Anyone with a batch 6 OC at all (besides the person who did a hard reset and had it default to 700)?

It works on 650 for me (speed ~4.29-4.3 TH at 1165W/wall with gold PSU, with plat will be probably ~ 1130-1140W)
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.13167019

I have a distinct feeling that the only difference between B6 and B8 will be B8 with a little higher upper limit of fan speeds, as B6 NEVER goes above 4320, but other batches sometimes reach 4400. I might check this by doing 80-100% manual setting and bumping to 700.

Thanks for the response.

I feel like the buy pressure is pretty weak compared to the sell pressure so I pulled the trigger and ordered another.  Which of course means bitcoin should go way, way up now so you all may want to get ready if you are considering a purchase.

So i have a batch 1 S7 that ever since performing the FW update form the site wont hash seems like after a hard reboot and leaving it for a few hours it starts to hash but if I ever power it down the problem starts up again. multiple reboots and nothing the main screen is dead See screen shot

I have also tried to login via SSH with default root/root and i get access denied so I can't even poke around inside to try and review the config files

Anyone had any issues like this or can offer advice on how to get in with SSH I would appreciate your help

It is root admin, not root root. s5 started the root admin thing. s3 was root root.

Thanks I got in but still can't get the stupid thing to start hashing
you use dynamic or static address?
I use static and 8.8.8.8 dns  (Google dns)

You have a screen shot of the configuration?
Did you try the reset button? Sometimes the flash doesn't complete .

or change the network cable :-)

Its in a remote farm but last time this happened I tried a new cable that didn't work. The only thing I haven't tried yet is a hard reset using the reset switch as I am not onsite with the machine seems to be something went screwy with the FW update and its stuck in some inbetween state. All other miners are fine and have the exact same settings and until I attempted the FW update these 2 were fine

As others have mentioned, go back and check the simple things. You will need to go onsite and hit that reset and work on this baby. You may have a cable which worked loose from vibration.
Personally, if I am 100% sure I've checked the simple things, I check them again, and again, but I am OCD about the simple things because I help people everyday and it is almost always something minor, but then you may need to swap control boards to see if you flipped off the firmware when updating. By the way, don't update firmware without a huge reason to do so, and be sure that reason is satisfied in your update package.
One final thought, if it is the control board, at least you can connect the down unit to another and run two off one board while you get a replacement.

I have tried both and use same DNS I have 4 other miners that work fine those I haven't touched trying the new FW. I have tired re-flashing FW multiple times hard power resetting, rebooting, assigning Static IP rebooting router nothing seems to work. Usually after a few hours it start to hash this time its still not hashing after over 12 hrs
Sorry for overquoting this but connect BOTH FACTORY FANS as it was from the box!

check the pool address, username n password with eyes wide opened.

could just be as simple as that mate.

yeah the DNS thing might help too.

try reflashing the few again?

PSU n cables all OK?

step by step n take it slow.

believe it or not happened to me once, 1 of my nminer was running fine then 1 day gave up. I tried Another RPI, PSU bloody thing won't even power on n I gave it a few smack n knocks on it using screwdriver & whoalla bloody thing came on & started hashing. although it's not an ant but who knows yeah. I woke the dragon up.

If they keep these things pegged to BTC and BTC hits about $425ish I'll bite on another.  I hope it makes it in the next week or so.

maybe today  Wink

Certainly heading that way.

I need 3 or 4 days mining to get over the 4 BTC threshold though.  I'm close but I need a couple more blocks on a couple of pools.

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum but I've been mining since june (I currently have 5 S4's, 5 X3's - they are garbage, 3 batch 7 S7's, and 3 batch 8 S7's on order).

I have 3 $150 coupons I'm looking to get rid of, for batch 8. Since they do me no good (and since I apparently can't combine them to buy another batch 8 unit), I'm looking to get rid of them. I'm willing to take whatever you're willing to offer. They expire on the 31st tho, FYI.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Bought a coupon from OP, he sent first. Payment sent, see pm for Tx id.
Thanks.

'The right to privacy matters'
I got my batch 7 online yesterday and the noise is horrible and I used to think S5 is noisy.
Fans run over 4000rpm and blades are about 50C, air is traveling too fast, screams and resonates badly.
3 x DPS-600 powers take 1400W from wall, I tested power draw upto 1600W.

Customs took 1BTC for sale tax but I have "free" electrics as garage is heated with S7 so I maybe ROI some day.

What did you really expect? One S5 with one jet blaster fan was horrible noise pollution. Then, an S7 with two of them running. The temps aren't even the "real" temps. It's just a temp sensor on the board somewhere. I would always add 10 degrees to the temp shown.

50C, thats very good. You have some leeway here. Air is too fast, yes indeed it make a lot of noise at full speed;

So why are you not reducing fan speed? Tongue

2 Fan is actually quieter than 2 fan because the air flow for the same noise is lower.

I was expecting evolution, Bittmaintech have made these machines over two years.
If You put two same size fans in a tube suction fan should bee bigger, flow rate is reduced if it isn't. Fans in S7 have the static fins which restric flow at exit, but at inlet side they reduce turbulence and make inlet air pressure higher. Exit fins are useless and make only noise. If You put hand near exit, machine don't make so much noise.

If you pay almost 2000$ of a machine you shouldn't need to open it first and check if parts have fallen of.
Better thermal epoxy needed or some quality control maybe?

2000$ miner shouldn't overheat and burn if it lose internet.

Not GPUs hanging from wires but still not yet very matured products.

you sir are wrong to say products are not very matured.

The Avalon 6 is far better built then the s-7 but the better build = $$ and a bit less power efficient .

The s-7 is nosiy at high fan speed so lower the fans speed to 40 or 45%. This also fixes the lost internet burn up issue.

Now once the fan is at 40% you may need to drop freq to 575 to keep cool

look at this s-7
using a quality psu not 3  lower end server psu's like you are using

my power is  1200 watts
