The lottery is a good incentive for those who want to be vaccinated but the government should focus more on educating their people on the danger of CoVid and the need to be vaccinated, even if you are vaccinated you could still get a CoVid but it will help you fight the virus and you have a good chance to survive than when you are not vaccinated, people should learn how to fight this virus because sad to say it will be part now of our lives because it keeps mutating.

The government of any country has always been vocal about the benefits of getting a vaccine. The problem is, people are still hesitant despite those good reasons. That's why lots of attempts were made to convince them to the point that even involving a chance to join a lottery. A good move but there are "better" perks that people can benefit from for a long.

To be honest, I am not fully vaccinated yet because I am afraid of the brand of the vaccine that is currently available.
Is there any brand of the vaccine mentioned by the article of what it is? I am looking for a Pfizer brand which is I have heard and based on my research this vaccine has a good result other which is this vaccine is rare for now. However, this is a great opportunity that is given to others and the prize was really having an effect on the price.

There's no mention in the article but I think brand is not necessary as long as people there will be vaccinated. Regardless of the brand, as long as done with complete dose, are all eligible in the lottery.

Results vary per person's health. It was subjective. We can't really talk about "comparisons" here between brands.

Well lucky for them, --even though there is no prize on having a shot in vaccine I will still want to be vaccinated.
I saw a thread before here that there is a country that has a prize for those who had vaccinated, it is a good program to motivate their people to be vaccinated and as we saw, there are already millions of people that have been vaccinated already, so there is nothing to worry.
Here is my place, there is a province that has a vaccination lottery too, but the prize is a big cow that could be used by them for any purpose.
There's lottery or not i would really still get to be vaccinated because this isnt only talking about money but rather your safety or protection against the virus even though it isnt really that 100% effective but at least

you had considered out on getting one without any conditions but its good to see that there are countries that do offer lottery chances for those who do take a shot which they could really have the chance on

hitting up millions if ever they are extremely lucky.

The prize offered is quite large, of course, the vaccination there will hit the target

in my country, there is no need to make lottery prizes like this to get a lot of people vaccinated, it is enough to limit the movement of those who do not receive vaccinations and the majority are already very afraid of not being vaccinated

I hope the world returns to normal and the fear of covid disappears

This is an incentive program aimed to encourage people to get vaccinated against covid-19,

It is a reward program for people to volunteer while showing their prove of being vaccination and qualify for the lottery according to the health minister of Romania.

Quote
There will be 1,139 prizes in the total value of RON15.000.000 ($3.5m) and 19 draws (which will take place between 1 October and 31 December) as follows: 81 weekly draws (80 prizes worth RON10.000 and a RON300.000 prize), three monthly draws (each worth RON100.000) and two final draws (one worth RON500.000 and one final RON1m draw.

I see it isn't a bad idea to encourage people to get vaccinated , maybe more government may do same but definitely not countries that don't support gambling.

And there may be disadvantage for underage.

I do not know the details of this particular lottery at Romania but past lotteries that had the purpose to increase the number of people vaccinated have given scholarships to those that are underage as well, which is great for them as most of the time you do not want to give so much money to someone so young and at the same time they do not feel as if they are being left out by the government when they do something like this.

I'm definitely not against vaccine promotion, however, I'm not sure if that's the right way. Instead, there should be a campaign presenting its health benefits, not only as an individual, but also as a community, a high vaccination percentage means less cases, less deaths and in the end, less austerity measures.

This lottery is consisted of 1139 prizes, some are weekly draws, some monthly etc, providing each participant 4 winning chances. Doesn't sound much of a great deal to me.

Something similar also occurred in Greece, young people aged from 18-24 were given a prepaid card with 150€ in balance, only to be used for the tourism sector. With or without incentives, I was vaccinated, not because I wanted the prepaid card, but because it's what's required for this pandemic to end.
Social media are full of fake news, and educating people might take more time so the government have to think for a faster way and an effective way to encourage people from getting their vaccines, and I see this kind of promotion as a good one. Vaccine is not just for ourselves but also for people around us, get your vaccine now and have a chance to win some of the prizes. Smiley

I am okay with this promotion as some people may be encouraged to take their shot. But should not be given to only one person, if they can distribute their high prize to several people. At least the beneficiaries of this money is not only benefited by one single person but it can help more people. But anyway, it really depends on their government's program when it comes to this initiative. They know their people better so hopefully they can design an effective program that will accomplish their targets.

