I still don't have confirmation anyone created SN based on Windows machine. Anyway you can use Virtual Machine.

You are right I didn't think about VM. Thanks.

The Trusted Setup is a vital part of what makes Zcash work. Zcash is the first coin to use a simplified implementation of a new cryptographic proof called zk-SNARKs (SNARKS for short). These SNARKS are the engine that can quickly and efficiently verify a transaction and add it to the blockchain without revealing any details to the public. The tricky thing about these SNARKS is that (like many algorithms) they need to have a one time setup. And the reason that this setup is called the “Trusted Setup” is because you have to trust that whoever generated those keys destroyed them when they were done.

Does this mean that ZenCash, ZCash, and ZClassic all share the same trusted setup private key?

  • Are you planning to have nodes on windows?
  • Where can I test if Intel Celeron G3900 2x2.8GHz is enough for a node?
Yes this processor should be enough.

Is there any site that lists the number of secure nodes online? The calculator is worthless without it.

https://securenodes.na.zensystem.io/

Thanks, debating on if it's worth the trouble. 3.5% was crap and they lowered it to 3%. Nodes should always be incentivized, Satoshi's 2nd biggest mistake. It should be more around 20%.

they lowered it ?

can you answer this MedaR ?
Payments are based on a 3.5% percentage of the mined block reward are split between all Secure Nodes  that meet criteria.
This is initial setting and can be changed later, we still don't have voting system implemented and Nodes are still in beta.

Thank you

Good information, but how was the trusted setup handled? Did the keys get burned in a way we can know it is done?
If someone got a hold of the keys, what damage could they do?
Zcash and ZenCash,  solves the privacy and fungibility problems by using zero knowledge proofs, Zcash was the first coin to use zk-ZNARKs.  In Zcash and ZenCash a private currency exists that divulges neither the sender address, receiver address, or amount sent. This is fundamentally different to mixing, and a fundamentally superior in terms of facilitating real privacy. The zero knowledge proof algorithm used in both Zcash and ZenCash is called zk-SNARKs.

Quote
Why do these keys have to be destroyed?

The initial parameter generation for the zk-SNARKS creates the keys that are used to create proofs for private transactions, and to verify those proofs. These keys are the single way for transactions to be proven as good and not forgeries on the global encrypted blockchain. When the keys are first created there is a hidden parameter that links the two keys. It is the secrets used to generate these keys that if not destroyed could be used to forge transactions by false verification thereby giving that person the ability to create unlimited Zcash undetected.

Question RE: ZENCash -  Was there any sort of a Trusted Setup like with Zcash?  If so - how was that handled?

So what is the Trusted Setup and why should I care?

Zclassic, a Zcash clone that changed some key parameters our community felt were important: removed both the 20% Founders’ Reward for the first four years (10% lifecycle equivalent) and the slow start to the money supply.

ZenCah - Release date: 8PM EDT, 23rd May 2017 as a fork from Zclassic (0:00 UTC). Anyone who held Zclassic prior to the block 110,000 chainsplit was allocated a 1:1 amount of Zen automatically. Simply import the Zclassic private keys into the new Zen wallet after the launch to redeem your tokens. Bittrex credited everyone who owned Zclassic at block 110,000 with an equivalent amount of ZenCash.

Good information, but how was the trusted setup handled? Did the keys get burned in a way we can know it is done?

I'm a little concerned with the node situation. Yes I understand the idea behind having such a low coin requirement giving most people the chance to join, but it seems rather lackluster (even with price growth) for the average investor. The idea of an investment is to net returns by being the "backbone" of the project. The complexity of compiling the node on Linux (let's be honest most people don't even know about crypto, even less know how to use crypto, EVEN less would have the knowledge to compile a node using Linux) + the lackluster rewards will hamper the coins growth. I do believe the coin will succeed but for now I released about 60% of my zen to reinvestment into other projects.
Why should you be concerned? System didn't even started yet. Once when we establish network, and voting system we will be able to change whatever is needed. Through System feedbacks we will be able to determine what is first in line for fixing or changing. Now we only need to be patient.

Now that there is some evidence McAfee can be bought for pump schemes, I wonder where drove him to mention ZEN. Hopefully, no one from ZEN engaged in any type of shady deals with that @sshole. It would hurt the coin significantly if it ever came out.

What evidence? Someone tried to execute scam. Anyway this is offtopic.

Note about Testnet ZenCash only. If you need testnet ZEN, you should be able to run testnet on your PC or Mac by adding the testnet=1 line to your zen.conf file. Then start your ZenCash wallet, and you should have a testnet transparent address. Ask for about 50 testnet ZEN in the ZenCash Slack or Discord #securenodes channel and post your testnet . Someone will send you some and you will off and running.
If you insist go to Discord channel #securenodes.

Mainnet Beta Information
The entire system will be in beta on mainnet with the intent to stress test the servers and address any new issues that come up as the load on the system grows. Once the servers have stabilized (target is two weeks), payment creation and processing will be enabled.

Payouts should begin within a few days of the first payment earnings created. This will be announced also!

We are on mainnet and you need a real Zen if you are going to setup Secure Node.
