Listing batch 2 is just a sales tatic to make people panic that batch 1 is selling out and to order them ASAP to ensure you get them straight away. Clever bitmain. Clever

As many are saying including the manufacturer of Antminer S and L series, I have a different view.
IMO the state of equilibrium of the network is not what we are seeing now.
The lower BTC price just came as a hindrance to the temporary development of the Network.
As good old times, the price of BTC should increase with respect to the difficulty increase like inflation and interest rates.
But that is not happening now and the whole mining community is in a near halt state.
WhenI say that, I mean the new hash power from non manufacturing  miners.
A jump in the BTC price will just give back a very profitable mining era if the manufacturers are not greedy.
For now S3 is the last miner which was affordable.

The current exchange rate has EVERYTHING to do with S4 purchase as the price is in USD. If BTC is $700 right now I would pay a total of 3 BTC (shippng, tax + S4), but it is not and all this totals to about 5 BTC

After you take all these in consideration you can make a real calculation:

Oh, God... Why all of you believe that exchange rate for 1 BTC will always be 400+$?... What makes you think so?..

And why do people think the exchange rate has ANYTHING to do with hardware purchases.

If it mines less btc than it costs you've lost regardless of what happens to the rate.

Spend BTC3.5 and get back BTC2 and you are  BTC-1.5

If you are lucky and BTC doubles to $800 and you cash out yes you will have made a small profit, but if you hadn't bought the thing in the first place you'd have made a much bigger one.

So what makes you think it should be less than $400? People like you years ago made fun of bitcoin and said the same crap. People said bitcoin would never hit $100.
These type of arguments are useless, going back and forth with obsolete opinions is just no fun.
Take a look at the price of bitcoin maintained throughout this year. This is a clear sign of what it has "stabilized" at.
Also, take into consideration the percentage of increase from when it was $20 or $50.
Bitcoin will be valued at what we want. Unfortunately the large farms and Chinese seem to have more control. The hundreds of thousands of people cashing out for fiat daily also doesn't help.
Also, I don't think religion applies to bitcoin, you can "Oh, God..." all you want at your local church Smiley Smiley Smiley

Getting ROI with anything is almost impossible unless at this stage in mining. Unless you have a huge farm already hashing in a data center.

your calculations are wrong.let me tell you why:
- you didn't add shipping fee witch is about 0.8 BTC
-you didnt add duty fee witch is about 15-25 %
-you didn't add electricity costs witch will cut to about half the profits you got on that calculator
- you only did a 10 % diff increase which is not possible (never was and never will be, despite the manufacturers keep telling us that this will happen).most probably will be 15% or more

After you take all these in consideration you can make a real calculation:

good luck getting a ROI with this !
wise thing to do : just buy 1.800 $ worth of bitcoin now !

I hope the price for S4 B2 will be lower than S1....
I'll buy 2 S4, but not at this price...
At this price I can't make profit on it...

and that is without Electricity cost

Seems like we don't have to worry about BITMAIN. Sales are going ok, if you look at the incoming BTC transactions

SO EXPENSIVE.

I considered buying it as a heater/miner hybrid for my basement. Even then it's so expensive I rather buy used S1's

Beware. This is different than every other product that Bitmain have sold in the past. Shipping is NOT included in the price unlike past products.

And what's with the misleading efficiency chart? The text clearly states that it is .69w/GHs but the chart show .4w/GHs.

Hi xstr8guy,

Clarified it here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/antminer-s4-discussion-and-support-thread-796839

Does it mean it will be possible to underclock/undervolt it via the user interface and get the 1008 GHz @ 481W performance?

well that would be helpful.

also  a freq of 150 may allow for  900 watts and 1650 gh   say .5454 watts a gh
This helps the gear earn enough money  longer for power.  Maybe 30 more days of mining. I will need to wait for this item to be tested and for the price to drop.

Bitmain

When is the s3 coming back? Really disappointed with S4 price sold a load of gear since I needed a bit of cash and some coin so I could get these and the price is just shocking, are you planning on doing the same to the s3 since that now shows a postage weight?
