Counterpartying
Anyone here follow BitSharesX? It seems like a scam or at the very least a beta project that makes a lot of unsubstantiated claims. How does counterparty plan to continue differentiating itself from such obvious scams, and is there a contingency plan for when the SEC or other govt. entity does a crackdown that doesn't differentiate between legitimate projects like counterparty that are done with little hype and plenty of real development vs. altcoins like bitsharesX that smell really bad?

Some of the articles on here discuss the problems with bitshares http://prestonbyrne.com/back-of-the-envelope/

Serious replies appreciated!

Counterparty separates itself from scams by not being a scam. If there is ever government action in the 2.0 space, Counterparty sits head and shoulders above other projects as there were no funds raised (no IPO). It's worth noting that Counterparty is an open, agnostic platform. Legislation and regulation will occur jurisdiction by jurisdiction while Counterparty is available world wide.

Also, we kind of touched on this in recent posts, but it's worth noting that Counterparty's development team is crushing everyone else. Perhaps I'm wrong and it's somehow a close race between Counterparty and other project devs (if it were even a competition). Even so, we're sitting on devs that are funding our project completely out of their pockets as they work on it full-time (giving them a significantly higher cost per XCP than everyone else). That, above all else, makes me confident in the future of Counterparty. They know what the road map is better than anyone else and they, as intelligent, informed individuals, are continuing to dump time and money into a quickly moving project that appears to be accelerating.

Yes exactly! I think we're in agreement now that whatever the rich want to spend their money on; they'd sooner burn it then give it to a moronic stranger on an internet forum. That brings us back round to my original reply to you, that they probably deleted it for being an idiotic post begging for money!

Actually, while you may recommend them to burn their money. We are offering a product in exchange for value.

Some people may see it as begging any rich people that may be reading this for a bitcoin. On deciding to give money away, most wealthy people would probably rather help a good cause!

Or they may want to spend it on gold grills and spinning rims,

Or they may want to spend it on gold grills and spinning rims, it's not up for anyone to decide but themselves. What it shows is the creation of another successful asset on the Counterparty network, and its partially humorous nature may attract some much needed attention.

The point of the blockchain is to be tamper and censorship-resistant, so it is really kind of ironic for information about our asset to be removed.

For some reason our Counterparty relevant post annoucing the release of our asset is being deleted from this thread for being 'off-topic'. It would be great if an actual reason could be given, since other announcements have been made here without any problems (e.g. GEM, Xbet, Tangible Trust, and many more.)

If you are interested, please head over to https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/anniamrich-flaunt-your-wealth-on-the-btc-blockchain-772502 [ANN][IAMRICH] Flaunt your wealth on the BTC Blockchain.

It may have been deleted for being completely idiotic?

Great news, enabling good quality cold storage is very important.

Cold storage for XCP and Counterparty assets can be accomplished using any Bitcoin address where you own the private key. This adds the ability to easily access your funds while in cold storage, without compromising the security of your wallet.

Hi guys, we're beginning to translate Counterwallet to other languages.
We have translators for French, German, and Chinese (Taiwan)

Looking for translators for other languages, including mainland Chinese, Russian, Japanese, etc.

The translation project page is at: https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/counterwallet

if interested in doing (and maintaining!) a translation, please email [email protected] and he can add you.

Just sent an email request to add me to translate to Italian. Smiley

MSC tx is considered as spam. I am wondering if XCP have the same issue?

Just FYI. The swarm guys are blaming counterparty bugs for not distributing their remaining swarm tokens: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8676754

And at the bottom of the page here : http://swarm.lefora.com/topic/4/Swarm-Vote-Two-ISSUE-BURN-HOLD?page=6

They don't reference a specific bug, but instead just post a link to ALL the known bugs in the counterparty software and say "this is the problem" Anyone care to comment?

I don't understand, they already managed to distribute Swarm to SWARMPRE holders before, whats holding them now ?

lol and xnova just ignores your post and moves on..

No ones post was "ignored". If you look at the commit logs for those issues, you'll notice both Ouziel and I have been working through fixes, which are now live.

Unfortunately my time is limited to where I can't respond to every single post. Ouziel is becoming the Counterwallet/Counterblockd team lead, and we've hired two additional developers.

I never doubt your work.

It was only pointed as a joke, sorry if misunderstood  Wink

No problem. I like dry humor, but that was bone dry. :p

It should be resolved within 24h. Don't worry guys. Fractastical (Joel) of SWARM is reliable and knows what he's doing. He reported the bug to Counterwallet devs when he noticed it, and they are cooperating on fixing it. He took the time to write it out comprehensively and screenshot everything that was wrong. Nobody is throwing anyone under the bus, and there is nothing 'mysterious' going on. With software that is constantly being developed, sometimes bugs appear. Just give it a day or so.

It was rapidly resolved. I don't think this is a big deal. These things come up in the course of many projects and people just need to be patient since software is complex and technical issues can take a bit of time to resolve sometimes.

Yep. Got my SWARMs. Thanks, Joel!

You are right more patience is needed. But I can't blame buybitcoinscanada and others for how they feel. It does seem the whole swarm investment/project is not going smoothly for investors in this early stage. But we must all try to remember that swarm is indeed in very early stages. Good to hear from you fractastical here.

Where does the money come from? Is Counterparty VC funded?

I mean it looks like you hire a lot of people, that's really good but it seems unlikely that you are funding all of that from your own pocket or mere donation.

I would guess over 98% of the money spent on Counterparty comes directly from the Founders personal funds.

I remember when I first burned bitcoins the Counterparty devs saying that they were self sufficient or something like that. Still, it does amaze me that they continue to pour resources into Counterparty. They must be using their personal funds from their previous successful businesses. I've had to sell some of my burned XCPs but it is because of the devs that I've done everything I can to still keep a respectable amount to hold. Notice I didn't say hodl, getting sick of hearing that.

So its another reminder that the devs never ask for donations but it certainly would be welcome.
