoyStream fork will not be building new functionality. It will be a "JoyStrem Classic" which will keep up with JoyStream releases and just merge changes as and when they are open sourced.

We'll probably have the same number of coins as vTorrent. Anyone who has VTR's can claim the same number of JoyStream Classic coins.

JoyStream Classic will likely be a PoW coin, but we'll wait and see.

JoyStream themselves are focused on Bitcoin, so we are not competing with them on Bitcoin payments.

If at some point after the first 6 to 12 months, people want to actively develop the JoyStream Classic coin, we'll pick that up as a discussion point in the future.

* We are not forking vTorrent.
* We are not changing anything to do with vTorrent
* We are not competing with vTorrent
* JoyStream Classic is not going to be the final name
* As people who own vTorrent VTR coins will get to redeem the same number of JoyStream Classic coins, we are not competing with vTorrent.
* There is no ICO

JoyStream has said they are going open source, so someone will clone it, might as well be vTorrent holders.

PM if you want to coordinate anything on this idea. We'd like to discuss adding 2FA into JoyStream Classic as a separate side project. Also PM if you have any concerns and would rather we didn't do this.

If anyone else thinks its a bad idea and would rather we didn't do this, please come and have a chat in Slack, where we've been discussing it. Or you can PM me.

Just to confirm, nothing - repeat - nothing will happen to vTorrent and no-one is taking over vTorrent.

If people don't want to claim free JoyStream Classic coins, we'll give them to the JoyStream Classic maintainer and to the vTorrent devs.

So now everyone in this thread can wait for vTorrent to release torrents and JoyStream to release torrents.

I'm not doing anything beyond advising as Helium is my priority. But as it will be a simple fork, there is not much to do.

Awesome, a brand new wallet from vtorrent dev and a backup stake in another project. Good result!

It's actually genius considering there's no way to buy into Joystream.

Thanks for the information

This is the proper way to show your displeasure with a project, and in the spirit of FOSS. Competition is a good motivator. I will follow it with interest.

Where can we find more information about joystream?  I did a search and the last thread was from 2015. Is there a slack for vtr and joy stream?

A few months ago I would of said this would never go back to 600 sat, but now it's looking quite likely.
