After some serious thinking I decided not to buy the S1. I'd pay 1.40BTC(this is roughly for VAT,PSU,any other fees) to get back 1.40 after 5 months.
Hello brother. Unless your electricity is very expensive I think you will make that 1.4 BTC with your Antminer in about 3 months max. I use about $16 a month running 1 Antminer overclocked at $.10  KWH.
Now the real issue as after that 3 month mark how much profit will you make with the Antminer until it does not make enough to pay for it's own electricity. AT that point it is worthless. This is true with any gear. Right now Antminers are a better deal than anything out there and I want as many as I can get my hands on. Bitmain rocks.

if you need PSU, don't look Watt only.
please check Ampere in 12V.
Minimum requirement Ampere in 12 V is 30 A

This is a good point.  I recommend Corsair power supplies - at least 750 watt models or higher.  The CX750M is a modular design so you'll have less cable clutter and it supplies 46 Amps on the +12V rail.  Whichever power supply you're using, look at the +12V DC Output amperage and ensure that it's greater than 30 Amps.

Even something like this will work but I like the CX750 better

that is an 80+ bronze. is not a good recomendation for psu because of it's effiency of 80% .. can do better and buy 92% effiecient psu's like rm1000 can host two oced ants.. i saw someone post an 80+ bronnze psu was pulling 400 watts per non oced ant . should choose 92% efficient psu to mine with imo . choice of psu is most important for longterm mining considerations.

Guys, please answer my questions above. Do you think it's worth it if ROI is 5 months? It's 3 months without VAT and PSU, but 5 with them.

I don't like a 5-month ROI. But I think your 30% adjustment estimate is too high. We haven't had a 30% yet this year. Rerun your estimate with 20% adjustments.

I calculated a 50 day ROI for me. Since we have no VAT and our electricity is pretty low. For me it is less than 10 cents a KW. I think I am at .095 / kwh.
Did you factor in the PSU that you will purchase? Also I strongly suggest looking at whether you will ROI your Bitcoins, not the $.

personally i think have to eat the psu costs since the psu can be used in other applications such as future miners or in a new pc .. i have an entire fleet of corsairs now .. and one those corsairs ended up in a new uber pc i just finished building for my son even though the psu was originally bought for mining . i have enough psu power now to host two more antminers if i wanted without buying more psu's. do i still include the price of a psu in in my calculations when i buy two more S1 or S2 ants ?? rm1000's are only $200.00 and can host two oced ants .. i like the idea of buying my own psu's.

Can I come and live with you?

Seriously, where do you live? (if you don't mind me asking)

Texas. Energy here is de-regulated to the point where we get to choose our electricity provider. I as just looking at http://www.powertochoose.org/en-us/Plan/Results and I can get a 6 month FIXED rate contract for 8.4¢ per kWh.... not too bad!

I love Texas! Lucky you!

I am really curious about their next product, I sold all my GPUs and beside the 3 jalapenos I had and sold after a week I did quit mining, I am going to wait and see what they bring next, I might start mining again after all  Smiley

Does each antminer need its own PSU? Or can they share?

They can share but the efficiency of the PSU makes a big difference.  I run 2 ANTS OC'd on an OCZ 1000W and 2 more OC'd on an EVGA 1000W with no problem.  Both PSUs are 80+ GOLD and my Kill-A-Watt shows they are pulling between 800W-805W at the wall.  By contrast, I have a single ANT OC'd on a 700W 80+ BRONZE PSU and it pulls 460W at the wall so 2 OC'd ANTS on 1000W BRONZE PSU would probably be a bad idea.

I set up a share:
3 ants with 2 dell 750 total of 6 blades , 3 blades one dell and 3 the other, and oc to 375mhz no problem and another setup with 2 old dell psu from desktop pc connect to one s1, these old dell psu have 90% or better efficientcy and cost almost nothing as long they have 20 amps at 12 volt one can use for each side.

They dont have 90% effeciency at least in my exprience. My gold 750W PSU's get 30-40W less per antminer than the dell server PSUs .. nonethless the dell and HP server PSU's are a great value!
