i think that new FW somehow messed up my miners..

since i got them they have been steady at 453 @225.

since i updated the FW and put the FW back to the 826 FW, reset them and put them back @ 225 one is 446 and one is 438.. also they keep beeping..

what do i do??

You can always downgrade to the prior firmware.

i did that.. and i updated the cgminer with the new 4.6 one..

they just arent working as hard as they were Sad

its just not numbers either, my payouts have gone down.

edit, i think the beeping is from ghash.io i have in the #3 spot keeps going down.. even tho i have it set to not beep.. any ideas on that too?

Yep, now you are ready to rock. For what it's worth, if you are not solder iron averse, ditch the spades and simply solder as it gives a more solid connection.
PS. Could not find any of those PCI-e Sockets with female pins for 49p from the link you gave .... or did I not look closely enough?

No, the sockets are male sockets but they take female pins (that may have been the confusion). And yes, I saw the 1.15 ones, not the 49p .....

Look at my signature.i sell 24" 16awg pcie cables. The ends are stripped, so it's easy to either solder them to the server PSU, or buy the correct size of pins at a hardware store and crimp them to the wires.

And way cheaper than most other sellers ($1.40-$2 each in the quantity you want, as opposed to $4-6 elsewhere, often with only 18awg)
What is your shipping cost to the UK for 10?

Prohibitively expensive as if ships from Canada. Probably close to $20 using the cheapest surface option, and closer to $30 for tracking. Shipping to the EU only starts to make sense at >40 units

Just calculating the 16 awg cable, at 6 pieces per 6-Pin connector at 600mm thats make it a total of 3.6m per complete leg.

I need 8, 8 x 3.6 = 28.8m

Then I asumme ill need two colours (black and Red) 15m of each should do the trick.

Also, bear in mind :
1. Each rail is ~22A and you can draw that with a fully populated 6 pin, BUT it may be awkward to solder 3 16AWG wires on a single terminal (even spading them may be fiddly ....), i.e you may need some 22-25A wires feeding into an inline from where you can connect the socket wires.
2. Before you cut your wires to make your 6 pins, look at the layout you will have your setup in (you may want / need some wires longer depending on your arrangement!)

Will post link in about 10 mins just want to get the order finished. Its saying squared or tapered, I assume it doesnt matter for the S3?

Also, bear in mind :

By straight division, each raile has 21.875A so all you'd have to do is have each rail power a single PCI-e socket!

4x S3+ OC'd

You need to get the notion that you need 4 connectors populated to power an overclocked S3+ out of your mind.
I'll do some maths for you to judge what you need.

Each 6 pin PCI-e connector, fully populated with PROPER 16AWG cables carries 7.5A * 3 = 22.5A which equates to 270 Watts @ 12V
That is enough to power a board in an overclocked S3+ (just one socket!), so for a 1200W PSU, you can safely power 2 S3+'s overclocked. Having said that, a single S3+ will not draw that much power, so a 1000W PSU can safely power 2 overclocked S3+'s.

Depending on how much power is available on each rail of your PSU, one 6 pin PCI-e socket should be adequate per S3+ board (making it 2 for the rig), but if you chose to populate all four, go ahead. For the cost and headache of an off the shelf PSU, I'd recomend a server PSU which are fare more efficient and robust than their desktop counterparts (and cost next to nothing, again compared to their desktop counterparts!)

Also I understand the concept of only requiring 2 pair device but that using 16awg, just looking at my Cooler master VGA cables and they say 18awg.

So in theory its not the device that requires the extra power, its the quality of cables used.

4x S3+ OC'd


You need to get the notion that you need 4 connectors populated to power an overclocked S3+ out of your mind.
I'll do some maths for you to judge what you need.

Each 6 pin PCI-e connector, fully populated with PROPER 16AWG cables carries 7.5A * 3 = 22.5A which equates to 270 Watts @ 12V
