I received 8x S3's in the first batch.  I have not attempted to under or over-clock any of them.  I did update the firmware to the latest release.  Seven are in a data center and one is in an office.  All are running around 38-40 C.
I did no mods, no paste check, nothing.  Plugged them in, updated the UI and let them run.
Here is the average speed at the pool for the past 24 hours:

443 Gh/s
445
445
446
448
448
450
452

The 446 is the one in the office running slightly hotter.
They do fluctuate from one minute to the next.  But the 24 hour averages are all within 9 Gh/s or only a 2% variance.

Curious to know your power supply choice and whether or not you are using 2 or 4 PCIe connectors per unit?

I am all over the board.  I have 2 on a Corsair 850, 3 on the EVA 1350 as recommended and three are on server PSU's.

EDIT - Only two cables per miner.

anyone used DHL for shipping method ? are they good ?

They have to be better than UPS, out of my B3 order 1 was lost and 4 were stolen by one of the UPS guys with the last name of Wilkerson he had a hold put on the account and had it moved to will call and pick them up.

So anyone using UPS keep an eye out for a hold being put on your account.

212.5 seems like the most stable freq for my set. He is negligible, temps are low as well 38C< on both.

how much gh you get on 212.5?
I couldn't make it go above 424, while some people report in mid 430ies.

Yours is a better experience than for most people. I have one machine from batch 2 that is stuck at 420-424GH, no matter what mhz I throw at it (all four from batch1 work to spec).
I have a feeling that batch 1 was probably their best miners selected to have the best performance and therefore BEST reviews. Batches 2-3 are average, but it is probably to be expected to a degree.

My units ( 1st batch ) are doing the same as yours. It is VERY strange that there is such a discrepancy in performance.  I could understand if they all just didn't meet the expected speed but there are such a wide range of problems being experienced.
Time and some very smart electronic types will find the answer I'm sure.

No improvement at all.
The paste was applied quite good, i re-did it anyway and no changes.
Unit still is a troublemaker, starts good, creeps down in a few hours, gets errors.
When i reboot it, all Chips are gone. Only hard reboot by pulling the plug a minute gets it back.

I'm seeing very similar performance. Though, I will say, ONCE I had both units hashing at 441GH for over 12 hours at 218. But they were in a temporary location and I doubted anyone would appreciate me bowling through the DC with a 4000VA UPS on a crash cart.

Every time, starts out at 470, works its way down below 400. Every miner in my batch order.

I just did this today, no problem, the paste was still not hardened.

Though I doubt it, did you see any performance improvements after cleaning and re-applying?

Is it safe/feasible to inspect and possibly clean the thermal paste on a miner that was working more than a week already?
ASICs will not pop out when I'll dislodge the hardened paste?
I have a couple of miners that I want to do this on and generally wonder if this is even worth trying.

Just got my two after a lot of trouble. UPS gave me statuses like "We've missed the scheduled transfer time. This may cause a delay." and "A mechanical failure has delayed delivery. We're adjusting plans to deliver your package as quickly as possible.".

Anyway. This is my 7th and 8th Bitmain miner and the order process is great every time. Shipment, packaging, pricing is good. And now with the S3, the hardware quality is also top notch! Plug, config, mine in a few minutes! Thanks Bitmaintech

Thanks for the info on My Choice. I have 6 month premium free (coupon code is out there if you want to try it), but nothing is showing up yet. Maybe it has to get out of China first.

Anyone use UPS My Choice? Do shipments from Bitmain ever show up on My Choice? Need to release signature.

Yes, I use it and I like it a lot. You can authorize a release and specify the location you want them to leave it.

only if you get my choice premium for $40/year (at least this is what they told me).

No, I don't think so.  On previous orders I normally see an "Export Scan" entry around 24 hours after the initial "Departure Scan."  Give it twenty-four hours and then you'll know for sure :-)