Focusing more on informational drive to bring deeper knowledge into the people, though if the government seen that by doing this kind of promotions, more people will have good interest. We can deny that fact that people are very lost right now. Most are at the point that they will do everything just to survive. Lottery may give them some hope and, aside from protecting themselves from the virus, the chance also to win for a good amount of money will bring them closer to being vaccinated.

I don't agree but if this the way where more people will entertain the vaccination, so why not give the government the chance? They will do everything to have their people being vaccinated and to lower the chance of spreading the virus.
I definitely get it that it's not done for a malicious purpose. It's done in an effort to increase vaccinations and avoid further lockdowns, which have detrimental effects in both the community and economy of the country. I believe that there were better methods in promoting vaccinations, but whatever floats their boat.

Another measure that was taken here was mandatory weekly rapid or PCR tests for all working individuals who are unvaccinated. These must be paid by their own pocket as well. Quite a lot of people rushed to get vaccinated because they weren't willing to pay for weekly testing.

this is a very sad reality, people must go vaccinate with the awareness that they are being vaccinated to save their lives, the government does not need to buy them with lottery to be vaccinated, this just shows a great lack of brain of people who to be vaccinated need to be purchased with lottery tickets. I don't see this movement as a good thing, on the contrary, it just shows the lack of responsibility of people who do not want to be vaccinated and need to buy them with lottery tickets

Can you blame the people about this?
People have now seen that doing certain things is to do favour to government for them to embezzle money and see means to hide the money lying with expenses done with covid-19. There is no trust  in government anymore because of bad history created in government so that has led to untrust in the systems. There are many stories about covid-19 and vaccine so people are still doubting things around covid-19 that makes for government to introduce lottery but it is funny though. Where trust is lost, is hard to regain it.

Finally, another country, namely Romania, launched a Vaccination Lottery for the public. It is hoped that this will encourage people to participate in the Romanian government's vaccination program. The amount provided by the Romanian government is RON15,000,000 ($3.5m).

Why would it encourage people? To me it is quite lame. Even mathematically it is quite stupid. Why don't they just 35000 people $100 instead? This way they could have helped more people. Now there will be only one lucky guy and that's if they don't cheat.

If more than 35k people participate in this scam, it is even worse like shooting yourself in the foot for <$100.

This is good news for people and this lottery also aims to encourage vaccination and each participant will have four chances of winning. In addition, the government also agreed to make regulations for people who are eligible to be vaccinated to receive a meal voucher worth RON100.

It seems that the Vaccination Lottery program can attract people to register so that the government's target in reducing the number of people infected with Covid-19 can succeed. Maybe after this, there will be other countries that will follow. What do you think about the launch of this Vaccination Lottery? Can it attract the other countries to follow what USA and Romania did? Is that be a good way to attract attention from people to have vaccination because that teach them to use lottery to make money which we know that lottery is part of gambling.

Although i am not in favor of lottery system but as long as people are encouraged to get vaccinated, it is ok to give them hope to earn via lottery.
Apart from this, awareness session should be given on media and people must be told the benefits of getting vaccinated.

If the country I currently reside in will launch a vaccination Lottery for the public just like Romania and Poland, there are folks who wouldn't mind getting their whole clan to the vaccination center to increase their odds of winning the lottery. Damn, things are not easy for both the middle class and lower class folks with the ever rising food prices with no food subsidy, ever worsening security challenges and the obvious apathy from the government. Money is a great motivator, no doubt. Kudos to Romania and Poland. However, I would like to know how Poland has fared so far since the launch of their vaccination Lottery.

In my country (Russia), similar lotteries were also held, but not at the federal level, but at the city level. Although now I googled and found federal programs - literally on September 15, the first 500 winners of 100 thousand rubles each (about $ 1400) were identified.
My attitude to such events is sharply negative - after all the pressure and attempts to discriminate against unvaccinated people, these actions look like an attempt to lure the victim into a trap.

This idea of incentivizing vaccinations is way better than going against anti-vaxxers and only riling them up more against yourself and what you stand for. This is clearly the better choice in dealing with the crowd. I do however wonder how much of an effect such a promotional campaign might have in other countries, especially in richer countries in Europe.

LOL.. It was the state of Ohio in the US that first came up with the idea of vaccine lottery. It was wildly successful and distributed a top prize of $1 million each to the five winners. Five others (between 16 and 18 years of age) received college scholarships as prizes. And although in Ohio the proposal came from the Republican governor, many of the Democrat ruled states also came up with similar measures later. And then it was Poland which came up with the vaccine lottery (probably the first country in the European Union). And now it is Romania.
