Making a raffle or lottery and or any prize for vaccination I don't think it looks good although indeed, it will have a good impact on public awareness about the importance of vaccination. But apart from that, actually I still often find that viruses, pandemics and even vaccinations for some people out there think that it's just a game, and I can't accept that. That way, when there is a prize or lottery given for vaccination it reflects like a form of bribe that doesn't look good, because if people realize how important vaccination is then at least they will move on their own to get vaccinated and not because of the chance to get the lottery because then state spending will get bigger and can have a bad impact as well.
Vaccines are not 100% effective in terms of not getting infected, but it can give you enough strength to fight the virus and its very rare for you to have a severe case.

This is not a bride but a way to encourage more people, though this may be not look good but the government have no more choice since they can't really force everyone to get the vaccine, they are now playing with the emotion of people which I think is fine as long as its purpose is for the protection of everyone.

Well, we all have belief and lucky to those who will win on this lottery he will be safe with a lots of money for sure.

Finally, another country, namely Romania, launched a Vaccination Lottery for the public. It is hoped that this will encourage people to participate in the Romanian government's vaccination program. The amount provided by the Romanian government is RON15,000,000 ($3.5m).

This is good news for people and this lottery also aims to encourage vaccination and each participant will have four chances of winning. In addition, the government also agreed to make regulations for people who are eligible to be vaccinated to receive a meal voucher worth RON100.

It seems that the Vaccination Lottery program can attract people to register so that the government's target in reducing the number of people infected with Covid-19 can succeed. Maybe after this, there will be other countries that will follow. What do you think about the launch of this Vaccination Lottery? Can it attract the other countries to follow what USA and Romania did? Is that be a good way to attract attention from people to have vaccination because that teach them to use lottery to make money which we know that lottery is part of gambling.

if i come to remember it correct Romania is the 3rd country (That become viral) in which uses a Lottery to attract more people to get vaccinated .

Hope that Romania will get their target support and response from their people as this should be a mandatory if will allow by laws to totally stops this Virus from spreading and killing more and more people around the world.

Romania is not a Third world country, They are located on Europe and they have a good GDP compared to the real 3rd world country outside EU. They are just poor and weak compared to other country inside EU but they are still rich compared outside EU.
I mean they are the number 3 country that conduct lottery just to lure people to get vaccinated , as the first and second has been posted here in forum also though i cannot dig it more.
Quote
This kind of lottery system just to get people vaccinated is proof that they have enough money for there citizen safety, Here in our country which is the real third world country, We have limited supply of vaccine and vaccination has a priority list before  normal can get it especially on poor municipality.
Actually countries that having this is not only showing they have funds (Because Lottery can be rigged we knew that already)instead they are desperate to have more vaccinated because of they need to return living in normal again.

I think this will really makes people think about getting vaccinated. Well here in our country I haven't this here since we only get discounts in gasoline and also in foods. There are a lot of people encouraging those people that don't want to be vaccinated to be vaccinated one by giving them foods and also raffles i think i heard some doing raffles but it is just small amount , it is their strategy so that they could convince those people to get vaccinated.
I think it's much better than a lottery ticket though, I think discounts on gas and food items or even better, groceries could be the best because gas and groceries nowadays are gosh darn expensive and I would take any kind of discount on those things any other day.
The government can use many methods to convince its people to be vaccinated. A lottery, discount, or coupon is something that their people need to survive this pandemic. If you live in a country that uses that method to give incentives to its people, you are lucky because you can get something for free. But today, vaccinated will be a precondition to access or go to the public place, limiting people access in their city if they are not yet vaccinated.

