It sounds like a good thing but since Counterparty is functional with 40 bytes, what does the extra space do for us?

Yes, the "addrindex" patch, that adds a "searchrawtransactions" call that counterparty-server requires for certain functionality.

I think locking the asset would help in assuring people this will actually be a valuable asset to hold. Also, Countewallet is down again with server errors. The latest update is that, yes, this indeed appears to be related to the recent jump in unconfirmed (spammy) txes. Basically, once the mempool size reaches somewhere over 10,000 entries, the patched bitcoind we use starts to experience responsiveness issues with a specific API call, which causes counterwallet to fail to respond to user actions.
