I have managed to get into one miner and added my config, but its not actually mining.  also anyone know what the ip is for the 2nd ant?

They all come pre-configured to 192.168.1.99.  So, you need to change the IP address for each, well at least the first one.  Once you have the first S3 set to a different IP address to anything else on your LAN i.e. 192.168.1.201, you will be able to access the second S3 on the original IP address on 192.168.1.99 and then change that to a different unique IP address.

They both have the same factory settings.  You probably need to change the IP of the 1st one from default (192.168.1.99 according to the manual) so that it doesn't clash with the 2nd one. (same as for multiple S1's).

Your PC might be in the wrong IP range ?!

my pc is on 192.168.0.1 etc.   does that mean i should change it?

Plug the S3 ethernet into your PC & unplug your PC from your router.Change your PC IP to 192.168.1.100 or something, now log into the S3 & change it to 192.168.0.10 or something.Do not make both your PC & the S3 the same last digits.

Change your PC back to the IP you had before you started & plug both PC & S3 into your router & login to the IP you set it too  Wink

Scroll down to Setup IP address on your computer:

That should get you thru this  Cool

Got my two S3s today, and I must say I'm very impressed. Well built, quiet, and easy to set up. I was even happier to see these things actually support wireless right out of the box, although no antenna connector has been added to attach an antenna to this.

So, any particular reason why a suitable hole for an RP-SMA connector wasn't drilled and a RP-SMA pigtail attached to the AR9331 board? I added my own RP-SMA pigtail and got Wi-Fi working right out of the box with less than five minutes extra configuration...

Are there plans to add these bits and pieces in a future revision? The pigtails only cost a few cents extra after all!

That is extremely peculiar. Why would they not do that? I'm sure there are enough people that decided against buying for this reason out there to justify drilling holes on these boxes and connecting a pigtail.

Anything with a wifi/antenna connection usually comes under even more scrutiny when it goes trough customs

the same as for the first ant. you need to switch one of their ips.

enter data, click save and apply.

Check whether IP4 gateway and local ipserver have your routers ip (under wan settings).

Outer Heat Sink Mod

Cleaned and Reapplied Thermal Compound

Reinforced Springs for better contact of outer heatsink (Lucky find in my parts collection)

Brought my temps down 6 degrees (46/47 -> 40/41 and seemingly stopped all HW errors... also running at 225 instead of 218.75..
I chose to work on this S3 because it was performing worse than my others, prior to mod I had 26 HW errors after 5 hours @ 218.75..
Time will tell, but at the moment its my star performer!

I am looking to sell one of my S3 that arrived today. I only want to keep one. It is still in its box and can ship out in the next three hours. I am looking for offers above 0.8BTC. You pay shipping.

Above is the one i have opened. I will have a video uploaded soon on the device.
That's one quick turn around for profit mate.
Also, how did you not have to pay extra $ for import tax, did Bitmain value the 2 less than $1k?

Hi All, the manual for the S3 is on the bitmain website.
check, https://www.bitmaintech.com/files/download/Antminer%20S3%20Manual_EN_2014.7.16.pdf

Thanks, now I have a manual but still no batch 1 S3's.
But at least now I can read about them.

argh so I got my S3's today, went in to fix all the settings, set up static lan on my normal subnet, disabled wan on bootup, rebooted without testing like an idiot, and now I can't connect to them. The lan interface doesn't seem to be working. I'm pretty sure the cabling/switch is fine, as other stuff is running through them. Anyone know what I can do?

Why didn't you do one at a time, then if you had made a mistake you would at least have the S3 that hadn't been changed?

On the S1's I plugged the Ethernet cable straight into my laptop when this happened, could connect via browser and change settings.  Worth a try on the S3  Smiley

There was a way to short the pins on S1 that allowed you to reset it to factory settings. Check out the logic board and see if it has the same pins.

There was a tiny button on the S1 logic board that would reset to factory settings.  Looking at the pictures of the S3's out there (I'm still waiting as well) you'll need to remove the cover.  This is assuming there is a button on this unit, worth a look if you're comfortable with a screwdriver  Smiley

Good to know, I added a note on my order to make sure that it falls under the $AUD1000 GST threshold.... maybe that confused Bitmain and that's why my stuff is still 'unshipped'....

Cheers
