Is Bitmain looking at releasing a firmware for the Antminer D3 to enable alternative algorithm mining?

I would really recommend developing firmware to enable mining of other algorithms as Bitmain's reputation is at stake.

The D3 is currently not profitable at all and it is still a new miner.

And the response -

We brought the D3 to production in response to customer demand for Dash coin miners. Our D3 miner is designed for maximum efficiency to mine Dash coin with the X11 algorithm. This is programmed into the hardware and cannot be changed.

Profitability of mining depends largely on the difficulty of the Blockchain and the exchange rate of the coin, which are outside our control.

Mining altcoins is speculative and carries a number of risks as well as potential rewards. We encourage our customers to research these as with any investment.

Best regards,
Barbara
Bitmain

The question is;
Are they right or wrong about the algo addition capability
If it is  the ultimate truth , this is very bad news.

The best result that I get from new D3 modded firmware is 16.8 GH/s at 840W of power
how to do that plz

I have setup 462 with lowest ASIC voltage and fan 30%

My turn to feedback.. Grin

I have more or less the same result.. 462/lowest ASIC/16.2Ghs/810W.
Running at 25 minutes with 0 HW. Chip Temp@75/73/77 & PCB Temp 61/57/61. Fan speed percentage NOT set. Fan runinng at 3800 RPM/3900RPM

Compared to Unflashed Nov 19.3Gs..
487/17.2Ghs/1050W
Running at 25 minutes with 0 HW. Chip Temp@77/75/83 & PCB Temp 60/58/64. Fan speed percentage NOT set. Fan runinng at 5250RPM/5100RPM

Really nice to see such efficiency improvements Cheesy

@blissz thanks for the firmware and great work. Setting the ASIC power to lowest setting makes it set it back to Default Setting. Does setting power to 1 makes it the lowest setting?

Yes the default = lowest.

I want to turn back the algo issue.

Here is a comparision

Quark and Qubit algorithms can profit more than 30 $ while the x11 can profit only 2 $

These values are for 10 ghs . So in case of 20 ghs mining speed , profits will be double.

Baikal owners really very lucky . I hope, this topic will succeed the same thing for everyone.

True, the only way for have a roi with november batch is to mine a single algo that is included in x11 algo

I think we should focus in the algo, with a good profit, the energy won't matter so much. I'm starting in dev, i'll take a look in the code and see if I can figure it out.

Is this an example of what your are talking about?  https://www.nicehash.com/news/114

Hopefully someone can figure out something similar for the D3...

for me the firmware works good ,removing the ultra fan speed on boots is worth the fee XD, but how much is the devfee?? do we know if its going to be possible other algos?? , best configuration for u guys ?? ty

After changing the low speed fan(2000rpm), the speed can not be recognized

Are you sure you flashed the custom firmware (from the start page), as I removed this fan speed check.
To check if you flashed the custom firmware: go to the minerAdvanced.cgi page and you should see the voltage control settings

Can you write a correct flashed firmware step?why i flashed firmware for it and i can't finded the web page to change the voltage.the web page just have the frequency choices
