If you don't understand why forking 1,500 blocks off the chain leads to a double spend then you really are an idiot. I set this up in literally about 20 minutes and then actually forking the chain to the point that my chain overtook the main chain literally took only about 2 minutes.

I had more explanation in my video of this, but apparently it's too long or some shit. ugh youtube.

I fixed the video, https://youtu.be/0Co3wy5IfCU . I offer explanation and you can clearly see how easy it is to fork this with about $1 worth of rented hash. I guess I'll have to setup a double spend if you really don't think that this is a security issue. Those are a bit more difficult to setup mainly because of timing, but still can be done in less than an hour
You have a point on the POW low diff. there was no need to put to much power on the network since the reward is only 0 per block. What you just did is nothing "Extraordinaire".
Now, why will someone think of attacking a network with 0 reward/block? if that was the case, XDE was dead months ago. The Community can decide what they want and the code
is open to anyone who want to participate or take over.

Simply saying "oh we haven't been attacked yet so it's secure" is not the right attitude to security, you have been attacked now and it is obvious how easy it is to attack this coin. While I find it entertaining at how incredibly bad this coin is I more feel sorry for those who have invested in it and would suggest that you actually listen to earlz and fix your broken coin before someone with actual malicious intent exploits it.
Talking abt Fix - you can fix it yourself if you can. I dont know that Ealz or whatever and I dont listen to some guy trying to play the "I know all".
And for your News, XDE code is not broken we are talking abt low diff. which is not even an issue only this "I know all" making it a Big security problem like if someone will
waist their time to attack the network. Understand that im not the author of this Coin so read the OP before talking bullsh*t you f8cking idiot.
XDE is been alive for months if you dont know it.

Fucking lol. I think the correct term for this is 'getting schooled', as from this it appears that it is in fact you who doesn't understand how the XDE code works, not earlz. I'm not sticking a single satoshi into such an insecure shitcoin that can be destroyed so easily and so fast. Either way, another shitcoin bites the dust and that certainly isn't rare, NEXT  Tongue

You f*ing Retard, the same thing he did, i did that before and it was a waist of time. All the Reward are 0 block and the diff. will come back to normal. Earlz or whatever just trying to prove nothing.

If you tried dislodging your head from so far up your own ass and actually listened to the advice that people were giving you then maybe you could start to understand why an experienced dev showing you vulnerabilities and exploits in your shitcoin while actually giving you solutions on how to fix it is not a 'waist of time'.

I'm guessing either:

  • You don't have a clue what you're doing and simply don't understand why your coin is so vulnerable to attack and why this is a bad thing for your coin.
  • Alternatively you do understand how vulnerable your coin is to attack but you simply don't give a fuck about security, integrity or your investors.

Simply saying "oh we haven't been attacked yet so it's secure" is not the right attitude to security, you have been attacked now and it is obvious how easy it is to attack this coin. While I find it entertaining at how incredibly bad this coin is I more feel sorry for those who have invested in it and would suggest that you actually listen to earlz and fix your broken coin before someone with actual malicious intent exploits it.

the fact that you went to such great lengths to show us how easy this would be is appreciated  Wink

Very informative vid indeed, lets hope the two of you can use your considerable joint knowledge to get this last problem ironed out.

And finally XDE can spread it's wings  Grin

So, I forked about 1,500 blocks. I meant to make it recoverable with a checkpoint, but something fucked up and my backup of the chain got overwritten.

Yes! that is what happen when you try to fool the Network. Please tell me how many xde did you gain and how many double spend did you make?
For the POS it is working if you dont know it - I thought of lowering the POS diff. before but did not see it necessary so on the next version I will test that idea and see how it
works.

I just replied to that Ealrz about XDE Hybrid POW/POS. He seriously dont understand how XDE code work.

I assure you that our network is secure the way it is - you have to deal with XDE to know
how its code work. If anyone want to attack our Network just because of the low diff, they can go ahead and waist their time.

I noticed that the chain stopped now, exactly at the time of your post.
Can you fix it?

He must.
I know, but I ask if he can revert what he did.

I just replied to that Ealrz about XDE Hybrid POW/POS. He seriously dont understand how XDE code work. We cannot stop the POW right now
if we do that fix, XDE blockchain will go dead just like the Previous one. I assure you that our network is secure the way it is - you have to deal with XDE to know
how its code work. If anyone want to attack our Network just because of the low diff, they can go ahead and waist their time.
The same guy Ealz brought the issue of the "Blockchain Files" and that is fixed and now they found something else to halt XDE - I think Bittrex do not want to
add it on their Exchange and I dont recall anyone having an issue with their Wallet recently.

In short words, the POW phase is long so that XDE can be widely spread in same time by keeping the Blockchain running. At the time that the POW ends, XDE will be very mature
and the POS will keep running and find blocks more often.

Please refer to these two Posts below nothing is new in XDE POW phase.

PoS currently doesn't work because you din't reduce the minimum difficulty, and it's tuned currently for a high-supply coin. If you reduced the minimum difficulty to something very low then you'd be able ot switch it to 100% PoS.

Either way, just because no one has any issues with something doesn't mean it's secure.

Perfect mblados, thanks for your explanation!
I believe that there is nothing bad about discussing the code and as you correctly point out XDE coin, due to low coinage, is a bit different than any other coin.
So that is perfectly fine.
