I have marked the LM75 (TEMPERATURE Sensor) Chip in the following pic. Just stick a small heatsink on top of the sensors, one on each hashing board.

If you put a heatsink on the the sensor wouldn't that make the sensor inaccurate then? I mean you're cooling the sensor but not necessarily the board.

Pretty much, hence its not recommended. There are more things that require cooling on that board than just the ASICs, and if they didn't we'd be seeing a vastly different cooling setup.

like a said just do this mod you can make the shroud out of a old 120mm fan or just buy one make sure its 25mm or thicker it brings down the noise a hell of a lot!!!!!
You reported a respectable reduction in noise level with your mod.  Do you know how much of it is due to the added shroud Vs removal of the finger guard?  I understand removing the guard alone makes a fair difference.

For what it's worth, ZoomHash is still at $325 + shipping. They accept PayPal and Credit Cards. They claim 5 days shipping in the USA.

Alas this is not be. I got an E-mail from Zoom Hash less than 48 hours later saying that they had to cancel the order. So my "S5 for $348 shipped to Minnesota, paid with Discover" turned into a flop. They are crediting the money back. Bummer.......  Undecided

My shipment was canceled too. Even with a simple excel sheet I would be faster than 3 days to know what I have in Stock or not... Speechless...  Lips sealed

Zoomhash Sucks what A bummer! You think they would post "OUT OF STOCK" before people order it!

It seems they have no inventory but just drop ship from Bitmain after you order. Its a no lose thing for them then and a longer wait for the buyer. Also they can also keep any coupons I guess?

just letting people know, Zoomhash still has the s5's selling at $325 with cc, paypal and bitcoin as a payment option. will prob change fast but thought I'd let yah know. I don't work for them, just noticed they are the cheapest I've found right now

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered one S5 on Zoomhash. I checked here and there if they were legit...seems ok.

Finally didn't turn out well... My order for one S5
got cancelled 2 days after payment. Got an email from Zoomhash saying they don't have enough stock. But they debited my account anyway!
Now I'm nervously waiting for the refund...
Bad first experience in the mining world.

Edit: A least I'm not alone :-p

I have ordered twice via Zoomhash, once for S4(right before I learned about S5) and once for S5
Both times they took around 9 days to tell me they were out of stock and then took longer to refund the credit.
I no longer recommend them no matter what they offer, though I understand on the S5 deal, who wouldn't buy it at that price.

that's dum then it will not know the real temperature of the hash board and you will burn it up. your s5 will look like this lol lol

That's the whole idea. By reducing of the temperature  sensor readings, You can lower the fan speed.

It may waste a little power but you can always just use a normal fan limiter that comes with most desktop case fans; you simply need to modify them to attach to a pwm, which is easy.  You can even daisy chain them to limit to the exact speed you want.  They should waste ~ 3 watts each.  Seems the much easier option.  I used them to make an S2 tolerable in my apartment.

I have a ton of these; if anyone wants some just pm me and I will send you some.

they have a little resister in them and are pretty nice.

I am very happy using this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OT58TL4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I suspect it sold out due to my thread on fan mods. What I like is I am able to do 6 delta fans if I choose and run 3 s-5's all at freq 393   and decent sound levels. 62db

I found another on ebay. I may set it up on my fan mod thread to demo what these little dc to dc converters can do compared to a fan controller.

If I had a way to dump s-5 heat out of the house I would get some more.  I am running just about 12 th in house using 6k watts .  house is warm maybe too warm.

Anybody here off hand know the address of bitmain Tech in china? Trying to get a FCC form filled out for Fedx delivery.

Never Mind, found it where they were advertising for a Embedded Software Engineer

FYI - Federal Express Shipping Option

I order a S5 back on the 25th and chose FedX for the shipper to the US. It has been tied up twice in customs, once in china which a phone call took care of and once here which required a FCC form to be filled out. They knew it was a BTC miner and were insistent that this had to be completed for release. Luckily I had a helpful agent that assisted me in filling out the form which should have been completed by Bitmain according to Fedx. Be careful in choosing them for a shipping option to the US it isn't worth the 10 dollars or so you will save.

I ordered Thursday.  FedEx did call and were happy after we were done.  Received my S5's today.

Gotta says the fans are annoying, but not as bad as I anticipated.  The S5 fans are a little louder than the S2 fans. But definitely the higher pitch will drive you nuts.  Glad I took everyone's advice and also ordered some Delta fans.

No, that's a crystal. It's the 8 pin black one at 2 o'clock from it.

thanks  I Had trouble deciding if was  the black one or the other gold/copper one.  was thinking about other fan mods.

right now I am running 2 delta fans in push pull great for overclocking. using the dc to dc converter which runs a constant 9.96 volts to the deltas.

these are good numbers if I had a place to set them up I would do more. Sound is okay 62db with the s-5 and the sp20 sound by side
I have the spare bedroom window open 1 inch and temps are good.

Sell momentum gaining at $220. Headed downwards, currently at $241.

Will Bitmain adjust pricing of the S5 within 48 hours to correct ?

Stay tuned, true miners !