I wish we have this one nationwide, there are place here that does this but not in major cities and big provinces, people really want to get vaccinated they go the vaccination area where there is an announcement of walk-in very early in the morning hours before the opening of the vaccination centers, some who are on the priority are having a hard time getting a slot, this lottery can only happen in rich countries, where there are to much supply of vaccines but people getting a vaccine, but in a third world all people want is to get a vaccine.

~~~
For the government, it makes sense. Given the inflated healthcare costs in the United States, it is better to give out $100 to those who vaccinate, rather than spending $200,000 or $300,000 on someone who gets admitted to the ICU as a result of COVID. For the alcoholics and junkies, this amount is enough to fund a week of their habit. Don't think that anyone else will bother about it in the United States. But this amount is like the average monthly salary where I live. Here if there is such an offer from the government, then you will find half the population queued up outside the vaccination center.
You talking normally about how exorbitant the prices are for healthcare in the US makes me so sad because they really make it a business and not a hospital that cares indiscriminately. Well, the amount is relative, in your country it's bigger since there's a rate of exchange between dollar and your currency but in there, it's probably not a lot of money.
Better than nothing indeed. What's the status now? Are more people willing now to undergo vaccine because of that lottery?  I don't see it will encourage more people. It's difficult to win in a lottery. Maybe if its a sure cash incentive, lots of people will be willing to do vaccination lol. Lots of things are now being offered to encourage people. Slowly by surely, everyone in the world will now be fully vaccinated, with or without incentives or any rewards.
Being practical? that will work if instead of lottery giving cash incentives or a grocery package may bring people's interest.
I'm not against with this act since government might try how Pfizer tries this one and bring people to vaccines facilities, but you
are right. Lottery is something that not appealing much, it's hard to win.
Maybe after this trial and nothing much impact that happened they will change strategy, just maybe though Roll Eyes
And how do you know the result isn't rigged? People who resist vaccine don't trust the government, and they won't trust the result is going to be fair. Cheesy
I just hope that the government won't get butthurt by how little this lottery affects people's decision, and then start door-to-door forced vaccination.
LOL I didn't think about that but you're right mu_enrico most people unvaccinated don't trust their government then how they could trust this kind of game? They'll just think it's another trick to fool them and they won't want to play with their health.
Sooner or later they would really be ending up with that kind of desperation where government would really force up door to door vaccination but i dont really believe that it would be still enough
on forcing those people who dont like to get some shots.Its true that they are really believing that they could fool out people to get some vaccine just because of lottery?
Thinking off with the odds and the things offered wont really be just enough yet they are really thinking off mainly on their health which i dont see
for this to be that much effective kind of way on luring in people.
It is always nice to see these get launched, as it is obvious to see that countries with the highest vaccination rates are returning back to some semblance of normality as quickly as possible. There will be people who will take it straight away, people who would never take it and people who are on the fence that might go for it given little extra incentives - that is the group that such rewards will be good at targeting. However it makes more sense to offer fewer prizes (e.g. 7 x 500,000) which are drawn every month or two, then heavily advertised as a winning payout. It would still be a life changing amount and spreading the news over time will have a much better effect.
Those people who do not trust the government are not the target audience for such actions. They are trying to lure those who are hesitant or just lazy to get vaccinated. Based on the example of my country, I can say that the effect of such actions is about zero, and maybe even negative - all people understand that free cheese is only in a mousetrap.
A little carrot and stick method won't hurt, I mean if it does the job, we have no questions about it right and I think that it's effective since it's making people encouraged to get vaccinated and given how a lot of people loves lottery, who would refuse a free ticket just for some doses.
The problem with vaccination revolves around the people and the media spreading misinformed news about it. Unfortunately, these people already have their biases towards vaccination and this fuels the fire more when they see people spreading fake information about it.
The government is trying their best to limit the movement of unvaccinated people by giving incentives to the vaccinated. In a way, this kinda forces these unvaccinated people to get vaccinated due to the rewards that they will be receiving once they got shot.
One factor is those negative news or misinformed news that keep spreading regarding to the available vaccines, the government is indeed trying their best to get everyone and have much lesser chance of spreading the virus, with this lottery some unvaccinated might try their luck and participated in hope that they will win and have a chance not just to move freely but also to win huge amount of money.
We can't go back to our normal ways of living without being vaccinated, just my own cents. This virus will stay and we need to do our part to prevent suffering from this covid virus.
Before I'm happy there's a perks like that but slowly as time passes by, I don't see that now as interesting one. It's hard to win in a lottery so giving them a chance to win doesn't have any impact.
They could just turned the winning amount for a fixed reward once a person got vaccinated. Or give them perks like discounts to all products and services. In that way, there's a reason for those who don't want to be vaccinated to have a shot as not just they will have a defense against the virus but also will give them benefits in their daily lives. That lottery is a joke. Only few winners out from million people.
The more government insist having everyone vaccinated , the more the people were trying not to be one. If were not yet ready to get vaccinated atleast we should be careful on what to do. It’s nice that many involve Vaccine in every activity one can do, it's like access to everything we  use to have before. But there should be a limit in using it like in gambling as people mighsomething they can have  The market will need
going to all citizens door to door and then requiring them to be vaccinated i think it's much more effective than pulling them with the lottery.  here we are not allowed to go to hospitals, travel or come to government offices if we are not vaccinated and show a vaccine card, that is enough to make us all want to be vaccinated.
IIRC, in some of the states, not actually the whole USA that has put that incentive but in a few states. Although there's a $100 incentive for those that will take the vaccine all over the US, CMIIW.
And for the other states, like California, they've offered also a lottery for the vaccinated people and you can search for the rest of the states that did the same.
(https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/may/27/california-covid-19-vaccine-lottery)
Thanks for the reminder, so there's really some lotteries in some US states that did a free lottery for those vaccinated population, what I don't know is that they have 100 USD incentive if they vaccinated themselves.
They do and it's for many states and these incentives are scattered not just on their country but others are also doing it. Because of one particular reason, many don't want to take the vaccine because of misinformation and there goes the incentivization and adding some prizes for everyone to get vaccinated. If most countries can do this, we will have to see the world again going back in what we've used to live before but a lot of problems are still there because supplies are in rich countries.
Personally, I think it's a good move by the government; people will do anything for money, especially those who don't trust vaccinations. Of course, if they're desperate for the money, they'll try their luck. They should also be aware that vaccination can assist to reduce the number of active COVID cases in the country. It's a win-win situation for both the government and the public; it's difficult to wear a face mask every day, and I, for one, wish to return to a normal state when I could move freely without one. I hope our government do the same, that urges the citizen to get vaccinated right now.
