My L3+ came in too late for me to deploy at the data center. All I have at home is a pair of CX750M's. They've got 8 PCIE connectors, but obviously I need one more for the controller.

I have some spare 6 pin PCIE cables here, but no Y splitters.

Are the 6 pin Peripheral & SATA ports on the CX750M pin and power compatible with PCIE? If so then I could test the L3+ before getting it to the data center.

I guess alternatively I could simply not power one of the blades. That would at least be a partial test.

Never mind. I just measured the Peripheral & SATA ports and they're only 3.3 volts. Rats...

Just wanted to point out for you folks wanting to use ATX PSU and only have 8 PCIE connectors, you should look for a molex to 6 pin pcie adapter and plug it into the controller. Controller should be fine using an adapter. I found lots of these adapters in my old GPU boxes.  They are 2-12volt molex to 1-6 PIN PCIE adapters.

Is it worth buying one of these that have a july 20-30 ship date?

Honestly im new too but even with the diff going up, ive done the calculations and for someone who wants to grab a hold of some coins before it turns into bitcoin hard, Yes getting 1 or 2 in july is still worth it, i got two coming in july and until then i bought 2 a4 dominators to grab some as soon as possible, the wait is gonna suck but its only at 29$ but i can definitely see it going up to 50$ very soon. i didnt hesitate, dont wait till they sell out just to see if 1 would be profitable, it probably is.

Just unpacked my first L3+ and am reading the A4 page that came with it. It says there

When powering the device up, please be sure to power the has boards first and the control board only after the hash boards have been powered.

I was wondering how you guys solve this. I was thinking it was as easy as just switching the power supply on that powers control board AND hash boards and powering therefor both at the same time. Does anybody really delay the powering of the control board ? Or does this more refer to situations where multiple power supplies are used?

Just want to know before I see the miner go up in flashes and smoke  Grin

Thanks for any advice in advance!
You can power everything on together :-)
You should just avoid first to power on the control board and then the hash boards since that might cause to problems. This won't happen if you use one PSU.

Cool, thanks - that is what I interpreted into those lines, but wanted to confirm.
Will head back to the basement now to flip the switch for the first time  Cheesy

The million dollar question.  As of now it looks like yes good idea but things can turn sour quick by way of diff to price change.  No easy way to answer that one.  And to add to the question is what will bitcoin do in the 2 months its tied up with bitmain.....

Does anyone know the manufacturer of the two fans (and model numbers) on the L3+s?  I've been to Bitmain's support site and tried to order replacement fans  but they are not on the pick list.

UPDATE:  Bitmain is not stocking the fan as a spare part so if there is a fan failure you'll have to go through warranty repair.  Looks like you won't have to return the unit and they will ship out a new fan.  Would still be best if we know the fan manufacturer as we know it could easily take a week to get a spare part and lose 5-14x that much in mining revenue while waiting.

but be aware difficulty is going up big time due to bitmain kicking out units like toasters..thus use a calc like

So anyway difficulty has gone up 100% on LTC in last month.thus any static machine in the barn you own is now making 1/2 the coin

On the other hand, there is no miner more efficient than the L3/L3+ right now, so folks will STOP buying them when they get to be low-enough profitability.

Also, Litecoin price has kicked up about 6 times in the same timeframe that the difficulty has doubled - and Bitmain seems to be having the same "limit of chip availability" issues with the L3/L3+ that they've shown with the various S9/T9/R4 batches limiting HOW MANY they can make, which should keep the difficulty increases somewhat in check for a while.

For reference, my A2 farm is MORE profitable right now by a wide margin than at any other time since I bought the things except for about a 1 day period right before the last diff jump - despite the massive increase in diff since the Innosilicon A4 was first introduced. Gonna take a major Litecoin price drop and/or a LOT more of a diff jump before the A2 gets to be unprofitable, much less the Titan A4s or L3/L3+ units.

Yeah..it is embarassing   ROI'd KNC Titans (1st one Nov 8th 2014) have NEVER made as much money as they are now. (I mean the damn things really are 'evil' they
cannot die.they are like a steven king novel ....'christine' asic edition)

Electrical engineer. Mining since 2014.

What is that IP report button for?
See chapter 4 here: https://shop.bitmain.com/files/download/Antminer%20S7%20user%20guide.pdf

This is a S7 manual, but same thing with IP Reporter goes for the L3/L3+.

Pleasantly surprised.. Mine actually shipped out Wednesday afternoon China time (Fedex) and arrived without issue east coast US this morning by 10am. So far so good - works as described, no obvious signs of use/abuse.

Did I hear these can work wireless? Is that something you add on after the purchase or something you have to request directly from Bitmain at the time of order?
Also interested in hearing about noise level... I know these boys require decent cooling, wondering if the fans are up to the task...

The miner itself does not support wlan in the web interface, there is only eth0.

Regarding the noise, it is much louder than the L3, but not as noisy as the A4 Dominators.
