Do they blow a lot of heat? I guess all ASICs do...

Nice. What's the PSU and hashrate?

The 2 S3's are running off of an Enermax 1000W (ERV1000EWT-G) PSU I pulled out of one of my S2's. Each S3 is averaging 440Gh/s (+/- 5Gh/s)

I was order #8 in batch 1. Received all 4 S3's today.

Did some power measurements for those who might be curious. Kill-a-watt is showing power draw at the wall for two S3's as they come out of the box.

So what are the other 2 pcie connectors for ?

If you had to guess, what would your answer be?

Nice. I can fit 3 of these on a EVGA 1300 watt PSU.

Hopefully someone will be able to figure out what this " dc/dc" component is and figure a way to replace it with a proper one.
This should get them back to their advertised speed and probably allow safe overclocking.

Allright, i feel like i will try to push one of mine to 225 mhz... let's see Tongue

Up and running ... more to come Tongue

22 mins in 445 Gh/s (still going up) Fan speed is pretty much the same .. temp also 38-40. It looks like we could push those more with the correct DC/DC component replacement.

50 mins in, 450 Gh/s for the first one.
30 mins in, 409 Gh/s (only) for my second.

End of test for now, back to normal freq.

Thank you for the test.  So am I right in understanding that hash rate went down on one of them when you stepped it up to 225?

Yes, both of them on 225 Mhz. Take in consideration that the second unit at 409 only had 30 mins. A fair test would be like 24 hours but i don't want to risk my miners yet ^_^

I don't know, a 30 minute average should be pretty close to where it would be at 24.  You might see some variation but the difference between 409 and 450 is larger than I would expect to see in 24 hours.  Sounds like there are quite a few under-performing miners in this first batch even after the lowered expectations from Bitmain.

At 218.75 for 3 hours, it was running fine at 438

Sadly I ordered on 7/1. I was informed by the reseller for the US that my order was accepted. 24 hours later my order was changed to Batch 2 and I was not informed. I am not amused.

Apparently ordering from the last person that lists Batch 1 and paying shipping won't get your a Batch 1 order.

If I had known I would get a Batch 2 either way I wouldn't have bothered with the middle man. I mistakenly assumed because of previous BITMAIN sales Batch 1 would ship more then 2 days earlier or as it stands now into Batch 2.

I asked 112bit about the discrepancy yesterday about this time. I would have asked 15 days ago when they changed it but I was not notified. I found out when I tried locating my Batch 1 #. They have yet to get back to me. I'm not sure how you can sell Batch 2 units before there is a Batch 2. I do see how they priced them at Batch 1 pricing. I wonder personally if 112bit didn't oversell by a lot and fill most of the batches. I have nothing to base this on but one order placed many hours before the Batch 2 announcement.

For those in Batch 1 with orders that may not be delivered before Batch 2 depending on location I feel for you. I paid enough for a power supply on top of Batch 1's price and I don't even get marked as Batch 1. This is a learning experience. I learned BFL didn't care about order placement and would ship units infinitely late if they screwed up and you didn't catch them. Now I have learned 112bit is exceptional at overcharging people. I see the advantages in skipping a middle man clearly. No additional shipping, likely less delays, hopefully less selling later Batch units for earlier Batches prices.

I am going to try another email address for 112bit and hope they answer promptly.

where do they sell power supplies like that? Is it dell? did it come with that board also? Smiley

Yes it is a Dell server PSU 750w here is who makes and sales the boards. There was a group buy going on for them I just bought mine direct. You can get the board or the whole setup.

Any trouble with running 2 s3's off of that 750?

None so far. All wires cool to the touch just as psu itself.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet... but the S3 has wireless.  I've got mine in hand, saw the wifi tab, figured I would try it out.  Bam!

So, while I don't see any place to hook in an antenna, having it sitting right next to my router, that's kind of irrelevant.

I'm getting ~450GH/s on p2pool (my local node).  Not bad at all!

What is onboard for a controller? Some little tplink router knockoff?

If you put dip switch 1 to on the fan is almost silent, temperature controlled by power supply.
Bob

Thanks, very good to know.
