I bought today the s4 and about one month i buy again 2 machines. I dont know what's the problem. The miners what i have from them work perfect and after next week i make something like 2.5 btc a month. so not bad with my 5 a 6 th/s

No problem feel free and buy the 4 I was going to get, I prefer to actually ROI not just mine btc at any cost.

Funny how Bitmain went from the preferred home mining manufacturer to the most hated so quickly. What a fickle business this BTC mining is!

Miners got themselves worked up about the possibility that Bitmain would deliver them a 2 TH miner for a song. Remember the S2? 1 TH for about 3 BTC. While it didn't sell like their other miners, people still bought them.

Noise wise(server psu, 3u cabinet, & 4 large blade fans) along with the option for hosting we can see what this miner is made for and it isn't home mining. I just hope they keep the S3 line around.

Too true ... Rule 1: NEVER buy the first incarnation of anything related to BTC mining with Bitmain. They will learn from any problems and refine.

Then the price may ... (should) ... drop, but so will the rewards with ongoing difficulty.

except, S3 price never really dropped much  Wink.

After you take all these in consideration you can make a real calculation:

Oh, God... Why all of you believe that exchange rate for 1 BTC will always be 400+$?... What makes you think so?..

And why do people think the exchange rate has ANYTHING to do with hardware purchases.

If it mines less btc than it costs you've lost regardless of what happens to the rate.

Spend BTC3.5 and get back BTC2 and you are  BTC-1.5

If you are lucky and BTC doubles to $800 and you cash out yes you will have made a small profit, but if you hadn't bought the thing in the first place you'd have made a much bigger one.

If you sell your bought/held BTC at the exact right time.

BITMAIN why did the graph showing efficiency change and whats with the green dotted line now?

Green line means you can underclock them to there.
That's 100Mhz and have 1TH/S when difficulty gets higher.

Batch 1 is always their beta test for suckers.

They'll sell these at a more fair price in later batches, and the QA issues will be fixed by Batch 3 or 4.

B2 will be available when our sales team get solid confirmation from our production team, and the quantity will be much better. Thanks.

... which confirms once again that you should never, ever buy B1. Pay more, get less.  Wink

S4'B1 is limited in quantity, as it is the first mass production after the development stage.

B2 will be available when our sales team get solid confirmation from our production team, and the quantity will be much better. Thanks.

If it's anything like the s3 then they used quantity where they should have used quality.  They couldn't even get a unit with 2 blades out the door in working condition how bad are these batch 1 alpha testers going to get reamed.  Bet they didn't include weeks of arguing with support and return time into their ROI calculations.

And that is why I NEVER buy batch 1!

By batch 3 the price will be more reasonable and we'll know if they work as intended.

Looks like the S1 upgrades were added back to the site, the price is still listed as 0.46 BTC, that's a bit steep in my opinion. Maybe S3 & S1 upgrades will get a price break when they go live, goodness knows Bitmain has waited long enough to re-open sales!

Batch 1 sold out. So much for overpriced hardware, eh?

There's been enough whining about the price and ROI on this. We all get it, you wish the price was more attractive. But the market forces will dictate what happens, and right now it would appear that the market is buying. Let it be. You aren't going to convince Bitmain to do anything when they are able to sell out production batches in just a few days.

Oh no.... sold out..... fcking ten S4s

are you fcked up in the head or what?

"Limited quantity" hahahha That should cover any loss huh?

WOW B1 is sold out.  I'm surprised people are actually paying that much for 2Th.  Oh wait... no I'm not.  Plenty of retarded people out there in crypto land.

Definitely a negative to not have the S2 upgrade option.  I own S1, 2 and 3...  Only my S3 were bought new from bitmain.  the S1 upgrade kits were priced NOT to sell.  They were priced to match the S3 pricing of the time and it was better to buy the S3 direct.

with the S2, I had really hoped to be able to upgrade them as the cost "should" be less (no case/psu/possibly even backbone...)

But now, horribly high price on S4 (the reason doesn't matter - price fixing, exchange on BTC - fact is it is too high) and no kits for the swiftly ailing S2 - and coupons give no help to a  second hand owner.

Even with the current price of BTC, I was enjoying the relationship with bitmain.  This situation effectively cuts me off.  No choice.  I'm not mad... just sad.
