Could be a potential fork

to resolve

#5.  Launch wallet with the correct parameters to sync to masternode
x11coin-qt.exe -addnode=162.243.109.24 -connect=162.243.109.24

This is download block chain from masternode and sync

where do you put these params?

on Windows PC's you can right click on the X11coin icon and select "Properties" from the list. Then in the "Target" box just add -addnode=162.243.109.24 -connect=162.243.109.24 after x11coin-qt.exe, then click apply. Then just click on the icon to start the wallet and the parameter will automatically load

Connected with this:

-addnode=162.243.109.24 -connect=162.243.109.24

It was syncing then it suddenly stopped at block 17670 with only 2 active connections. It doesn't seem to be catching up anymore at all.

Also how do I check if I'm on the forked block?

I have the latest version: v0.9.1.4x11-coin-1.0

EDIT: Woot, it's now catching up to new blocks, looks like it just needed to take some time to get going.

By the way I'm running the build on ubuntu, if anyone needs any help building either x11coin-qt or x11coind on the latest version, don't hesitate to ask.

Can an auto update feature be added to the wallet somehow ?
this would be the optimum solution.  And should be easy enough to script.  Though it would raise some security concerns.

notification i think is possible but upgrade via wallet not possible

Check the block # in your client, if it is different than http://cryptexplorer.com/chain/X11Coin then you are on the forked chain -- you need resync your wallet from the masternode

-addnode=162.243.109.24 -connect=162.243.109.24

this will force your wallet the correct chain

Backup up wallet.dat, delete everything in %appdata%\roaming\X11Coin\

Then copy back wallet.dat to that folder

run wallet

x11coin-qt.exe -addnode=162.243.109.24 -connect=162.243.109.24

thanks,

we need to convey this to the exchanges

This is only for people who's block shown in wallet doesn't match what is shown on the block explorer

Are pos blocks supposed to be coming in this slow?  Or is it slow because most people are on a wrong fork?

^^Sometimes we forget that we are working with computer illiterate who are just here for the COIN.

Now are you still trying to implement the out of date wallet notification that would help alert/avoid this situation?

The reason I suggested this from the beginning is because with more and more people getting into Cryptos, the more NOOB friendly we should make it.  the everyday computer noob has no idea where even to look to see if their wallet is updated (or how to open a command prompt let alone execute a command).  If we want a currency for everyone, I suggest implementing this as another innovative feature that makes XC even more user friendly.

Use different nodes! US East is a bit overloaded with hash right now (looks like one big farm on it), so get that spread to lower DOA. US West and US Central could take a fair amount of load off US East. Same with EU1, EU2, and SG1 - try to keep them balanced. Use the link below to see individual node stats.

cryptoalts only 88% effective
Same here. 12-13% DOA is not acceptable.

I was once supporting somewhere between 1-2 GH/s for BlackCoin when BCPool was down getting DDoS for entire week, and things were fine. But hash rates were pretty well spread. It is especially important for smaller miners to use lower hash rate nodes. Other than that, because my pool is P2Pool based (the only multipool out there P2Pool based I believe, and thus hopefully DDoS resistant), so once the hash rates get high (over 150 MH/s on scrypt per node or 500 MH/s X11 per node) the difficulty on each node starts getting very high. This leads to high DOA rates unless you're the one contributing all of the hash!

http://cryptoalts.com/poolinfo/ to see individual node hash rates.

I wasn't expecting this much hash so I guess I should been very clear right from the start about keeping the hash spread - sorry! Anyway, worst case, you at least know where to set your failover mining addresses if you cannot obtain a low DOA rate. Smiley

Don't forget if you are interested to give hybrid mining a shot! http://cryptoalts.com/hybrid/

add your difficulty may be to high i think
